  • In this video I show how to create the Maori Edge on the Diamonds & Bars Twill Rug. The Maori Edge was developed by Peter Collingwood and can be found in the book "Techniquess of Rug Weaving". This book is available for free from www2.cs.arizon...
The Maori Edge is a 5-step process completed along the entire edge twice, creating 2 ridges:
To begin, starting from the left, pass thread 1 behind thread 2, pass thread 2 behind thread 3, move thread 1 & 2 to extend up with thread 3 & 4 extending down. This is only done at the beginning. Continue across the length using the following 5 steps:
    1. Cross the bottom right thread over the bottom left thread
    2. Bring the top left thread down between the 2 crossed threads.
    3. Bring the bottom right thread up to become the top far right thread.
    4. Cross the next warp thread over the bottom right thread.
    5. Move the bottom right thread up to become the top far right thread and move the top left thread over the the left.
This video is a continuation of the previous 5 videos:

Thank you so much. My next video will show the "wet" finishing, blocking and the final product. I'm really pleased with how it turned out!
