    I saw that you wore eye safety but didn't see a safety mask. If you didn't use one, please use it whenever you cut fiberglass in the future. It's dangerous to breathe in glass dust particles.

    I'd suggest wrapping the top of the tail lights instead of replacing them with entirely new ones. It can save you a lot of money and still look pretty clean. as long as you don't use gold foil lol

    Here's a thought on the exhaust tips -- have your welding jedi make tips that fill in the bumper cavity shape where each pipe sits with a 1/2 in gap around. That would really integrate the look of the rear bumper.

    hello and greetings from sweden!
    now, i dont know if anyone has commented on this before, but i just realised something about your exhaust...
    the two exhaust pieces (from the turbos and out the back) are welded together in the center. this may maybe cause them to "break and bend" when hot and cause stress on the turbos, V bands, exhaust manifolds etc.
    maybe if they had a more "loose" fit, you would have less future issues?
    just a thought...
    good luck and best wiches!

  • @dallas9795
    @dallas9795 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You should have just ran the exhaust in an X Style. the left turbo exhaust exiting on the right and the right turbo exhaust exiting on the left. That could have saved you a lot of room. Also a lot less bending and Welding to. You may want to look into it

    Just a couple of suggestions for rear bumper. Have grill made for opening you just cut out. Add some screw tabs to back side of grill so it can be attached from back side and it will help hide the cut out edged if fit properly. Also it will cost a little but have some exhaust tips fabricated to closely fit rectangular cutouts in bumper and have them coated the same As your " baller pipes." I think this would give it very finished look instead of the round peg in a square hole look. Keep up the good work. Love the build.

    • @ocp1669
      @ocp1669 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's ceramic coated which will cut down on the radiant heat. I am pretty sure he wants that look so wrapping them would be a no.
      Personally I would run it a bit check the surrounding areas to check for melting or singeing, if nothing then run a little longer then check. At each point just up the temps in the area. A dyno run would be a good test.
      If there is any melting or singeing I am pretty sure he would just cut away at the bumper or find a way to extend it out a little more than usual, That or wrap the backside of the bumper in gold foil way before he would consider wrapping the pipes.

    New bumper looks great! Good work! Also: IMO, leave the pre-facelift headlights and tail lights on the car. Not only will it be cheaper, it'll also be a little more true to the origins of the car as an early-year Gallardo, and will make the car look more unique than just having it be a straight LP560 clone.

    Word of advice, specially if this is hand laid fiberglass, fully install the bumper, don't paint it for a while, let it be exposed to the heat, elements and driving.
    Hand laid fiberglass when exposed to heat, will start bubbling any air trapped inside that hasn't gassed out through the paint, it will show through any distortions, stress cracks ect...
    Put it through some use so so you can have any issues adressed before painting. This way you don't have to get it redone later.
    I would also coat the back of the bumper with a solid coat of rubberized sealer to keep a moisture barrier.

      Yeah seriously previous owner doubles the hp then remove the active spoiler. On a car that might actually benefit from it's downforce. Removed the active one tested on a wind tunnel and engineered by the car designers. Replace with one that has a certain look. Then if it makes it safer and more stable well that's a nice bonus I guess haha.

    When you had the car on the Dyno that baller pipe was shaking around quite a lot, go back and watch the video. You need to be sure that the bumper has enough clearance from the pipe so that it doesn't get damaged. Also I have seen some videos where a clear tinted film was applied to tail lights and it looked amazing, maybe that is something you could try before spending 6k on new lights. Like everyone else here I am loving this series and cant wait to see the finished car, or the next project come to think of it. Keep up the good work mate.

    I think it would be an awesome mod to have multiple center exhaust outlets, like a Corvette or 458 Italia or rectangular like McLaren, through that new cutout. Then mesh the outer openings. That could also help with heat issues, expelling the gases that little bit more directly.

    Careful about exhaust heat and the plastic bumper.
    I'd also try to find a grille the same shape as the top grille and install it on the bottom openings you've made.
    Also widen the exhaust openings. Your current exhaust tips, are going to melt that plastic.

    I agree with the other posters that fiberglass bumper is going to go up in flames. Have your welding buddy re do them. Another tip your going to have a real nice looking car when it gets out of the body shop do not put that cheesy strip around the area where you just cut have the body shop flatten out the ridges so you don't need that strip.

  • @poppajules
    @poppajules 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm afraid of the integrity of your lower diffuser without the section in the middle. Obviously it is too late, but I would have recommended two rectangles on each side and leaving the center section where the plate will be. For the future, I would recommend putting a plate to hold that diffuser up and the plate on. I have a feeling that further down the road you will see stress cracks in that center section where the angled lines come down.
    With that being said, I love the build, I have been following it from the beginning, and I am excited to see it on the dyno for real numbers soon!

    5000 dollars for a tail lights? boahhh that is fuckin expensive. do you really need the OEM taillights? I am pretty much sure there are moulding companies who can make custom taillights according to your preferences or closer to OEM looks and it doesn't cost you a ton of money. honestly 5000 dollar for taillights is just ridiculous.

    Not positive it would have been the right choice, but it would have been nice to try a smaller cut that allows that Baller Pipe to just peek out through that bumper panel before going whole hog. Anyway, looking decent-drop the edge trim. Finish it like a pro.
