Just because they used two different consoles in the fixes, doesn't mean it is fake. Yes, there is the possibility that this is false and was staged, but it's also possible that they recorded multiple fixes and stitched together the best-recorded parts in post. This would account for the differences. Also, this technique makes sense - the cause of the YLOD is the CPU or video card coming loose when the system runs hot due to solder melting. The use of a hair dryer or heat gun to re-melt the solder while it is in a position for them to re-seat seems like a legitimate strategy for a fix.
In the video he indicates it is 20-30 minutes of heat, and that you use a towel (he specifies cotton, probably due to the low heat transfer) to help retain the heat.
I completely disagree, while reflowing Is a option it isn't viable. Of course the technique makes sense: Reflow or Reball. IMHO you NEED to reball. The 'hair dryer' method will more than likely damage your system than anything. But there are slim chances of this working. And as well, when ya spot a fake, ya spot a fake. if you legit want a reflow, don't do no silly hair dryer/towel shenanigans, be a good man and take it a apart the right way and grab a decent heat gun and heat the chips directly!

I thought I’d search TH-cam to see if there was an easy fix and found this video. Tried it without expecting it to work, but it totally did! Feels amazing bringing a PS3 back to life after 10 years of death. Wish this video existed back then. Would have saved myself the few hundred bucks replacing it.

I put mine in the oven for bake 275 for 10 to 15 minutes and I put on the table for my thanksgiving meal and put potatoes all over it and put spices… IT WAS DELICIOUS

So...we just don't care about all the plastic and wires that can melt? Also if you do it this way you're heating your entire console which is last thing you want to do as you're loosening up the solder on more than just the CPU and GPU.

Unfortunately the only way to fix this issue is to actually know what your doing. Do research. Don't treat what could be a paper cut by casting your whole arm, so to speak.

Thats due to your ps3 overheating whats shown in the video is an overheating warning not the yellow light of death whats going on with your ps3 is its not cooling itself properly so when ever its got a harder workload it overheats the way to fix it is to reapply the thermal paste inside your ps3 or you run the risk of getting the yellow light of death

I used to work at a computer repair shop and I did this to at least 3 PlayStations before and only one of them I had to try again before it worked. This video is not fake. It's likely due to thermal paste issues which the heat adjusts or something like that.

Attention to all tolls who tries this method of fixing your PS3. The reason your PS3 keep shutting of is because there is so much dust on your fan that stops air flow into the fan ,. Results of that the fan can't cool the cpu. It happens instantly because there is no airflow on it. If you use a hair dryer or heat gun those dust could catch fire. You can either blow it with an air compressor without opening the console or you can open your console and dust it out with air or vacuum cleaner. DO NOT USE HEAT SOURCE INTO YOUR SYSTEM WHEN IT HAS FULL OF DUST , IT IS A BIG FIRE HAZARD!!!

The reason of so many don't tell you about what happends is because of the capassiter. Those are the ones they tell you why to use a heat gun. That doesn't solve the problem at all. Its, the capassitirs. Replace them, then add new model capassiters.
