As a New Yorker it is not humanly possible to appreciate this sketch anymore than I already do. Absolutely nailed it.
Which part? The ridiculous exaggeration? What are people actually seeing as familiar?
As a former New Yorker… i agree… they absolutely nailed it!
It’s like that? 😂
@@bluemoon7363 agreed
Is the subway scene that realistic?
Punkie as the no-nonsense church lady dealing with the rat took me out 🤣
"Y'ALL SCARED OF A DAMN RAT!!!"😂😂😂
@@debbiedoodiedandi😂😂😂💀💀💀
That part and Kennan 😅😅
This part really gets me cracking up for real 😂 I gotta sometimes rewind it
She made me pee my pants laughing. I had tears in my eyes 🤣🤣🤣
Devon killed it. Hes been steadily improving as a performer imho ,and that dramatic performance was definitely a pleasant surprise.
he was perfect for this role. this is downright his best sketch.
Yea he was good. He brings something different from Chris Redd, who i miss on this show
I miss Chris too. Devon was great.
I absolutely agree! Devon was honestly so flat and boring last season--it is a marked change this season. He elevates every sketch he's in now.
Agreed - you can see the growth
Ego popping each balloon sent me 😂😂
I'm still laughing, and it's been 11 hours since the episode ended. 😅😅😅
Seriously people, this skit is golden!!! This is what a typical New York subway ride could be!!! It's like a box of chocolate!!! You don't know what you're going to get!!! Hilarious!!
it's insanely accurate
You don't know what you're going to get, but at the same time, you know exactly what you're going to get!
try Bus 90/91 in Milano at night! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chicago be like that too!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯🙏🙏
Ok. I ended up both crying and laughing at the end of this skit. This is probably one of the best written skits I've seen in a long time.
They've done this "background" sketch a few times. The seriousness of the main conversation really mkes sketch funny, hope to see more.
This was just completely unfunny
@@richarddecredico6098 Imagine responding to someone's opinion with this "well, actually" bs.
Like the Waffle House sketch.
another painfully over the top non-funny non-joke joke @@stephenchavez5225
Waffle House was not the first?! What have I missed?
The background is hilarious but JAJ and Devon really NAILED the dramatic. Definitely bringing it so far 😊
They kept a straight face and the seriousness lol
Yeah no way I would’ve been able to do that lol
It's like a test of their acting skills what's happening in the background and it's also NEW YORK. Genius.
Auntie in the big ass church hat handling that rat like a boss.
I've been watching SNL for 40 years and I've never seen a sketch that I have to go back to. Until now. The way it is written so there is a separate dramatic story and a separate comedic story is mind blowing. This sketch isn't a sketch, it is a masterful work of cinematography and writing. It warrants multiple viewings!
Brilliant! I had to watch it twice! 😂
@@EagleM357Yes! This sketch totally made me think of the Waffle House sketch from last season! Insanity in the background, while something serious/dramatic is going on in the foreground. Glad you linked it or I was gonna have to look for it to add it. Guessing the same writer(s) are responsible for this sketch.
Could you imagine a 90 minute movie where this was happening? That would be such an epic endeavor and masterpiece.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The foreground story actually made me tear up. It was played to Perfection!! ❤
I truly wish we had *more* empathy in the world! 😢
@@EagleM357Yep. Waffle was hilarious. This one was better.
I can't breathe; weeping with laughter at the whole subway scene. I'm a native New Yorker and that was a documentary.
I love it when SNL can be artsy and clever and funny and ridiculous at the same time.
Kenan: "Excuse me, sir. May I show you something spectacular?"
Post-SNL, I can really see Devon Walker in more serious, Oscar-worthy roles in the future, thanks to this.
They should put the rocket on his back for sure hopefully he has a great agent and team!
I think he will be. This was a very unique skit for SNL. Had emotion plus hilarious comedy. At the same time! How Devon and the other actor have straight faces while all that insanity was going on behind them! Wow.
You should really branch out your movie base if you think this.
@@shadowfilm7980Except it's not unique - they did it once before. Check out the Waffle House sketch with Jenna Ortega.
It worked for Jamie Foxx. Remember when he was on "In Living Color"?
Not the black lady getting mad and popping all the balloons😂
That was the best part 😂
Aint room on here for all that 😂😂😂
And that was just with her finger nails 🤣🤣🤣
@@beigefox6579lol😂 didn't notice that at first
With those long pointy fingernails 😂🤣😂🤣
This is basically the Will Smith movie “The pursuit of happiness” and the average day on a New York subway combined into one 3 1/2 minute scene 😂
In which he should've one an oscar
This was 2 1/2 minutes too long,
That’s what I was thinking.
To me the subway was wild.
There is so much happening inside the train.
Is this what happens to new york subway?
@@Notturnoir maybe some people didn't. Not everybody watches the same movies.
The most unrealistic part of this is the subway not leaving for three minutes
it happens but they usually keep the doors open (or like one shut one open)
Tell me you’re not a New Yorker without telling me you’re not a New Yorker
no ray, the unrealistic 'part' is an investment banker riding the tube...he would have a livery service to take him to his uptown penthouse or out to the island for the weekend...tell the entire world you're from the states w/o telling us you're from the states...cor blimey...
Just imagine someone got pushed into tracks at the next station
It is actually the most realistic. The doors just needed to be open.
These skits are always the funniest. Soft conversation/music while complete chaos ensues in the background 😂
yes, the music~
It's actually really cliche.
I loved the Waffle House sketch. I loved this one. I hope they continue to do sketches like this 😂
The waffle House is the master piece since the lovers are unaware what ultimately love usually become(, chaos, which is represented by the activity in the waffle House) . Now this one is sadness & chaos?
nothing can top the Waffle House sketch. But glad to see them carry on the tradition.
Yeah, what's funny with these ones is that you start to pretty much faze out the "main" story going on and hardly pay attention to that dialogue because you're busy anticipating what wildness is going to happen next in the background lol.
Because of your comment I discovered the Waffle House sketch- thanks! 😂
I just watched this again and seriously I didn't hear a word these 2 spoke!!! That subway is just so amazingly accurate it should be a documentary about NYC SUBWAY 😅😅😅
That was an awesome skit. Very well written and executed.
Espwcially the slapstick.
All of it was 💯💯🎯🙏🙏
Because it imitated an actual day on the subway lol
Do people really jump on subway?
To me that's wild.
Im in Asia. And we dont do that
@karlwithak. That's not true at all. Tell us you've never had a job without telling us 🤣
I was in Manhattan for one week, and all of this happened on the subway. One dude had a fuckin' motorcycle, like a regular one, not a scooter.
yeah but I mean, how else was he supposed to go around? actually ride said motorcycle?!
Seriously he had to get somewhere fast! 😅😅😅
@benzaiten933 in NYC? You seen the traffic? 🤣🤣
What make? Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley, Honda?
Perhaps he was saving on ⛽️...
Punkie randomly coming in and slamming that rat against the glass was the funniest part! 😂
And when it jumped out of the bag afterwards...
Y’all scared of a dumbass rat
Agree
I burst out laughing- I watched a second time on mute to catch all the details. She killed me.❤😂
Brilliant sketch. Emmy worthy.
I agree!
painfully unfunny
@@richarddecredico6098 because you have no soul..
@@richarddecredico6098disagree, it was hilarious and heart warming at the same time, unlike your comment
Which one? The one in the foreground, or in the back?
"Why is this seat wet"😂
Something every New Yorker has said once
So many Will Smith jokes in one night…but also this was way too accurate to how public transit really is 😭😭 just the wet seat and random fights
the wet seats are always just spilled soft drinks....that's what I tell myself. Just a spill.
And just like Tom Cruise he has no self sense of humor to appreciate it
They also have entertainment on the subway. One guy asked me to excuse him so he could dance on a pole. He was very good. Then you had this group of men singing Mary don't you weep without music.
Punkie is golden! 😂
okay this is as high caliber as snl has ever been
I agree. This was an amazing production. They didn’t miss a thing
Are you 19 years old?
this shit was actually hilarious. didn't expect this AT ALL.
I love this style of sketch You have to watch it multiple times to fully appreciate all of the layers
I’ve never been to New York but I know for a fact that this would be considered an uneventful day on its subway
Sure kid, whatever you think from reading comic books. It’s SNL, not reality TV.
@@batgurrl i don’t know how to read
This is the most boring day on the New York subway.
You don't know what a fact is.
@@batgurrldon’t be a bully
Not knowing which part to pay attention to was the best part of this whole skit😂
I was dying! Please make this a weekly. You forgot the person that gets stuck in the door, the makeup artist, the mariachi band, the person with a bike, people moving furniture, mystery sticky stuff, etc...
And more rats and roaches! 😮😮😮
The guy taking up all the seats the pissing while lying down, and everyone scrambling to get out of the urine stream.
All that you mentioned, plus the people either asking for food, and / or donations to purchase food!
The guy with no legs in a wheelchair, begging on the platform.
😂😂😂 and there's much more 😂😂😂
Mikey Day laughing as he swats at Kenan’s dong. Hahaaaa
The subway rat looks good in a silk robe 👘🐀
Kenan as always owns the whole thing even though is only there for like 10 seconds
And the blurred out dong as long as my arm was there for 12 seconds.
The “Hello” at the end! 😅
Let me guess...he made a wacky face, and bugged out his eyes, like he does in every scene?
and it works in every scene@@goldbug1180
"Yes! More please!"
This was pure theatre vibe... The writers on strike kicking butt.. Go SNL, Beautifully written.
Does everything have to be a vibe these days? Grow up.
@@goldbug1180If it's not a vibe, that means you feel nothing. Feeling nothing is generally not a good thing. Let people feel things. Let people enjoy things.
The WGA strike ended in early October (which is normally around the time SNL comes back from summer break with new episodes), so they're not on strike anymore. SAG-AFTRA still is, but they gave SNL and the other late-night comedy shows permission to return to production.
ain't no room in here for all that... POP, POP, POP 😆
This is both very clever and funny. Had to watch it twice...
The guy who picks up the bag on the platform is the same one with the wet seat
Read a book
If you’re looking for the other skit with this premise it is WAFFLE HOUSE and they are both magnificent
The Rat scene really happened to me ! Couldn’t get it off my head dancing around. Everyone was laughing.
I love the reference to the waffle house sketch y’all are such geniuses
Yeah, I half expected Mikey to come flying through the train window
@@Ailar2209 : That was handled by the subway rat in this sketch.
@@Igaveyoumyfakename Yeah, that rat was such a trooper. Excellent stunt work
No for seriously!!! I’m going right back to that sketch because of
This! And I love it! Yeasss callbacks to good shit!
That’s what I was thinking. This is a hilarious format
JAJ really just disappeared into these random business characters and i love it so much 😂.
I hate that he's so perfect for this kind of typecast bc I...want him to get to be so much more...like when he played British grime rapper Milly Pounds
Omg... we need more of these. I think this was the second one? They are freaking hilarious and dramatically warm. I always have to come back to watch it seperately for the stories in the background and foreground. Well done writers! Well done to everyone physically creating the scenes. Bravo to the actors. The execution is perfection
Poor guy doesn't know what he is getting himself into getting on that subway😂😂
This is my favorite type of gag. It had me rolling the first time I watched it - pure gold all the way around.
The best skit in a long time. As a NYC resident so true. I've shared it with so many people and they all love it. I've watched it so many times and keep getting something new. Best concept, writing, and acting!
@@karlwithak.i think they mean the subway commotion. the resume is unimportant, its like a light reference to the pursuit of happiness
As a life-long New Yorker, I have to commend them for this hyper realistic skit! Wow, I mean, I can even picture the guy's face when he shows up for work on Monday & Security has his photo & info posted at the door. Simply amazing! Well done!
People folks, then post a security notice on the office door to call the police on them?
@@CalLadyQED Sorry, I don't understand.
@@echognomecal6742 , I missed a word. Was trying to write, "People hire folks then post a security notice...?" Sorry about that.
@@CalLadyQED Ah, np. Well...in cases where they're cornered & have to pacify an individual behaving in an aggressive/extreme manner. I was trying to write in the same spirit as the video...over the top.
...& there Are those who would find this behavior highly inappropriate & may very well just say, "Yeah, sure sure, job is yours" just to safely get away, figuring this is a desperate person who doesn't make the best decisions & who knows what they may do.
Keep this sketch format going! This one and Waffle House are both masterpieces! A big thanks to Mikey Day snd Streeter Seidell for continuing to write these.
How do you know who wrote which sketch?
One of the funniest sketches ever!
Get over it
The minute I saw they were using the same format as the Waffle House skit, I knew I was gonna love this. That's one of my favorite recent sketches 😭
I'm so glad this is a sequel. This is definitely one of my personal favorite sketch premises. I also love they kept Mikey Day's character like the exact same
Since I’m so early, (so happy to see this on my page)-thank you SNL for all your hard work for years and years. I have been watching you guys since I was in my teens and now that I’m in my late twenties, I’m struck with immense gratitude for everyone’s hard work paired with the joy, entertainment, and peace you all have given me for what has been most of my lifetime (And the same to so many others).
I know I’m not alone in saying that your works have helped me find my heart and mind in the most trying of times and I know most of us wouldn’t be here today without those well needed moments of laughter. Thank you, from a creative and gardener who is still trying to find themselves - and to all a good night! ❤
-also gosh this skit was so moving and dually freaking hilarious 😂👏

As a true New Yorker, I can say this is 100% true lol. If you can make it here, you can truly make it anywhere! 😂 Thanks to student metro cards we were actively riding the subways as of 12 years old. Ah good times good times!!!
They could have gone so much harder with the mayhem.
Like in the waffle house 😂😂
Don't need to. What makes it funny is that it's all realistic.
Nyc subways on a good day so be like that funnier sketch of the night keenan ,and punkie were best moments they stole the entire scene love it 😂😂😂.
I actually struggled trying to keep up with the dialogue but what was going on in the background was just hilarious... This was brilliant! 🗽
How Devon kept it straight without breaking was incredible. And Kenan steals it, as usual! I have to watch it again now to keep track of everything going on in the back.
It's actually filmed separately
Keenan stole it how? By playing the same character he always does: guy who bugs his eyes out?
@@goldbug1180You are a massive hater. You have like 10 comments on Kenan. If you don't like it, then don't watch it 🙄

Well executed all around. Punkie was my favorite in this.

One of the best skits in a while. I was seriously in tears.
THE SUBWAY ACCURACY!!! OMG
This and the dead poet's society sketches are officially now my favorites.
This is the best skit I’ve seen in a long time!
I am truly inspired….by that kick at 0:44
As far as I can that that was ACTUALLY Marcello doing the flip-kick. Which is... really hot, actually.
This skit deserves a special award.
The fact that this is both moving and completely absurd is a masterpiece. One of my favorite SNL sketches formats.
As a former subway commuter they got everything right...but they forgot about the dude that gets on the F train and drops a 💩 as the train goes from East Broadway into York St...full well knowing nobody can get out for like 10 mins.
🤣 Ha! Ha!...who ever wrote this sketch has definitely ridden on a New York City
I love how I’m barely paying attention to the conversation because I’m just so invested in what’s happening on the train 😂.
Omg! I grew up in NYC and EVERY SINGLE character in this skit is correct. I was even that girl on the train with all of my balloons😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 Oh my God this is hilarious!!!😂😂😂😂
I haven't laughed this hard in a while. Tears...
I know that the background stuff on the subway was important to the skit, but I was truly mesmerized by the dramatic story in the foreground! It was like I was watching a really good movie!!! Props to the actors! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Apart from the unrealistic train stop (easily ignored) this was a great sketch the main scene was somber and done brilliantly well and cinematic, it demanded my attn. the background scene constantly fought for my attn. upon watching the sketch I can’t really tell you what exactly went on in the background and that’s props to the main scene. I am gladly forced to watch it again and just focus on the background. Which might make me watch it again as a whole. Well done. Brilliant
Well done cast & crew! The writers are back, baby!
Loved the CGI rat! I thought it was gonna be a muppet.
This is SNL at its best. Loved every part of it.
The description they put on this video is hilarious in itself.
This weeks sketches are 🔥🔥. Really stepping it up.
OMG I can’t breathe! I can’t stop laughing
This sketch has already entered my Best of SNL playlist 🤣🤣🤣
As hilarious as the background action was, the story really got me emotional ❤

I'm so NY to the core...fights on the MTA train/bus are one of my top YT searches.. they needed somebody in an 8 Ball jacket (iykyk)
Of course the cars leave on time. This was a moment to portray what's happening in the World of work opportunity. Absolutely GREAT. Love me some SNL realism, welcome back 😂🎉😮
I just realized that’s Bad Bunny as the construction worker bagging the rat 😭😭
Have to watch this one at least twice-funnier the second time!
Laugh out loud funny! I love these background makes you bust out laughing skits. First, the Waffle House, now this. Wonder where they can go next? I hope that we soon find out. More please.
Possibly taking place in Paris,. London or Rome 😅
The first time, my focus was on the two characters. Then I re-watched it to focus on the characters inside the train. That is when I realized that this sketch is awesome!
Most of the calm stories have almost hidden background stories! That combination is the reason why we call them great.
Anyway always make sure to maintain a great resume to make your life easy & comfortable😁
The waffle house sketch is one of my absolute favorites, and I am so happy they made another one. I am dying with laughter 🤣🤣 Mikey, Heidi, and Ego are amazing!! Oh, and congratulations Curtis for getting the job lol.
