Richmond is one of the most underrated cities in America 🇺🇸 the pros definitely out way the cons being from dc it like a second and there are parts of Richmond that remind me of dc its not to fast like the north but its definitely not as slow as the south its right in the middle i love RVA ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤THE ROW HOUSES IN DOWN TOWN remind me so much of being up north extremely diverse just a great ciry .
I am from Miami and this city is terrible I was born and raise here. The cost of living is extremely high, jobs don’t offer you any bonuses and no raises. This is only if you have an LLC business, if you are CEO of a company , or your own sugar daddy that takes care of you, etc. Car insurances are extremely high and traffic keeps getting worse when your job is a 30 minute drive and it takes 2 hours to get there. People are disrespectful in public transportation which is not a surprise. Plus it will keep getting worse by the year. I am applying at Richmond as I have a mutual friend who is helping me with this transition and I want to start a new life else where. Miami is all about tourism, beaches and if you want to get a ticket at South Beach for shitty behavior. So I am eager to find new hope and thank you for this video, very informative.
First off, this was a great and very informative video, my friend. I really wanted to move there and still do more-so then ever. Seriously. Awesome-Awesome, place. It seems and one of my idols lived out there. So, I want my child to brew the same level of creativity that he did. Hmm..Sad, I can't be there now, but one-day. Hopefully.
I went to school and lived in Richmond for 10 years and it has changed in some parts for the better and worse. Broad Street has undergone a dramatic transformation and I live the development. The biggest issue I had is the gentrification of Jackson Ward and the stark contrast of have and have-nots that still exist. Also if you are over the age of 35, options for nightlife are very limited. The "bottom" has also gone downhill in terms of nightlife options.
Virginia Commonwealth University is one of the best medical schools. Also J Sergeant Amery olds college right next to each other and J Sergeant credits transferrable to VCU!!!
Wow -- while I miss Richmond, VA terrible -- I left a little over a year ago -- you missed a lot of cons. Many I know cannot afford the rising rents (mine went up 20% in 2022 one of the reasons I left). There is massive crimes COVID highlighted this with the (illegal) tearing down of statues of Monument Avenue. Wages have stagnated almost as thought business are remembered the late '90s when labor was cheap because the cost of living there was cheap. The hardcore struggle between the left and the right. The gentrification in places like Scott's Addition and Church Hill pushing out long term residents (the East End is starting to to the same thing). But UGH it is still home to me and I want to come back and plan to August of 2024. Thank you for listening to this homesick person!
Isn't Virginia known for extreme humidity? I'm from New York and the last few years has it feeling like your inside an oven during the summers. The humidity has been brutal.
I think they call the airport Richmond international because they do fly private jets from the airport. I assume they can fly international from the private jet section....
No that's nit the reason. It's call international cause a number of reasons. 1 is cause they have a runway that can handle international flights, and large aircrafts. 2. They do have a Customs facility for international flights. 3. They had international flights till a few years ago. They have been doing remodeling to customs, they plan on reopening sometime this year. 4. Richmond has tons of cargo that come and land at the airport.
The statues of people who fought against their country and wanted slavery? Or were there some statues of some really cool people in history that they took down?
Its a shame that all the history is gone (all the statues) because of 1 man going to prison 8 time and putting a gun to a pregnant women but no one says anything about that VERY SAD but the City politicians need the votes
Lived in Richmond all my life…love it, home to me 😊
@@wheezy59 you need to get out more
Relocating to the area in the near future. Thank you for the very well done overview, sir!
Chris, What a wonderful video that convinced me to move to Richmond.

Con shopping is not good the surrounding areas need more options and attractions.

I learned later that RIC can accommodate international airplanes if they ever have it in the future.
Thanks for your input 😊

The restaurant tax is INSANE! And if you have allergies, RUUUUUNNNN as far away from here as possible.
No statues no character
See you in April of 2025!!! 😍
Subtropica like Alabama and Florida
No sidewalks no Street lightings for the most part... Ditches and standing water for mosquitoes everywhere
different
Richmond Virginia has nothing to do, and driving is horrible here. Crime is everyday,
It’s very average when it comes to crime and if you think driving here is horrible you haven’t been to many places in America.
Over 40 years maybe back in the 80s... Now it just sucks
Yeah 3 1/2 to 4 months of 95 feels like 120 high humidity no f****** breeze
Allergy mold pollen capital of the country... Also tattoo capital
nope
It's lost some of its charm with the influx of weirdos
I lived in Richmond moved after the woke took over and pulled down statues that were there for 150 years
The statues of people who fought against their country and wanted slavery? Or were there some statues of some really cool people in history that they took down?
@@anthonygunther The use of the term "woke" says what he really means.
This makes me wanna move there even more.
I know what you mean. The woke mind virus has infected parts of RVA
Good riddance

Yall still talking about George Floyd 3 yrs later white people are obsessed. The statues aren’t coming back FUCK then racist generals
It's a disgrace.
