Thanks for another great video. I used a Turnigy Action camera for recording, but prefer the Mobius. Probably due to the lower forward facing profile..less drag, right. I was looking at these RunCams also.
I think this is slightly different again. The one I got was from HK. www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=68681 It is Turnigy branded, but looks very similar
Thanks for the great review. I've just ordered a run cam as I've had quality and reliability issues with the Mobius lately. I assume the run cam is plug and play so I can put a memory card in and just start filming and playing back without playing with all this software straight away?
I think you can play back the videos on the mobius, if I remember correctly you just press the mode button. I think the mode button is configurable to allow that.
Power Max I have to confirm that I can play back the video on my mobius, directly from the camera. I think Power Max is correct that it's done via the mode button.
Great video - Thanks! You mentioned that the Mobius had about 1/5 second lag for FPV, then you also said you wouldn't suggest using the RunCam HD for FPV because of lag, but I think you skipped over talking about the specific latency of the RunCam HD. Is it pretty much identical to the Mobius in terms of that lag? Thanks!!
Have you got a video on how to use that "keyholder" as a fpv cam? I have exactly that and would try to use it before buying something else (low on funds...). Btw, thank you for the video... RunCam really looks good.
I wouldn't use the live out for FPV, there is way to much lag for anything expect fixed wing soaring at altitude.. I use it to record the flight and use a dedicated FPV camera as well..
+Painless360 Awesome! Am too unobservant. Also big thank you for all the effort you put into sharing your knowledge on FPV and RC hobby! It's greatly appreciated! :)
great video thanks! I just received mine yesterday and was smiling when I saw that you were reviewing it this am. My thoughts on the performance are as you describe, it is more focused on copter flying than the Mobius. the mount is much more Quadcopter friendly than the Mobius. I do find the software for the Mobius a bit easier to deal with. That being said IMO the Runcam overall is a better unit. thanks for the review.
how is the runcamHD as a FPV cam for latency in quad flying of plane fpv please? just hook up to TX and use micro scandisk card to as DVR at same time? thanks .. Scott
How are you my friend, blz, one of these arrived for me, I already tested everything and it's a show !!! But I can not download the application on my PC, only available to Andróid, do you know where I think to download on the PC?
Painless360 And in the specifications page it was mentioned that it gets heated up so just wanted to ask if this camera gets too hot if we use it for say 20mins max continuously in 1080p mode
+Painless360 sorry i'm new to this, but is it enough if i connect the video output cable directly into my quadcopter? ( its a copter with fpv system stock on it, only want replace the cam.) and my second question is: the stock cam has an antenna, how about the Runcam?
Sorry my question is not related to the video. I have downloaded open pilot version 14.10. When I do the upgrade and plug my board in the lights come on on the board but the openpilot gives message the it doesn't detect the board. Help please.
Hi. Just want to report back. Found my problem. I tried the cc3d board without anything plugged into it. Like they say. If nothing else work return to the manual 😁 I plugged all my esc an reciever in and walla. thanks for making me read all the info painless369. Happy flying.
I have the newer mobius with the standard lens, and received my runcam a week ago. I like the runcam but the software needs some work. It's getting there though. The android app for the runcam is easier to use than the pc programme. You just need an otg cable to use it. That said, image quality wise, I think the mobius just edges it. But both are well worth the money so I think people would be happy with either.
TheGusK I'm not so sure. The mobius edged it for me, both here and my personal cams. I guess it's all subjective really being as we all perceive things slightly differently.
kyler peterson Be careful, there are two battery sizes that you can have in the Mobius - 530mAh or a larger 820Mah. The RunCam is 750mAh.. Guess which battery is in my Mobius ;) I will add this note to the video in case it's confusing for others too. Happy flying!
I hate seeing companies create these Operating System dependent binary applications. I think Cleanflight has proven that you can do anything you need in a browser. UPDATE: RunCam now uses a browser based app. app.runcam.com/
here is the latest updates for the Runcam hd app.runcam./tool/ and once you have copied that file to your runcam hd turn it on and it adds the update then add this file and do it the same way app.runcam.com/tool/setting
Painless360 are you going to test the Yi? www.engadget.com/2015/04/29/xiaomi-yi-camera-versus-gopro-hero/ it's a cheap alternative to destroying a GoPro for us noobs that are learning to fly.
Do you want to do a review series on the new open pilot nano? This is one incredible FC wiki.openpilot.org/display/WIKI/Revolution+Nano+Hardware+Setup Let me know
I have been enjoying my Runcam HD. I haven't used it as the source of my fpv system yet, though I was going to test that in place of my 400 tl camera.
I just got one of these is a job lot of drone items. I’m not sure how it stacks up to modern cameras (haven’t tried it yet)
Thanks for another great video.

Kevin Ray You mean the SJCAM?

What do you think about using a SJCAM Original SJ4000 for fpv? If so, could you please show a list of parts I would need? Thanks.
Thanks for the great review. I've just ordered a run cam as I've had quality and reliability issues with the Mobius lately. I assume the run cam is plug and play so I can put a memory card in and just start filming and playing back without playing with all this software straight away?
+Next Lipo Please Yep, should work out of the box. Happy flying!
Cheers pal ! I love the flying bit but computers scare me lol

Slightly less lag, similar to the 808#16 camera.
Thanks!
Can we use the Run Cam as the primary FPV camera and feed OSD to it? Will the OSD info then be able to be recorded?? Also for $58.99 US can't be beat
Yes you can but the latency is slightly better than the mobius. Still would not use it as a primary on models where you need the speed..
I was thinking of putting in a switch between the 2 camera's. I want to record the OSD screen while flying in HD.
GREAT REVIEW... THANK'S !
Thanks so much for sharing : )
Have you got a video on how to use that "keyholder" as a fpv cam?
I have exactly that and would try to use it before buying something else (low on funds...).
Btw, thank you for the video... RunCam really looks good.
If you mean the 808#16 then there are lots of videos for that on the channel. Best of luck!
Painless360 OK, thank you very much :)
Hola, you test the live out for fpv ?? what do you think ?
I wouldn't use the live out for FPV, there is way to much lag for anything expect fixed wing soaring at altitude.. I use it to record the flight and use a dedicated FPV camera as well..
nice video, i just wonder why your mobius is so much out of focus?
It's not, this is thanks to the compression.on TH-cam. See my video on adjusting Mobius focus..
Happy flying!
"Run through the Runcam" I see what you did there!!!!
Lol anyways thanks for a great review!
is it possible to use the runcam as fpv and record at the same time?Could tell me the best hard ware to get to use with the runcam to get fpv goin.Thx
Hey Painless. When are you gonna review the new RunCam 2? I saw it has 40ms latency in 720p 60fps!
+PappaSlask Already done! You can preview it in the 'reviews' playlist. ;)
+Painless360 Awesome! Am too unobservant. Also big thank you for all the effort you put into sharing your knowledge on FPV and RC hobby! It's greatly appreciated! :)
You're welcome! Thanks for the feedback and Happy Flying!

Harvey Relihan Very nicely summed up! Happy flying!

+Scott Frank id loot at our video on the V2. The latency is a lot better.
Ty!!
How are you my friend, blz, one of these arrived for me, I already tested everything and it's a show !!! But I can not download the application on my PC, only available to Andróid, do you know where I think to download on the PC?
+Carlos Cunha if you Google it you'll find it. www.runcam.com/download/runcamhd/
Thank you my friend, I already found it and downloaded the program !!
Is there any heat sink on the RunCam HD like the Mobius has ?
+Modeller's Point no, happy flying!
Painless360
And in the specifications page it was mentioned that it gets heated up so just wanted to ask if this camera gets too hot if we use it for say 20mins max continuously in 1080p mode
+Painless360 Hello, I was wondering if I could connect the Runcam with any quadcopter fpv screen and use it as primary cam?
Yes you can. But you get black bands top and bottom of the image at the moment..
+Painless360 sorry i'm new to this, but is it enough if i connect the video output cable directly into my quadcopter? ( its a copter with fpv system stock on it, only want replace the cam.) and my second question is: the stock cam has an antenna, how about the Runcam?
Yes, be very careful about the polarity and connections when connecting it to a Vtx. The antenna is part of the Vtx, not the camera... Best of luck!
Just about to buy one, do you have an affiliated link?
+WorksopGimp No, we don't. Check out the reviews of the newer RunCam V2 before deciding..
Sorry my question is not related to the video. I have downloaded open pilot version 14.10. When I do the upgrade and plug my board in the lights come on on the board but the openpilot gives message the it doesn't detect the board. Help please.
Johan Opperman th-cam.com/video/olIqTiSJHIY/w-d-xo.html and come back to me. The answer is on the Openpilot site..
Best of luck.

do any of these or are there any cameras that i can use fpv with my phone?
+Reggi Pech Quite a few - check out the cameras like the RunCam V2..
Good video, as all ways. Do you have one for sale?
+Soldier53flyer no, all of ours get used a lot :)

The image quality is very similar. So similar it starts to come down to personal preference..
Painless360 agreed :0)
How do you connect the runcam so it can be used with fpv googles?
+spooner Graham See out video for the Mobius and RunCam V2, we cover the basics in there.. Best of luck.
Watched that very good video But you dont say why not to use it as your main FPV cameraWhy?
We do cover that in our videos about latency. Best of luck!
Cheers
the comment removed was not for you my apologies late night bright screen lol
Nice review
in runcam.com downloads there is no software fore PC .its all android aps. where can i get a coppy of the software you are useing
Looks like they stopped making it, I'd ask RunCam if I were you.. Best of luck!
Do you know which stores sell this?
Not sure - Google is a better bet. They have the V2 now with lots of improved features so I'd try that too. Best of luck!
You sure I can't find this like at best buy or something? Lol
Maybe ;)
banggood.com
The part in the middle just pops out on the mobeus
Not sure what you mean..
Painless360 On the slide on mount. The mobus I have the tripod mount just push's out of it. I think this is what you said was in the way
steve USMC NO TOLERANCE I can confirm that it does pop out!
The battery isn't smaller it's bigger RCMODELREVIES opens it up and the run am batty is bigger.
kyler peterson Be careful, there are two battery sizes that you can have in the Mobius - 530mAh or a larger 820Mah. The RunCam is 750mAh.. Guess which battery is in my Mobius ;)
