The “scratches” can be removed with an adhesive remover. I used goof off. I removed my aero inserts with the wheels off, and used a rubber mallet with a towel to hit them. Sounds scary but it worked great. Left some of those scratches, but as stated, it can be removed with adhesive remover.
Tesla should give the option to buy a Model 3 Performance with those ugly Aero covers and without the ugly bolt holes in the rims that are used to secure the smaller Aero covers inserts.
Nice explanation and thorough review.
Great video. I did see some using the plastic tool with the rim still on the vehicle. I would recommend taking them off and using your method.

Adhesive remover does not remove the scratches..
@@OutofSpecDetailing I guess I got lucky then
Awesome work and helpful information! Might just do this after I switch to my winter wheels. Definitely more work than it should be 😅
Wish I would have watched this before I took mine off. 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼♂️
I think you said it, but not sure because you didn’t show it. I should ceramic coat the aero caps too?
Yes!
Would it help to tape up the outside of the wheel before popping off the plastic insert?
Hi ,, What kind of soap did you use in your foam cannon, it looked like it had good coverage
Can you re insert the small aero covers after removing them??
I drilled a pilot hole in my covers. Very easy
@08:50 no one uses that pilot hole that use to be there. Been pulling from the edge for years without breaking it
Uberturbines required the pilot hole
Even on the regular non-perf wheels, the pop in/out design always bugged me.
I would try putting WD-40 on before to create much less friction
Your some man for one man.
I feel like I’m the only person who’s not eager to yank those covers off
I think I'll keep my 2021 🤣
Nice
Tesla has some great engineering but overcomplicating a wheel design like this one is just dumb.
You sound so stupid. The only people over complicating it are the people that wanna remove the covers and going down this rabbit hole.

Car has to be sold as tested by the EPA & NHTSA
Don’t remove covers. Got it
This topic doesn’t need to be a dissertation. And that’s coming from someone who’s extremely neurotic and talkative.
Tesla doesn't even give you a spare wheel and jack and etc...
Man, Tesla wheels suck! Lol
I actually like how they look, but they seem to be very soft aluminum alloy, since they scratch so easily when curbed.
