My Grandmother would say that a ladybug in the house is a good sign. Ladybugs rather hibernate over winter in a cold by not frozen window or place and then they will be stronger in numbers in Spring to rejoin the garden and do their job! They eat aphids making they a gardens good friend list for good helper bugs in the garden. The card with the kilts is so darling and especially caught my attention because I am looking for a good kilt pattern/instruction for construction. I am also really loving this fall quilt of your Witch's Garden. Oh, sew many quilts to be sewn. Somehow at 62 my hand quilting is really getting more precise and faster. A new silicone thimble and a new Shark brand vacuum that boasts cutting long hairs and threads has been a game changer for my sewing space. The new vacuum will be my 'tidy up'. 🧵🌴🪡
A quilt with 2 of those cats facing each other, a pumpkin between them, and a combination of the star blocks over top of the cats would look absolutely precious 😍
Enjoyed your pictures very much. Not being able to travel as once we did, it is nice to see events going on and enjoyed by others. You may take me along with you anytime. All of us that are quilters spend time doing other things than just quilting. I enjoy traveling with my daughters. Thank God for my children that take time to include me in their lives. All have a happy day, stay warm and safe this weekend.
Pat, I don’t know how you get so many things done. You are the perfect example of the saying, ‘If you want something done, ask a busy person’. Love watching the Sloan Zone!!
Thank you so much Pat for showing your town it is beautiful and I totally love watching your tutorial on how you put the quilt together and all the things that you share I totally enjoy you❣️✂️🪡🧵💕💗💓
I remember my grandma buying coffee in those jars. The plastic seal of the lid kept the coffee smell. I have my grandma’s buttons. They were also cut off clothing. Some are so old - almost 100 years - that the plastic is deteriorating. I cut buttons off clothing before I throw it away or cut it up for other uses. I use thread to tie the buttons from a garment together so that I have a set if I need several like buttons for a project. Sometimes I buy garments with unique buttons at rummage sales or thrift shop outlets. The buttons are worth more than the garments.
Please take me along with you anytime. I’m not able to go to far anymore and really enjoy seeing different events. Thank you so much for all you do .😊❤
Loved seeing what’s near you. It’s so different to here in England. We’re so small. My son flew to Edinburgh in Scotland. About 400 mile by road from us in Coventry. He realised just how small we are. Thanks for this and all that you do😀
Thank you for the pictures! I lived south of that area in the early 70's when my husband was stationed at Quantico. First duty station and boy what a cultural shock for me as I come from rural Washington state! I love that cat!
Pat Sloan, a lady bug in your house is a sign of good luck. Last Friday I was having a bad day. Everything was going wrong. Suddenly there was a lady bug on my counter. I don’t know where she came from but I realized that everything will be okay. So I went shopping and felt much better!
Wow! That area has really grown! We biked along the trail in the 90’s when we were much younger! 50 miles a day! We stayed in Fairfax the half way point.
I do love the community pictures you shared today! I would love to see more. I live just a few miles south of Tysons Corner and still love your beautiful photography. Thanks also for nudging me to clean up my quilting space.
Loved your pictures. We live in a neighbor too and down the street a bit they are building highrise apartments with places for shops. This is a new landscape for us.
Thanks for sharing your around the town photos. It’s been over 20 years since I visited that area. The Lantern festival is beautiful. Have never seen anything like it.
Hi Pat! The night shots of the lanterns are wonderful 💗💗 I taught my now 14 yr old granddaughter to crochet some time back. This year for Christmas she got from her mom & dad (my son) more yarn & pattern book (maybe books-she didn't say). She's been making little jellyfish that look just like your picture!! Soft chenille yarn & the little bodies are stuffed with fiberfill. They are just so cute!
I want to thank you for making the effort to look nice for us. It is an effort for all of us to fix our hair put on her make up and some jewelry or a scarf, and it shows respect to other people. It makes me feel special that you did that for me and the rest of your Viewers. So many TH-camrs show up in their pajamas or too tight sloppy sweatshirt, and they don’t even look like they brush their hair half the time or tidy their space Where they film. I’m sorry for being critical, and I don’t mean to be judgmental but, when you put yourself in front of a camera, you’re opening yourself for criticism. I want to thank you for showing respect to your audience.
I just loved your pictures. Each city and town are so different in what they celebrate and it's nice to see the differences and the similarities. I am going to make the cat in orange and frame it.
Yes,I just inherited an entire TUB of buttons, still on their card backs. It is fun to see what they used to cost from stores that have long since gone out of business. Memories.
I have some of my Grandma’s and my Mom’s. Then my sister gave me some of hers! I bought some kid’s character buttons, like ballerinas, cats, dogs, etc. My 6 year old granddaughter likes to sort through them on my cutting table, then asks me if she can borrow’ some and promises to give them back.
@Pat Sloan Thank you for sharing the photos of your excursion with Greg. The pics of the Chinese Lantern Festival are gorgeous! Posting on the Community tab is a perfect idea. Take care, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
I enjoyed you sharing your adventures. It reminds people you have a life outside of entertaining us. It also has I know your interest outside of quilting.
I LOVE the cat! She’s quite regal! I’m sure that she and the Duchess must be friends! Paisleys are fabulous. They’re timeless. They remind me of my teens, and my dad wore a 4” wide purple paisley tie at my parents wedding in 1946. ❤️
The button jar, looks like a Koeze Nuts jar. The company has been around since 1910, so your mother-in-law's jars could possibly be from that company. I had several of the jars because my children sold the nuts as a school fundraiser in the 1980's. The company is still around and they sell wonderful nuts and nut products. Yes, indeed beautiful storage for all the little things that accumulate in our sewing space.
Pat you have to know I love your process for doing the quilted witch, love the background and your star’s amazing. I’m as a rule not a city people, but your photos you shared with the Chinese Christmas displays all of them were so beautiful. We could all add some Love to our cities. Thank you so much for sharing. 👍❤️😊
Love the photos. Had no idea there was so much to see in your area. I lived in Virginia Beach way back in 1965 for about three months. I got to go to Williamsburg then, but I would love to see how things have changed. My son was stationed there about 30 years ago and I was amazed at how much just the area I was familiar with had changed at that time. Keep sharing those photos. Thanks so much for being part of my mornings.
What a sweet kitty! It would make a cute wall hanging! I'm not sewing this pattern, but you are always showing me that I really should be sewing all the things! I loved the tour of your area. I'm enjoying the community tab, too. Thank you, Pat, for sharing your life with us! Now to go finish cutting out another quilt sample! 😊😊
I enjoyed seeing all your pictures in your video today. We have the Chinese Lanterns here in Cary, NC too. They are beautiful. They are here from Nov thru Jan each year. I also agree with you about See's Candies! There should be one in every town. :)
I am watching the video at 8:56cst I love your videos and have been following on my other TH-cam channel AllAmericanStamping❤️ i really appreciate all that you do 😊 thank you for sharing! I spent two years in the Army in Kitzingen, Germany - loved my time there. Also not sure why it’s not showing my name, Donna Ferguson ❤
Love that you are talking about the weather..... it is -43 here today. I'd take your sunny day today. Even your rainy day yesterday! Love your witch/garden quilt.
So nice to see up to date pictures of my old stomping ground. I understand that the traffic has grown as much as the Reston Town Center and Tyson’s. Looking forward to a visit in April. I haven’t been back for a few years which makes me sad. I am a Virginian first and foremost. I just happen to reside in FL.
Great pics of where you live. It’s nice to see a more positive beauty. The Chinese soldiers remind me of those carvings of the Chinese soldiers that were unburied awhile back.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of your trip around your town. I love the colorful displays so pretty. I enjoy seeing where people live and things of interest in their area. We went to Virginia Beach on our honeymoon but never saw much of interest to stop and investigate. I would love to go back and explore, thank you again.
Thank you Pat for sharing your pictures. Love the Chinese lanterns, so very beautiful! And it’s also nice to see some of your city. Enjoying your Witches Garden, the cat is my favorite too! Have a wonderful day!
I love to see photos from places I haven't been. I love to travel, so it gives me ideas of where I want to go. These were beautiful pictures, thank you.

I have my Grandfather's funeral flag in a triangle shadow box frame. I filled a triangle frame with my Grandmother's buttons to sit beside it.
Wouldn’t a chickenless chicken salad be….egg salad? 😂 Thanks for all of the wonderful videos Pat! You make my morning….
Thank you so much Pat for showing your town it is beautiful and I totally love watching your tutorial on how you put the quilt together and all the things that you share I totally enjoy you❣️✂️🪡🧵💕💗💓

I love the Cat! That would make a fabulous bed runner. ❤

Thank you for watching! that would have been a bit of a change for you, but it's nothing like being closer into the city. That is where i am
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your town. I enjoyed seeing them. That cat block with the paisley is too cute!

No ladybugs flying around in Nebraska. It's 9 degrees and we are supposed to get 4-7" of snow ontop of the 6" we got on Monday.
