Pro tip for people who want to get the most out of the Gold Idol, make a forgery of it at The Black Cat, and turn in the REAL Gold Idol to Caxton (Or to Madeleine if you want her top tier stuff), and keep your forgery in your party's inventory, it will still trick all vendors into giving you a 30% discount on ALL prices. So now you not only get acces to some top tier gear, but you also can buy it 30% cheaper. Alternatively, if you forgot to make a forgery and already turned in the Gold Idol, you're not completely screwed, there is still a Gold Idol forgery inside Fournival's house, but it's ontop of a bookshelf, and the only way i'm aware of reaching it is to stack a bunch of barrels which is much more difficult that it sounds. Warning, special discount awarding items like bronze/silver/gold idols and others, do not stack. So the higher possible discount that i am aware of is 30% from the Gold Idol, once you have that or the forgery in your party iventory, don't bother carrying around bronze or silver idols since they won't stack.
Wow, still remember looking up this guide a long time ago looking for everything and now seeing does bring back some memories of me playing Dragon's Dogma...good times

Dragons Dogma is literally my favorite game of all time. I only completed like 1/4th of it too on 360. When I had it on Xbox 360 I sold my 360 to get xbox one and gave the game back to my friend who lent it to me thinking it would be back compatible with Xbox one but it wasn't. Then just a few weeks ago I saw a youtube commercial for DD:DA remastered on xBox one and my heart pounded so hard and I literally jumped out of my chair. Im glad I am able to finally start playing again and hope more people discover this wonderful gem of a game!
The happiness I got from seeing the idol on the right side of my screen was insane! I had so much trouble with the mission where you had to buy the plot so I was relieved I didn’t have to do that mission twice 😂 thanks so much though this helped a lot (I am aware you are not likely to respond because of how old this is 😅)
Actually, she has three hiding spots. behind the fireplace in the inn, behind the alehouse, and behind the riftstone in the guild. the angle of the camera as she runs off gives you a hint as to where she'll go. camera left of Arisen: inn, centre: alehouse, right: pawn guild.
In the beginning you have to say yes to her when she asks if you will obey everything she says (even if you don't wanna start the quest yet). With the hide n seek you have to catch her in a certain time limit so be quick, also if she isn't behind the alehouse she is in the inn behind the fireplace and to the right of the picture on the wall near the chair of knowledge.
Considering most of the "awesome" weapons that you get for handing over the gold idol, you have a higher chance of dying violently in Bitterblack and finding a cursed object. Daimon almost seems easier to deal with than her.
You can get a second Gold Idol by replaying on hard mode. Hard mode, gives better loot & stuff. I usually don't give out the first Idol until I have two then I can give one to both Caxton & Madeleien. Also, def forge a copy at The Black Cat as it gives you buy/sell discounts at all shops. Finally, you can get a free "forged copy" of the Gold Idol prior to the escort quest with Simeon, from a ledge in their dining room upstairs. After the quest, it's no longer there.
Not just hardmode. The game lets you loop infinitely into NG+, as part of the lore. And each time resets all the quests. So you can redo the quest a second time for a second idol. And if I remember, the shop inventories carry over. So whoever you gave the idol to the first time, still has it in NG+ and can give the new idols to the second shopkeeper this time

the "losing all your quest deal" doesn't happen. for example the wyrm hunter series of quests; the quests that are directly related to the wyrm hunt are the ones that get canceled. none of your side quests are affected.
It won't start you completely over unless you specifically choose 'New Game' in the main menu. When you beat the game and it saves and sends you to the main menu, just load and it'll put you at the beginning of the game with all previous stats and stuff for NG+.
don't select "new game" if you want to keep your current character. In order to play a new game with your current character and items then simply select "load game" after you have beaten it. This will then cause a notification to pop up telling you that you have beaten the game and asks you if you would like to start a new game with your current profile. A bit late, I know. Ok figured it out if you let her get “too far” she will say so, if that happens reload the checkpoint. Just be sure to stay at the in first, or have a save to reload
Does spring water count? It consist of natural healing properties from the healing fountain, also labeled as pure water. 2022 and I got the ultimate reward of this quest
Empty Flask x1
If you’ve already given a idol if u get another like the gold one to them does that add to what the shops have or is it a one and done thing?
Ok figured it out if you let her get “too far” she will say so, if that happens reload the checkpoint. Just be sure to stay at the in first, or have a save to reload
You just need to sleep at the inn for a few days and come back a bit later.
Does spring water count? It consist of natural healing properties from the healing fountain, also labeled as pure water. Would the Arisen obtain a better reward since it would be fitting for a noble child to drink water at its finest? Just like the rich only consuming the highest quality of nutrients. Like in RPG medieval games, there are various metal types categorized as bronze, silver, gold, diamond, adamantite, orichalcum, platinum, and titanium.
I wonder too
There's another gold idol in the witchwood if you go a special way through the woods. This idol quest though is much easier though.
Are you past the Wyrm Hunt point? His stock does very little in terms of change before that

calling it the fat joe leanback is a hilarious and perfect description
"Here's an item you need for some rare gear. Except it's only available as reward for this one quest, AND ONLY IF you do it perfectly. We also won't tell you that, good luck figuring it out."
This game really was unfinished, huh?
Funny of YT to recomend me this video AFTER i finish this quest.
Good thing i did get the gold idol.
do you have dark arisen? i've heard that a lot of things get changed in dragon's dogma if you do. i do but having never played vanilla DD i can't say for sure.
