  • This video is a tutorial on how I wind my Turkish Spindles to have a round center pull ball. Not a traditional over 2, under 2 wind on. This wind on is stable immediately to facilitate removing the spindle immediately to start another cop without layers coming off. Great wind on for speed! Also great for beginners and advanced spinners who aren't worried about the patterned turtles.

Spinning Sara Turkish spindles are my fave. But the wind on can be slow. I do a temp cop which helps, but this is fantastic!

How do you find/not lose the beginning end of your single when you remove the cop?

If you have an inch or so of leader that you have coming out the top of the spindle hole, that generally all it takes to not lose the end. Normally it will slide out with the thick arm.

Does the winding on style make it easier to later ply the singles? Meaning does it unwind easier one way or the other? Thanks

I’ve not found that. It is possible the traditional gods eye wind on layers fall off at first, but if the turtles are rested they don’t misbehave too much. But this ball wind on doesn’t need resting to behave. It just works and works immediately.

Hi, do you use yarn that's already pre drafted?
Thankyou so much for this video tutorial.
    Tske care & stay safe.

Generally I do not. The exception to this is stubborn fibers that don't draft easily or fiber that is too thick for my spinning preference. Thanks for watching!
