    Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! I basically take 10 mins to tell you that all you need to do is copy the existing layout. You could redo all the pots and the entire guitar this way. 1 wire at a time, from old part to new part. Do that enough times and you work out what everything actually does, pretty quickly. TIP OF THE DAY: If a wire keeps jumping away from you, use your solder wire to hold it down, then take a swipe at the wire above the joint and it's released.

      Hey awesome video. Can you help me figure out where to buy the actual wire? I never know which one to get. But the color coded ones would be SO awesome. Scared to work on my Les Paul, paid someone $200 and they didn't do it right. But you really inspired me to finish

      Thanks so much for the video dude! I recently bought a 2020 Custom Epiphone Les Paul in Ebony. Pride and joy especially after changing tuning buttons to skulls and the speed-knobs to the classic gold ones. Unfortunately, my girlfriend fell and hit her head on one of the tone knobs and completely messed the potentiometer up! I was horrified. Never changed a pot before and felt I had to take it to a guitar shop until I saw your video! Then I ordered a new pot on Amazon and a soldering iron and away I went! Just finished the job and it's perfect! You are a legend dude!

    Hi, I have a Squier Strat and my strumming hand keeps knocking the volume. Can I assign the tone of all pickups to back tone knob, move the volume pot to the middle hole and leave the front hole open?

    I bought a used 2012 epiphone sg400 pro 66 Pelham Blue 150$ American & yanked out a stem from the pot which is attached to a small circuit board & Im self taught too and when the new pot arrives I will have to do like you did is connect the dots and copy the existing layout

    This is very helpful. l only needed one 250k pot but l bought 3, because l have multiple Strats. These 3 Fender pots have no instructions, and each has a dark red [diode, resistor?] in the bag which l have no idea what to do with, if anything. Any idears?

    Just got a guitar set up after installing a new pickup on my bridge. I want to change my guitar pot to a 500k pot. Would I need to redo a full guitar set up after getting the pot replaced?

    Caution: If you change your pots, keep the old ones. It will greatly affect the 'collectable' value of your guitar in the future.

    • @EnterJustice
      @EnterJustice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is if your guitar appreciates in value, which it probably won't. For that you need low supply (i.e. nothing mass produced OR it's a specific instrument famous for some reason) AND high demand (the guitar has a specific sound or look that will become very popular in the future, you become a legendary musician and that guitar becomes your signature). But yeah, probably best to keep all the original hardware and electronics just in case.

    No diagram , his hands and his talking is all there is. Skip It... This is no help to a fellow who does NOT know what to do. Get a diagram and copy it to see what wire is soldered to what... Learn to solder and do not use old solder or a dirty solder pen... make sure your soldering iron is melting the solder well and that you do NOT handle the soldered connection until it has set...
