Mark, as you drove by it at the beginning of the video, you casually mentioned Kirk Quinn's airbnb, "Quinntessential airbnb", located at tunnel 10 at the Loop. I'm sure hoping that you will plan a visit there, as it too, is a fantastic place to stay and watch trains, at a much closer view than the Cable airbnb. Clean, affordable, with a great patio to BBQ after a long day of chasing trains. Kirk is a great guy; always welcoming, and fun to talk to. Highly recommended!
I actually ran into Kirk a couple of weeks ago, and we will be doing something there, probably in the fall when it cools off. We're also planning one at the newest up there. It's in a UP caboose!
Great video, I''m planning a pligrimage to Tehachapi this summer. Thanks for the video and I'll be making reservations when we finally get a date nailed down!
My wife and I spent a Night at Old B&B in Washington, MO, on Dbl UP Track Mainline between STL and KC. NO Sleep that Night because RX had Not gone Quiet yet. 😬👍
I hadn't realized it's been a while since I've been to the Loop, noted a few changes. Then as you drove over to the B&T's. You went by or near about 5 or 6 people I know, 3 in my model train club, one in the TLRC and one from my wife's Flower Club and another, son and daughter in law to a Club's member. Cool video, Thanks.
Small world. I too like supercross and photograph trains 👍🏻 I’ve actually designed some of the ama monster energy supercross tracks the last couple of years.
Can't hear the horn with the door closed--ok. What about the flange/wheel squeel? BAB&B's (Before Air Bed and Brekfasts) several of us arrived at our chosen spot for camping overnight near the AT&SF in Arizona. It was already dark, very dark, as we pitched two tents and unrolled sleeping bags We had just settled down for "a long winter's nap, when what to resoumd in our ears all around," were the unmistakeable sound of 567 diesel engines in run 8 dragging a Westbound uphill about 75 feet away. My friend (who's wife was already in the tent) said, "I wish that had not happened yet." Somehow the growl of 567' is sleep inducing.
I had a lot of family that lived up there so we went there a lot in the 70s and 80s. What happened to the big HO scale train set that used to be at a restaurant up there modeled after the Tehachapi Loop ?
Also, do you know any places up there to stay that are kid friendly? I noticed the one you're at in the video is only for two people and the other guy with the caboose more down the hill same deal ?
Don't forget about Kirk Quinn's place (Quinn'tessential airbnb) at Burton's Curve, right next to tunnel 10. Much closer access to trains and great accommodations!
Thanks again for all your videos. I stayed at the Butter’s Bed and Trains for two nights in 2022. Really enjoyed it. Want to go back but it hasn’t worked out!
Yes. Spaceship two. It crashed about 100 yards south of Redrock Randsburg road and a mile or so east of 14. We actually drove past the crash site on our way to visit friends in Trona about an hour before they closed the road. It was dark so the site was lit up. We thought maybe they were filming a movie or a commercial, which is very common out there. We didn't know about the crash until our friends told us about it.
Firstly; much thanks for your always interesting presentations. It's kinddov weird for us out-of-town internationals [ 🇿🇦 ] to learn that TEHACHAPI does not remain as a romantic; completely remote; almost inaccesible region that has only one freeway runnin' through it .... With the region being frequented only by us pioneering; hardcore; bush-wacking Train-Freaks .... Motels; Golf-Courses; Residential developments; etc ! 🤔😳 .... 😄🤙✊️👊💫💥🚆
Tehachapi Train Cams are Amazing! Thanks! 👍

You sold me on it. Good stuff!
Thanks Mark.
Thanks for this. I'm a potential occupant for a middle of the week stay. I'll use my online to find it.
This video has made me even more determined to go to California, especially to Tehachiapi
Make it a bucket lister!

Just remembered, another that has property but hasn't built his house yet. Four of the before mentioned all have similar views.
Small world!
It would be nice if they put a camera to cover tunnels 14 to 17
As they said, they're working on it.

What a cool part of the industry in which to be involved! Thanks for checking it out!
nice little B&B good view and all, but to be truthful I'd rather have a little RV down in the trees.

Are they the same people on youtube that use a drone a couple of years ago
I know they have used theirs a few times for checking out the area, but I can't say if they did the one you're referring to.

The Loop model at the Mountain Crossing Restaurant is in storage by the model train club up there.
Comparable to watching paint dry!
Then I guess this place wouldn't be for you.

Mark the next time you go you should actually see if the 30 trains a day stands true altho that may require a lack of sleep lol.
I used the live cam to count the trains while we were gone or sleeping
@@MarkClayMcGowan ah ok

Mark is it okay if I post some of your videos on my Facebook page. I'm a retired conductor who have a lot of former buddies on my page.
Absolutely! I appreciate it!
I have an idea find where that crash happened near Cantil in 2014 of a rest flight
huh?
@@MarkClayMcGowan there was a plane crash I saw on national Geographic that took place near Cantil. It was a test flight
The plane basically exploded
