I have a cracked triple tree on my 73’ CL350. I’m planning on replacing it with a new one. Is it as easy as removing the steering stem nut, and replacing the triple tree? Anything else you would recommend to look out for on a bike that is already running and driving? Thanks for all the videos!
Yeah. That’s simple. If you’re just taking the top off. Forks can be stubborn on the bottom. There are probably cheap used ones on eBay. CMC sells new ones. Don’t forget the D washers in those two clamps on the upper tree...in the gap between where the bolts go. It’ll crack without those.
Brian Matson that is where the saying comes from, the same design as the Tyburn Tree Gallows in the UK. The US 1% MC adopted that at some point just for that reason, hanging people and it stuck. Otherwise the correct name is a yoke or a triple clamp, depending if your in Europe or the US. 👍🏻👍🏻
Your channel is amazing. Thanks for all the helpful videos.
My pleasure, man. Glad you found the channel.
These videos are so helpful for me - as I’m reassembling my CB550 - this reminds me where everything goes :) cheers
Fantastic to hear!
Those stops must be a weak spot, both were broken on my 1972 CB350.
I did a similar repair although I have not uploaded the video yet!
They break because people forget to install the D washer/spaces. Without them…it goes crack!
Dude, you sound just like Jack Black!
Thank u
You’re welcome!

Great to hear!
What did bottom of triple tree look like? Parts that went on over bearings? Thx
The lower races are stuck into the vertical bar. Check cmsnl.com for a good exploded view of that section. That site is invaluable.
Triple Tree Gallows!
Not that dark.

Oh! I love me some history. I’ve always heard it referred to as a triple tree in the US.
