Challenge someone to a gun-duel to the death and the first thing they do is unbuckle their gun belt without hesitation is a clear sign to immediately cancel that challenge, apologise and pay the bet anyway.

While I love this scene, I feel sad for people who haven't watched Lee Byung Hun in any of his Korean movies. He is such an amazing actor who has done amazing work - Iris and Inside Man are just 2 of his best works, and he was a standout in Mr. Sunshine.
Thanks!
You forgot about I saw the devil.
@@NewAnimeFreak357 Another great Byung Hun movie! I also could have mentioned A Bittersweet Life, Harmonium and Joint Security Area - and I'm still leaving out a lot of great movies and performances by Byung Hun.
@@jamesrawlins735 his stunt work between western and eastern movies couldn't be more different. You would think it's two different actors when comparing the greenhouse fight in I saw the devil and Red 2 or GI Joe
He’s Awesome in Red2, & as Storm Shadow
“I ain’t paying for no cheaters...”
Uh, how in the world does throwing a knife at a guy before he can get a shot in constitute as cheating?
I think it's more about Billy taking it easy on his opponent when they were gun to gun. They got their shot off pretty close. Win goes to Billy because he is faster and most likely to goad him into the double or nothing bet. Suddenly when it's gun to hair pin, Billy is so much faster that the other guy doesn't even come close.
it was the wild west, not the wild smartest.
knife adds 20 HP
Its called a movie, its not real life
1. Hiding skill to bait a higher wager rematch is hustling.
2. A gun duel is a gun duel, the conditions are you use a gun and you duel, by using a weapon he was more familiar with he's cheating, regardless if it's a kitchen knife or crossbow.
Lee had such a presence in this scene. His stance evoked power and a quiet confidence, and his outfit was heavy and light in all the right places to invoke both youthful vigor and an experienced survivalist pragmatism.
Probably one of the best cast movies of 2016. Everyone was epic!
lol he brought a gun to a knife fight!
damn this was good
Joseph Mead and won
The knife wielder won, to be exact.
Peace.
ahh how stupid...
But very funny
You're supposed to pull the trigger when you pull your six shooter. As long as it's a single action. You pull the trigger, bring the pistol up, then fan the hammer.
Something I think this movie got right as far being a remake was the non-verbal bits between characters. When Billy steps up to Goodnight after the first time, you can tell immediately how in tune they are with each other and what they are thinking. Same effect as Yul Bryner and Steve McQueen, legacies withstanding. When they shoot looks at each other, it's style and storytelling.
I'm getting "the Good, the Bad, and the Weird" flashbacks.
Anthony Clay iii
ayyyyyyyyyyyyy
Anthony Clay i absolutely love that movie
You got taste.
Hell yeah
The really impressive part of this scene is the man who made the call. It was sooo damn close that even in slow mo it was EXTREMELY close. That was VERY impressive to me. You can barely see who won in slow mo and in real time seams super human.
Well, it IS scripted.
Always liked this scene as its a throwback to Seven Samurai which the Magnificent Seven is based off of.
gwilym1991 the plot the story of magnificent 7 is from seven samurai only this time its western
* based on.
based off is just wrong.
***** the seven samurai movie has a scene where two samurai spar . One declare it a draw and the other says he won, the one who says it's a draw insists on doing it to the death to prove his point. He is then immediately killed. That is what this scene is a throwback to.
Lesson #1: never challenge a silent man to a do-over.
But it's beyond a throwback. The whole film is a throwback. Same structure, same story beats, characters filling almost identical roles. That is all he is saying.
This is pretty accurate, a throwing knife can one shot you, while somebody can take several shots to the face with a pistol
Knife > Gun
Sincerely, Call of Duty logic.
That's nice.
Amazing
It's true. No one ever died to a single bullet wound. Guns are much safer than knives... fukkingidiot...what was that?....nothing.... brainddeadmoronmillenialdummythinksabulletcan'toneshotyou.....pretty sure you just said something......YOU'RE STUPID

Honestly I would of loved to see Goodnight and Billy having adventures in a solo movie or in Asia (Korea/China).
what about Japan? :D
lol
why not
MrKajithecat each of the Seven could each have their own movie. A buddy cop movie with Billy and Goodnight, a war drama with Sam in the Civil War, a movie bout what the hell Vasquez did before the events of Mag7, a Red Harvest movie maybe in the style of The Revenant, so many possibilities. Or they could go the novelization route to expand upon.

Squid game?
When someone says “it’s your funeral” and then the guy proceeds to remove his hat and gun belt, that’s when you apologize, turn, and run
One of those rare occasions where the remake of a classic scene is every bit as good as the original. You can cut the tension with the proverbial knife, if you'll pardon the expression.
What a boss move by Robicheux: "It's alright son - you just pay me double."
1:35 Love how goodnight isn't the LEAST bit scared for Billy haha.
HAHA. He had the coolest and perfect name... "BILLY ROCKS". every time someone says his name they are complimenting him.

If you pause at 0:24 you can see that Billy actually fires into the ground, yet he hits the cup just a fraction before his opponent does. That's some next-level ricochet gunslinging!
the one who died is a really great actor. His gesture, tabak chewing and behavior is on point. Really good acting.
Dat boi: Why don't we do it for real?
Billy: *Your free trial of life has expired.*
For those who aren't aware, this is an adaptation of a scene from The Seven Samurai (of which The Magnificent Seven is based on), where the Samurai Kyuzo is having a duel with another Samurai using bokken (fake swords). His opponent declares the match a draw, and Kyuzo disagrees, claiming he won. His opponent angrily asks for a rematch with steel, which Kyuzo easily wins.
wouldn’t call it an adaptation, more of an homage; but interesting point, didn’t notice it until you pointed it out
In all of these comments , I find it odd no one has mentioned the original scene in the original movie with Lee Marvin. Of course , that was also an adaptation of the Asian movie.

Look up the Battle of Klushino. The term "Don't bring a gun to a knife fight" was born from that battle.
0:24 Funny thing is Byung-hun Lee absolutely shot his own holster when he grabbed the gun, rather than aim it first. You can clearly see the gunsmoke plume straight down through it and hit the ground.

@@demyanrudenko I meant how the actor was able to grow from a minor character in this movie to a key character in such popular Netflix show nowadays. I could've used a better phrase to reduce confusion
@@thehumblechannel3441 lee byung hun is one of the biggest stars in korea and has been for like 20 years. he got so big in korea that he actually had a small hollywood career when it was unheard of for a korean actor to get any major roles in hollywood. it's still not a thing.
the funny thing about squid game is that every korean knew that it was a surprise cameo by a very famous actor when they revealed his identity. it's like watching a random show on netflix and all of a sudden brad pitt is in a cameo. every non-korean of course completely missed the significance of that reveal.

yes he was faster then the bullet moving through the barrel
I think there was this one gunslinger (And he's really fast) already pulled the trigger before taking the gun out of it's holster, and aims when the bullet is already traveling through the barrel. I think this is what they're referencing... Or it's just a mess up by the movie.
