Things have not been going as planned with Promise.
Everything was going great up through the first rides… then Promise started having lameness issues. He communicated that the only way he could, with defensive pain based aggression. I caught on and started working to get the vet out.
When I got the news, it was what I already had begun to expect… Promise is lame in his front right and the left hind. The front leg is due to conformation, and he is too old to have it corrected. The hind leg is compensative.
Promise has lived on this for four years as a wild horse, and though he’s too unstable to ride and cannot hold up to the stresses of training, he doesn’t let it slow him down in his day to day life.
He finds happiness in long days in the pasture, lots of attention and tasty grain meals! I don’t believe it is fair to take that away from him… he has already lost his home and family; he deserves to live out the rest of his life in stability.
Promise can be haltered, lead, turned out and caught, have his feet picked up, get on a trailer, clean a stall with him in there.
The rearing and charging issue has now been resolved and is no longer a problem.
Promise needs a home and is running out of time. If you think you could possibly be interested in adopting, please contact me through my site:
