Thank you, Kelly, for this very detailed video on a DJI 03 FPV Drone setup. Even though I don't have an FPV drone, I could upgrade the firmware after watching this video. Nicely Done, Sir. I wish You, Team RSD, and your families a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year.
I'm just learning but watching another video the presenter said you don't need to have the drone turned on to access the 03 air unit. It's powered thru the data cable. Solves the overheating problem. I tried it. It works.
hi when i set up the pitch and the roll the drone keeps pitching or rolling, i saw in a video that i have to change AETR1234 with others but doesn't work... how can i fix that? thank you!
I don’t understand why nobody has the same issue as me which is calibrating camera in the consumer series the 03 will not work for on 5 out of 6 units it just says calibration call Dji and I don’t want to call Dji do you know what I’m doing to cause this?
Is there any explanation of how to configure the other buttons on the DJI controller please? I have the RC 3 but not sure what all the AUX buttons are in relation to my controller.
We haven't explored the RC3 yet, but (assuming you've connected it to a drone in betaflight) you can always set the aux to auto in Betaflight, and flip a switch or press a button and see what it automatically selects. Hopefully that makes sense.
@@readysetdrone yeah thank you so much. I was gonna wait for O4 to come out but cant wait lol so went for iFlight Nazgul Evoque 5 with O3. Will watch your video when setting up. :)
@@SunriseWaterMedia oh wow. It should be set to default. Yes unless the FC is turned and I didn’t see it. I’m OCD when it comes to setting up quads in BF. I have like a preflight check list. And as he was setting up it was just one of the things that stood out. I use same stacks in all my quads. Geprc gyro might be different.
Brilliant, thank you for the tutorial! Question, are you able to customize the controller with other functions? For example, if I connect and power a naked GoPro to the FC, could I program start / stop recording of the GoPro by assigning it to a controller function?
We've not done anything as complex as that, but if you know how to do that in betaflight, then it shouldn't be a problem. Those switches are aux channels. 👍
Nice video thank you! I am thinking of picking this drone up but have a feeling they might be bringing out updated versions with the O4 air unit soon, so might wait a little! Whats the deal if your goggles and controller are already bound to another drone please? Be it DJI or a custom one? Easy to swap between them?
thanks for the video it helped me get my motors spinning for the first time - however anything over about 10 or 20 percent throttle and motors spool up to full speed regardless of stick position - only remedy - stop switch - any ideas ?
Hmmm...that is weird. I wonder if it's the throttle rate setting? Question - when you arm the quad and move the stick to 10%, does it spin slowly (around 10%) and then jump to 100% as you push the stick beyond 20% up? Do all 4 start spinning really fast? What kind of quad is it?
Is there an option in betaflight to map the "start recording" button on the controller 2 if I have an SD card in the drone. Or do I just somehow start the recording from the goggles menu before/in flight ?
I'm not sure about the Betaflight setting, but in the camera section in the goggles, you can set it to auto record when you arm. Or, if you have the DJI controller, if you decide to not auto record, you can just press the record button on the RC.
@@readysetdrone Apparently the record button on the controller was already bound to record on the air unit as you said, I didn't have to map it. I just took that for granted since everything else pretty much needed to. So its all good! Thank you!

Great question. We recently made a set-up video about the Cinerace20 v2 O3 which might help. Here's the section where we set up the switches in Betaflight for the DJI FPV controller 2. Hopefully that helps. th-cam.com/video/8grw_SIt4OE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s7f_3XmNdRjErx6T&t=325 If you're looking to configure the uarts for use with O3 Air Unit, we generally just buy the DJI BNF quads, so I'd have to check Betaflight and see. If you would like to have that info to compare, let me know.
I would love to have that info! I purchased mark5 O3 HD and added ELRS with the intent to move away from the Remote controller 2 one day… but wanted to use it for the time being… can’t get it working
Thanks for this video. But somehow, I'm missing something. I just bought an o3 air unit to replace the hdzero vtx. I wish to use the dji controller instead of my radiomaster. I see in your receiver tab that yours is set to Serial RX using SBUS. I did changed mine to the SBUS as well but no luck. My old transmitter was on port 6. I turned off Serial RX of port 6; no luck. I tried to enable Serial rx on the same port I put the DJI air unit; no luck. I have to say that I'm using the new goggle 3 and the controller 3. The controller is binded with the goggle. the google are binded with the air unit properly and I see the video in them. Ho yes... when I turn off the controller, I get a message in the goggle that there are interference with the controller. What needs to be changed to replace my radiomaster with the dji controller?
We haven't yet tried to fly an O3 Air Unit quad with the Goggles 3 and controller 3, but the only thing that comes to mind is the physical wiring to the flight controller from the air unit. Do you have the SBUS wire soldered correctly?
@readysetdrone ha... when I checked the soldering (which was ok) I saw a little R2 beside the SBUS label. Sounds like the sbus is using uart 2 on my fc. I assumed that the SBUS was using the same port as the air unit. But it's not. I have to move my GPS to another port before I can use it. But thanks to your suggestion to check the soldering. That's how I found that out.
Ok I got it to work. Yes, I had to use uart 2, but the main thing was that selecting SBUS doesn't do the trick by itself. I had to reflash the firmware but this time selecting the communication SBUS instead of the cross fire. Then after that everything started to work. I hope this helps others...
