I really enjoy Camilla's reviews. Wish she had a bigger presence on the channel. Also, a huge fan of escape room games. Would love to see a ranking of the different escape room games out there (Tom did one, but several years ago).
Call me oldschool, but I really do prefer EXIT to Unlock. I love having to cut things, get creative with everything and how literally EVERYTHING can be part of the puzzle. I haven't found a single bad puzzle, most of them are great, with a small number of average ones. Who cares if it can only be played once. Is anyone going to replay a game with puzzles whose answers you already know? The fact that you ruin the components expands the design space so much it's awesome. The last one I did was the Outer Gate one and boy it was amazing.
Love every EXIT experience I’ve had (the first three and the first calendar)… certainly can’t say the same of UNLOCK. The variety of the graphic design and illustrations in UNLOCK is wonderful (and the only real knock I have against EXIT), but the Unlock puzzles generally blow by comparison. Go Inka and Markus!
I've found the easier ones are a bit more linear. First page: solve the puzzle, then turn the page. Second page: solve the puzzle, then turn the page. Repeat until the end. I haven't played some of the more recent Exit games, but my favorite is Catacombs of Horror. The final puzzle was pretty difficult but SO SATISFYING when my group worked out the solution.
Wife & I have played almost all of them, including one of the Advent Calendars and two of the Puzzles (liked Nightfall, disliked the Lighthouse). Our favorites are the deduction ones normally (Murder, Kidnapping, Theft, etc), and the Catacombs was great, as was the newer Return to Cabin. We love that the games use everything, makes it more fun to see how the have creatively used things. Should assume all of them need scissors, which you can take when travelling, just get a small pair. We've tried a few of the Unlocks, but they just were so hit and miss, and overall, just not as interesting or creative. Far prefer the Exit series.
I only pick these up when they are on clearance. I don't like not being able to replay or pass them on. I enjoyed the jigsaw puzzle EXIT the best. Nice video.
If you're willing to put in a little effort, you can make them a little replayable, though you usually have to photocopy something or maybe use a transparency sheet over a component so you don't draw on the actual page/card. You won't be able to obscure everything you had to do all the time, but if the next person doesn't mind that, you could pass it along & they can decide if they want to do the same or just dispose after playing. It's something, anyway.
Maybe I missed it but you left out one very important thing on your review. This is a disposable game, meaning you can play it only once and then you have to throw it out. Since you're always having to cut, bend, break or something similar to the game pieces you can't even give this to another person to try out after you're done. So, the price you pay is for ONE game only and you can't resell or pass on. This to me makes it a lot worse than it would otherwise because they're not THAT cheap. From what I've seen these go for around $15 each. In comparison, Ticket to Ride goes for $45. Seven Wonders Duel is $28. Cards Against Humanity is $30. Codenames is $13. Telestrations is $20. Hues & Cues is $21. Sushi Go is $12. Everdell $60. So, if you buy any of these other games and play 1 to 4 times, depending on the game, you have more "game for your buck". And you can even resell to get some of your money back if you don't like it that much. I've tried one Exit game but felt it was just "OK". And after the 1 hour-ish it took to finish I felt like it wasn't a great investment.
Gamenerdz has exit games at $10. During the target online sale, you can get some exit games for as low as $5. Try not to buy board games from Amazon, they usually have the worst prices.
@@nishant_kumar Good to know. I've only got prices from Target.com for a somewhat fair comparison. But I'm sure if we look for or wait for sales (like Black Friday) we can get cheaper prices on all of these. The lower cost helps a lot but I still would prefer to save the money from 2 or 3 of these for a game a can play multiple times.
Never in a million years will I play one of these after having tried two boxes. Unlock has it bad stories, but is overall just a vastly superior series.
I lucked out and picked up two of these boxes for less than $4 a piece in target and tried them. They're not terrible, but unlock definitely has a better system in my opinion. I ended up trading up both exit games I got for another solid boardgame, and I don't miss them, nor do I feel obligated to show people how to play it. With the unlock boxes, I try to introduce it to as many people as possible. What did you find bad about these boxes?

The only Exit I've played was an advent calendar. It was great! I'd totally play more!

Perfect, I'm planning on trying some of these this weekend?
I don't know.

I've played around 15 exit games at an average price of $7

Picked up the enchanted forest last weekend on a whim, excited to play with the family this weekend! Timely review!
