For those of you who do not know how this came about. This is back when FFXI was released for NA. By this time, Japanese players had been playing this by themselves for sometime now. They treated NA players like crap. They would refuse to invite any other players but Japanese. Hence the JPONRY was born. They would answer us with no NA JP only for party. This is back when you would stand at zones shouting you job and level to form a party. The game back then was only party's able to gain decent XP. So this legend of a player made this character and ran through the town spaming this. Hope the story helps she'd light on the reason why.
@@Null_Experis No. Back in the day, the game was hard and required good communication to clear stuff or level efficiently. There was no "Level 99 steamrolling all content" or leveling up through a book from 1 to 40 in 5 hours. Back then, it took 5 hours to FIND A GROUP (unless you were a tank). You wanted the group to work well and not disband after a few wipes (or only one). Oh, and "JP [no thanks]" was also a thing, and it wasn't just for "revenge". tl;dr - JP ONRY/ JP [no thanks] might be a dick move, but an understandable one (back in the day)

I got locked up by a GM because an influential LS leader complained about me. Well, it was actually because I assaulted his clear homosexuality. The GM let me go and told me not to make offensive personal statements regarding players’ personal lives, but also admitted the complainer was kind of being a fag.
story time: once on a normal day in bismarck 2009 (i think), i told my party that i wish to meet a gm and see for my self how they look like, then this guy with full red armor comes running faster than a thf and yells FORBID THAT THOUGHT FROM YOUR MIND then he disappears, i still can't belive what i saw that day
I saw them before. I forgot how. I didn't go to the cells or do anything(that I remember) but they were just around sometimes. I think if you got stuck in world or needed help and made a GM call they came dressed as you see here. Your story is funny though. It's like he was standing around bored and did that to freak you out. Or one of the people in your linkshell actually worked as a GM, but an NDA prevented them from saying they were. GMs often play the games on their own character when off the clock. So he read that logged into GM account & did that to freak you out. Logged back onto normal account to see you freak out about it to linkshell and chuckle to themselves

Then my game lags so hard I think it's broken. I see a 75 pld kitting the whole damn zone and that was the first time I saw -aga 3 spells from a 75 BLM and I damn near crapped my pants. I called my bff IRL on the phone and shouted at him about what happened... He couldn't believe it lmao. We were both leveling together but he happened to not be on at that moment. Ahh memories

It was tough towards the end, when the population started dwindling, but during it's heyday from like 2004-2006, FFXI was the shit. Met so many cool-ass people over the years and had such a good time playing, even when the game was a fucking drag (and it was a drag a lot, my God what a grind), the people made it bearable. ahh.. i miss the old times and the fun and frustration i had with ffxi. spending hours alone with my low leveled thief in the steppe, trying to farm some stuff to sell for a handfull of gil. after that somehow managing to levelupto 75 and several other classes too, managing to get my byakku suzaku genbu seityu kirin stuff. looking at the dudes with envy who managed to get relic weapons, like they were true legends inside the game. it was probably the only game where i also enjoyed doing nothing but just waiting for a party. but i also hate this game, because i compare every other mmorpg withthis one, and somehow they lose to ffxi
I went from Jeuno to Windy on a level 1 job. My original intent was to death warp (hence the level 1 job), but I wasn't getting any aggro, so I decided to see how far I could get. I didn't use any sneak/invis stuff, just avoided mobs.
It was def funny. It depended what server and what time period you played the game. The Jp community in some servers just wouldn't play with NA at all.
It wasn't purely exclusive on Ifrit (back in the days of 75 max level), but we had a fair percentage of "JP only" players, and enough to make it frustrating for English speaking players to find parties at times. I think the JP only attitude hurt the smaller mixed servers more than it probably did the bigger ones.
Leviathan was literally split in half for around the first five years of the game. One half NA, other JP. Can't speak any further than that since I stopped playing.
I loved playing with JP players sometimes, so efficient. I literally fell asleep once, woke up like 6 hours later still in the party, some JP parties were super cool.
You should play. Even if you are starting fresh from lvl 1. You will be able to level up quickly via solo play. SE made adjustments throughout the years. New combers have it easy now. Plus if you purchase new, you will get special in game beginners items such as the Chocobo Shirt & Destrier Beret (with the ultimate seekers collection) I play on Sylph Server. :)

I'm just going to say this but JPN excluded us for a reason in NA. Their whole culture is perfectionist, america has perfectionist in it, but most of us aren't. in Japan, though it's more the national attitude and it filters on down to make major play style differences between how a NA gamer would play compared to a JPN, I knew this when I was playing so I specialized in badly needed jobs so that they'd get desperate breaking down and inviting me, but that was back before EXP was really quick. But yeah back in the 75 cap era All I had to do was get decent gear for my black mage and put up the invites at 1amish and just wait for them too get desperate. they would communicate with me as best they could to magic burst, sometimes i'd ask them the element to use depending on skillchains. But I knew to at least try to Magic burst as reliably as possible, and did. I wish they'd remembered my name because honestly I at least tried to comform. the result was like 20 to 30 percent faster EXP. from the JPN perspective most NA's are filthy casuals who don't care so long as the job gets done.

You have to be a sneaky jp onry. I've done it. Head out for Windurst, into the canyon, and make your way. It takes about 30-40 mins IRL.

You're pretty much just as likely to die going from Valkurm at lvl20 as Bastok at lvl1, you get caught you get killed.
