Daryl and Kurt go on an adventure to country Victoria and come accross probably the greatest tank BARN FIND in Australia.
This WWII Grant Tank is part of the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum's restoration program.

How generous is Johno!, In a time where people are increasingly selfish, he now only donated, but it cost him money and time to get those out. You restored my faith in people mate.

There is nothing wrong with The People. It is politicians who want to divide to rule. Big government is a cancer for every country.
Doubt it’s a donation. Anything the museum doesn’t need there’s a worldwide market for it. It’s business.

The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum might or has now the world's largest collection of Grant tanks. Thanks to generosity of three generations of Parker family
Whats more important is that they have spares to trade with other museums for the parts they need......

Based on the amount of tanks they pulled from the hedges in this guys back yard, it’s fair to assume he may have been trying to make his own army forces

As an ex soldier, if you have large moves like this, call individual army units and suggest they support the museum by doing a training lift. The soldiers love it. It gives lots of good training. And it will probably just cost you a bbq lunch and maybe some beers at the end. Let army recruiting know as they might help negotiate.
I did some stuff like this and it was great.
The only problem with that is that it will take them two weeks to move one thing...still it woiuldnt hurt to have a few strong lads around. Charles
85 Tp, and the descendants of 158 (Tk Tptr) Tp would be all over that like a rash. I carried a Sentinel from the Sydney Railway Workshop back to the Pucka Armour museum in 93... Some of the questions I got over the 2 way would make your head spin...Turned the wireless off so I could concentrate on driving...

The tanks were a great find but that FAMILY of Johnno's! "Its lucky for us Johnno has an earth-moving business." A true understatement! Amazingly capable people, smiling, helpful, and WITH all kinds of earth-moving equipment. What are the chances?? Your family is great Johnno! You're a legend!

These Grants and Grant parts will be enough for an awful lot of Workshop Wednesdays. My congratulations that you could get all those parts. And I hope that you will get the Stuarts some time in the future too. I will probably never make it from my German small town to Cairns in Australia, so I will watch your channel on the biggest screen at my home to get a good feeling of AusArmour.
It still blows my mind that such a stash existed at all in this day and age, not just the Grants but all the rest around it, Stuarts, Universal Carriers, Trucks and Armoured Cars, you’ve got enough there for restoration projects for the next 50 years!! Great video and looking forward to part 3.

Just watched the whole thing WOW what a treasure trove of History. I can see a 4 tank plt of these M3's all set up and painted for the Australian Armored Force from WW2. What a find guys and I am drooling over these last few episodes. Cheers from Oregon USA BTW I am an Old DAT on the M1IP(Army) and a TOW2 gunner(Marines and Army) so anything with tracks and guns is good in my book. Have fun everyone

One thing I've learned from watching TH-cam is you can only find stuff like this in barns. Never in any other types of structures.

A true gentleman. Australia must be extremely proud of Johno. Heck, I'm not even Australian and I salute the man. I hope the restored vehicles bear his name with pride. Along with the skilled workers who bring these vehicles back from extinction, it is vital work to ensure that future generations do not forget the sacrifices made. Wars are not to be revered. Remembering those who served is essential. Cheers guys.

Please do a restoration of a tank where the weathering on the outside, as well as the original paint remains untouched. It's so extremely rare to see war time pigment still on these tanks. And adds a very strong impression to the tank itself.

That went too quick . Thanks very much Johnno and all the Lads with the extraction and contribution to Aussie Armoured History . Everytime I see a Bren Gun Carrier i think My Grandfather could of been the Blacksmith making it at the Woodville Holden Plant ( now a Bunnings) . He wasnt allowed to go to war as the Country needed his Blacksmith skills
60+ years ago, I remember old tanks all across the Wimmera, particularly a yard full of bits just outside Murrayville. I often wondered what became of them; perhaps some of these are the ones I remember from my youth. Good to see them going to a museum !
Thanks guys for this, as an ex-AFV crewman and now run a workshop looking after steam locomotives I really appreciate the amount of work you put it. The videos really do convey the ups and downs in this sort of work without the hype that some tv shows like to over do and it’s very much appreciated. Thanks once again.

This has to be the best channel on TH-cam.
What a super find and a generous host! That lot reminds me of my grandpa's "junk" collection outside of his workshop on the ranch. As a kid, it was a treasure for making up "forts" and hiding from chores in old (and I do mean OLD) farm equipment dating back to the very early 1900's (Model T's, A's, all kinds of haying stuff). Can't believe a rattler didn't use us for target practice. Thanks for dredging up fond memories from a 79 year old brain!

What a great heart you have Johno, to donate so much uniquely Australian WW2 history, I can only hope Oz Armour will do you your family your father and the whole nation proud by restoring these beautiful Grant tanks to their original and different specs.
It's so amazing that all this military equipment was turned into farming equipment when the war was over. Excellent recycling but harvest time must have looked like the battle of Kursk.
As an American, it’s great to see these classic American tanks getting restored and learning the history around them and what other countries have done with them.

i wonder how many other stashes are sitting around Australia that nobody knows about. Somebody should send this extraordinary find to the media as a feel good story to see if anything else can be shaken out of the bush.

It's mind boggling that such an incredible collection of rare vehicles has been hidden away for all these years. It really makes you wonder what else is out there tucked away in barns and sheds across the world!

Fantastic can-do attitude on display. A decade ago I spent two years trying to have a Great War German howitzer dug up and restored in Britain to mark the centenary. It's the only one of its kind in the country and one of only 12 in existence. When it came to support or assistance I was turned down by all the major military museums, the Army, the local council, local history groups, local businesses - in fact by everyone but the nearest Royal Naval Reserve unit. In the end I had to give up and it's still lying buried where it has been since the 1920s. I wish we had people like the Oz Armour Team and Jono over here.

Never been a great fan of the Grant, but watching that first one roll out of the scrub almost brought a tear to my eye. You blokes will have so much fun getting them back in one piece. Wish I could come down the hill and just sit in the corner of the shop and watch...
Oh, I spent 3 years posted to Pucka, and watching Daz run round in shorts while everyone else is rugged up is hilarious... Reminds me of me... North Queenslanders showing up the Mexicans.
Finally, good on Johnno for having all that history, and sharing it with you. I never knew the place existed, and I was 15 minutes away for years!
