A Summit on Economic Transformation: Growth is not Enough - Africa Needs to Transform

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) and the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences are hosting a summit on May 20, 2024 in South Africa at the University of Pretoria’s new Future Africa campus. The event’s theme will be: “Growth Is Not Enough. Africa Needs to Transform.” It will commemorate Africa Day (May 25) and be held in collaboration with several of ACET’s institutional partners,
including the University of Pretoria, Institute for Security Studies (ISS), South Africa Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA), and the South Africa Department for International Relations and Cooperation. Invitees will include various African embassies, regional and international development organizations, think tanks, and the general public.
Objective
The event will focus on discussing the findings of ACET’s 2023 African Transformation Index (ATI), exploring pathways for policy development and uptake of the ATI recommendations, and gathering ideas for how to keep the index relevant in its next iteration.
