@@ericcorse My father was trained as a motor mechanic during WW2. One of his expressions was "Like looking up a ducks arse with an umbrella up" which sounds fairly appropriate in this situation.
@@CapnJackSB Now that you mention it, I'll close my eyes to "turn them off" and get a better "picture" of what I'm feeling. Seems to make it easier to limit the useless sensory input.
Before I discovered this channel, I never knew watching people welding, hammering and spanner-turning could be so facinating! Keep up the good work guys (and girls of course!).
Same here mate the crap on telly sucks this just seems to hook you it's lads and a lass working on a tank. I think it's the kid in us still. Because it's interesting. We are drawn in even if it's unscrewing bolts 🔩 😅😅
Hahaha I’ve been in lotties position many times “does this really need all the washes/bolts?” Solid work from the team keeping these vehicles in running condition for all of us to enjoy!
I absolutely love Lottie. she's so knowledgeable - the way she explained that T55 was masterful. All the comments are really respectful towards her too. It's a shame when certain women believe they aren't welcome in science and engineering because of patriarchy, when in actual fact they are very welcome in those fields.
Good luck at AusArmourfest!!! I will be there next year. I just finished a 1943 M16A1 Army Halftrack with a quad 50 mount. If I could fiqure how to get it to Australia I would love to bring it! Anyway best of luck! Your guys and gals worked hard for this weekend!
Our girl Lottie is always the one sent into the cramped spaces and being asked to contort for the team. I say she gets a little special in her honor, not only to showcase what only she can do, but because she is A-DOOR-A-BALL 🐱 EDIT: Lottie gave me flashes of Tiananmen Square there for a second... lol
I know the big cats get a majority of love and attention and probably deservedly so, but there is something to be said about the early light tanks of the Wehrmacht. That 38-T is a real beauty and it being a runner takes it over the top.
it's just a pity that it is not in the original colors of the Czechoslovak Army cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/LT_vz._38#/media/Soubor:BAHNA_2018_-_024_crop.jpg
Poor old T34, glad it was a simple fix. I found when I was running my Centurion it was 10% fun and 90% maintenance and restoration. It eventually went to a good home and I have Daimler Ferrets now
Lottie, our heroine! :-) Ya'll have a great weekend! Kurt, the Star Spangled Banner was terrific!! And the inside shot with Lottie driving the 38t was fabulous! One of my favourite tanks. Thanks!
Ran across you last night for first time. Excellent production. My Mom's (95) brother-in-law was a Panzer Commander during the war. She came to America in 1953. Amazing to see your guys salvage battle damaged armor/metal 😉
Lottie has such a great attitude and sense of humor! It looks like a lot of hard work to restore and maintain these tanks, but it's great to see that you also have fun doing it.
T34/85 - A simple, easy five minute fix which needs a lot of bolts undoing , a very heavy steel plate lifting followed by blind contortions to replace a naffin' sheared Bolt. ( Personally I'd have turned the air blue) but seriously well done guys. Oh and By the way the Exhibits in this place look fantastic and are a credit to you ALL. Have a great Weekend.
Who knew that working on a T34 requires mechanical and acrobatic skill. Now imagine have to do that outdoors at minus 15 degrees C. Tough nuts those Red Army soldiers. Looking forward to seeing the brothers working together on the Stug.
Lottie is a wonderful person not scared to turn herself into knots to get the job done, I never knew about your channel until I spotted it on Utube a couple of weeks ago ,since then I’ve been scouring Utube for as much about you and what you do and from what I’ve seen the lot of you are amazing people, from completely reconstructing parts of a tank to totally stripping cleaning and rebuilding the entire machine , I take my hat off to all of you people, well done , I’m adding a trip up to you on my bucket list , all the best from Tassie ❤🎉❤🎉
Looking forward to the live streaming! A chance to see such rare machinery in motion. Definitely the museum is on my bucket list! Best wishes for a great armourfest from the UK 🇬🇧
I used to operate the M551 Sheridan when I was with the 82ABN DIVISION in 74 - 78!! 4/68th LT. ABN BATTALION at FT. BRAGG, N.C. MOS. 11E1PR8!! Loved it! I do miss jumping out of the aircraft with the tanks & doing L.A.P.E.S.with them!! AAATW 4 LIFE!
Love watching your videos and would love to see you facility and country someday. Loved the addition of the National Anthem 😀. A Brother and Friend from the US. 🇺🇸🇦🇺
The Shwimwagon or Kubla wagon as some call it was a great find. There are some You Tube videos where they restored some and did some testing in and out of a lake to see it they were worth their mustard. Pretty innovative for the day.
That last bit starting the tank was fantastic Batteries would be a constant issue My job at 5th aviation was battery service With all your tanks I suspect you would have a full time battery service guy 👍👍👍
Сам механик. Наткнулся на канал случайно. Занимаюсь примерно тем же , но в меньших маштабах. Но то как это делаете вы , это божественно! Здесь даже перевод не нужен. Из России с любовью.
The T34/85 is a BEAST! I saw one in action at a reenactment. One thing I always wondered, though is why they put the extra gas tanks on the outside. They seem really vulnerable to rupture and fire there, no?
I’ve seen one in a museum and it’s for sure a beast. I’ve always wondered the same thing and I still think about it lol From what I have read and believe was they do it is to save space inside for more ammo. It’s also diesel fuel which is tough to get lit from shooting at it. You would probably need a good puddle of it on the engine deck and then hit it with an explosive round but even then it’s not 100%
The inertia starter on the panther is a good work out. In the Royal Navy many moons ago we had a Rover Gas Turbine fire pump for emergency ships firemain supply and that had the same workout to get it going but we were young a keen and 18 but was still hard and then the turbine would catch and rev to 40,000rpm.
Another great video and your museum goes on my 'bucket list' if I ever get to the land down under. As a retired photographer I think you do a good job but I think you could do a better job, and end up with a better product, if you worked with a gimbal. They came along after I retired but the results look amazing. Not trying to be critical, just trying to help.
I like your videos very much, great insight in all the needed detail work 👏👏👏 Great work from all the people at the museum to keep those vehicles in running condition
Really enjoying the channel. Just down the road SE of Brisbane. Have been involved with WW2 jeeps since mid '70's. Currently have a modified, but stock appearance. Have quite a nice little technical/history library, also get US mags Military Trader/Historic Military Vehicles. Loved the Schwimmwagen. Noted the comment after the hard starting of the vehicle on 6 volts of the intention to convert to 12 volts. Comment from one of the USA articles is a good 6 volt system is just fine, this guy quoted starting his jeep in very low temperatures in winter on 6 volt. Secret seems to be, apart from a good battery of course, to ensure all connections and especially grounds are perfect. Try to keep it original, but I do understand some of your compromises. Have a very old good mate in Mareeba. Hope to visit him and will try to plan to attend tankfest next year. Oh by the way, saw Steve applying antiseize to average sized bolts in one episode. If he is applying antiseize to small fasteners, try a medium artists brush. You still get the stuff all over your fingers, but you have a bit more control on the small stuff. antiseize certainly epitomises the old saying "sticks like s**t to a blanket. Love your work!! Cheeers
The sound of the Panther firing up was pretty impressive.
That amazing noise... I know the Germans were the opposition but you can't help but admire their war machinery.
Yes. It’s like he wanted to say : I was waiting and prepapred to come alive!
Fired up at first crank.
Lottie's a Trooper! Trying to reinstall a smal pin upside-down and half blind is never an easy task!
Lottie should be considered by the Field Engineers for the title of Pukha Sapper, working upside down (err...dare I say it; "down under")
There isn't a much worse position to do something like that.

I love seeing Lotti and Peter - could we see them a bit more often? They are a great team
That episode was EPIC !! Just as well you guys have got Lotty to get in those spots, you would be in real trouble otherwise 😂. Another great video 👍
Thank you our Aussie friends for playing The Star-Spangled Banner 🫡🇺🇸 🤜🏻🤛🏻🇦🇺

Thought exactly the same...

Welcome to the Aus Armour team Ryan! You made this episode fun to watch, I can't wait to watch all of the progress you make on your future projects
I worked on & have driven that Hotchkiss tank when it was in Tauranga, New Zealand. Nice to see its in good hands.
Thanks!

That hinged rear deck on the T34 is genius for maintenance, hell of an episode Kurt, loved it.
A lot of bolts, and big engines, gotta love it!
Are all members of AusArmour former and current members of armour corps , it is great to see them working on historical machinery well done
Mein gott himmel. The big Cat startup was truly inspiring. Love the inertia starter. Thanks for posting.
Great to see the preparations the AZ team does and the armor running, it will be a great armor fest.
Congratulations Ryan on joining the team. Cheers

Nothing like a thin youngster for energy and wriggle potential inside an engine bay. Xx

Awesome end to this one, sounded amazing. Btw, I am so envious, working around these machines and the history involved!
😎👍👍 great too see the twins looking after the Panther 💜
Superb guys ... and Lottie "The tank Whisperer".
The Panther engine sounds so good

....and she would go!
Just fantastic.
Very nice girl and a true help, not affraid to put “hands on grease”.
I do not see this kind of knoledge and will on other TH-cam sites . . .
Good work, Lotte! Wow, wish I could be up there to see all those - and more - in action.
Another good video all!!!!! Look forward to the livestream!!!! Good to see the twins still doing what they love to do!!!
That "wind up" starter reminded me of the old push/inertia drive toys we used to have when I was a kid. Good video content Kurt.
I was thinking of the Messerschmitt Me 109...it was behind the starboard engine cover.
Lottie is the new MVP of the show!!
That was one hell of a "to do list" with some good work arounds, I hope it all goes like clock work for you🤞
My Grandfather drove a M8 Greyhound a fair bit in early WWII.
