      You do realize there's actually REAL running coaches who provide advice on TH-cam, right? Coaches who've actually achieved REAL results on the world athletics stage. Sage Canaday is one runner that comes to mind.
      In fact, it's likely that Nick Bare has watched, has taken a lot from and is re-hashing what he's learned from their uploads.

      Ben Harris that makes sense, but if that’s what he thinks, why are some of the most elite runners in the world and USA on Strava? Their training plans are probably more “secret” than nicks because they are training under some of the best coaches in the world. Not attacking you* just saying it doesn’t make sense. (:

    My 2 cents: although my build and fitness history is different from you, I personally regret having put lifting to the side for more running volume. Leading up to and after my marathon last year, i dropped the majority of my lifting to simple bodyweight sessions, and replaced it with running, which resulted in some overuse issues and strength imbalances, and ultimately a worse time I believe. I’d encourage keeping a couple sessions a week for (easy to recover from) strength and explosive movements (heavy lifting, Olympic lifting, pro athlete stuff, etc..) and some preventative or corrective movements (think lateral movements, clam shells, etc..) things that are common issues for runners. I’ll end with the theory partially supporting the idea:
    Increasing your body’s max capacity (muscles, joints, ligaments, CNS) for movement, decreases the percentage of your capacity a certain movement takes. Expressed as force per foot strike :
    500lb strike/1000lb capacity=50%
    500lb strike/1250lb capacity=40%
    Good luck with your training!

    Something to do to improve your cadence as well that haven't seen you mention in any of your videos. When doing you running form drills do them at a cadence rate with the metronome. Also when doing treadmill work you do them at set speed but to the metronome with an increase of +2,+4,+6 for certain amount of time.

    Make sure you run in those vapor flys before the big day, get 50 miles or so on them, the more you run in them the better you will feel and speed up, although no break in is needed I feel after 50 miles the ride is snappy more so, I no train in my old ones with 250 plus miles and have another pair to race in, well actually several pairs,

    You should use more specificity with your resistance training. Understanding you want to decrease weight. Although it's a good opportunity for you to improve your running mechanics. For example, for your trunk exercises ("core"), you should incorporate more lumbopelvic control movements. These are really good for injury prevention and running mechanics. More applicable to running than hanging leg raises and GHD sit-ups. Just food for thought!

    If you really wanna qualify your gonna need at least a 2:55 sub 18 5k sub 38 10k sub 1:27 half....and training for another marathon in 8 weeks is a bad idea. And probably cut all that pre workout out as well as going all out body workouts 6 days a week. And you gotta get your feet tested as well as what's best for your feet, not just throw on another pair, I hope you don't over train. I only say this cause I see A LOT of me in this, the mindset, the planning, the body style, idk what you say I know your hurting. I was into the lifting soccer, flag football, crossfit and then flipped a switch bought some on clouds and said I was gonna run a 1:35, half..... Ran a 1:50 took a yr and a half to break 1:40 3 yrs later I'm finally able to break 1:39.and now trying for a 1:35. The point I'm making is it will take at least a good year aerobic Base building. You're going to need accept the fact that your body is going to get a lot smaller probably more than you're comfortable with. Your body crashed at 10 MI which means that you are probably going to need to work on your half and your 10K I'm sure some other people have said all along the same thing take it all in as information and process. I pray you do qualify

      Slim56 good luck on the Marine Corps half! That route is TOUGH (assuming there’s only the 1 in Fredericksburg VA), especially around mile 10ish. There’s a huge hill going up to the hospital that pretty much forces anyone who doesn’t train with hills to walk.

      Irun26.2 ...That guy is great ... really inspiring ... but in my opinion what nick needs is not inspiration instead he needs better information ... he needs a better Coach because any coach that would tell him that he can knock 24 minutes off of his marathon in 8 weeks is just crazy ... I understand that is going to be running an easier course but the timing is just too short! Nevermind the fact that marathons are very stressful on your body it takes 4-6 weeks to recover from one and instead of taking it easy hes jumping back into training 🤦‍♂️ its risking burnout or injury ... this guy's a hard worker but he needs to find a better game plan!!!

Hansons marathon method is a great book that could be used as a source as well as the Running Formula by DR Jack Daniels ... hope that info helps!

    The Nike vaporfly's are amazing shoes, but make sure you save them for your actual marathon! They are FAR from durable and can go flat anywhere from 150-200 miles. Also if you train in other shoes and throw those bad boys on for your marathon you'll feel so damn fast.

    Looking shredded. Fairly new to the running deal. What’s the goal with a faster cadence? Does it improve foot strike or what? Thanks

    • @benjaminfarias6451
      @benjaminfarias6451 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simply put ➡️ faster cadence (some where in the ballpark of 180 steps per minute) can ➡️ make you faster ➡️ make you more efficient over longer distances ➡️ and most importantly Prevent Injury .... proper cadence reinforces proper form where your foot is acting like a spring landing under your center of gravity

    Hi Nick, how much muscle mass are you willing to sacrifice to improve your time? Are you purposefully trying to preserve as much mass as possible which is why your are still doing resistance training up to 5-6 times per week. Why not focus more on running and cut down resistance training to maybe 3 times per week? I feel like you can probably cut down your time by just simply losing mass. Just curious as I am also someone who would like to improve their running time and unwilling to sacrifice their gains. Just want to know what your overall intention is.

      justin zhang i think Josh Bridges talks about it and Kara Saunders as well. It’s basically a chest freezer. You caulk the corners inside and fill ‘er up. We have ours on a timer so it only runs a couple hours a day.

    I know you want to make it to Boston but you’ve been training at such high intensities for over a year now you may need a month or so break so you don’t burnout

    • @mrpfvc
      @mrpfvc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sirohi i’d encourage you to dedicate at least 3 months of no more than 20 miles a week (if not less) and a pace no faster than 9-10 min miles. It will take dedication to “hold back” and do that but you’ll be building the base and foundation you need to add on work later in the year. An appropriate goal will be to finish a marathon without stopping (from not running at all to running a marathon in a year). Save the Boston Qualifier and OTQ attempts for years 2 and 3 😉

      My suggestion for you is to Learn proper running form ... trust me it's more complicated then you think ... watch videos on TH-cam ... and learn and be familiar with terminology such as Cadence ... because this will pay off and will help you avoid injury!
