Thank GOD no one was hurt, and the damage could have been a lot worse. I'm sure Billy is really going to like that new motor! Nice repair, up and running and back on the water!
I think a matte black stripe down the back would hide the damage really well and look awesome. Great work on the repair Matt. Boat doctor added to the resumé.
That's a shame. Glad everyone is ok. The damage to the boat definitely could have been worse. It could have been all the way into the bed of the truck. Great job getting him back on the water again as fast as you did.
Always a good idea to contact your insurance company on your boat, fishing equipment and how it’s stored. It might cost a few bucks on the front end but save you on the long run. Met a fisherman a few weeks back with a total electric boat. He told me a story about a miss hap to a friends all electric bass boat. Bottom line you can guess who came out on the short end of the stick on that deal.
Wow I really hope the insurance company comes thru, they arent your friends at all when it comes to claims, I find they always want to nickel and dime you or find a way to weasel out. There was a recall on oir dodge journey and we didnt get any notification. My wife got in a car wreck due to the exact thing the recall was on. A week or so after the accident Chrysler calls and says there is a recall and wanted to know if would bring the vehicle in as a few notices had already been sent out apparently. I said well they werent sent to us but what was the recall about, they told me and I was really upset. But because they wouldnt own up to the phone call with my insurance company, even though i had proof they called and the recall was on file my wife still has the accident on her record. Its ridiculous. And the insurance company wouldnt even investigate Chrysler and who called even though i had the womans name, date and time she called as well as the phone records and phone number. Trust me they arent your friends or there for you. They want your money, but when they have to pay they drag their feet to the bitter end. Its insane. Glad the Creature is getting fixed up, I know you'll do right by him Matt; you always do the best work. Cant wait to see it up and running again. Perhaps put a blacked out hand reaching up for the motor to hide what u cant fix, it'll also make it look gruesome which would be an added bonus. Just an idea if all doesnt pan out the way u want. U got this though Matt, we all believe in u bro.
its important that if you are not running a run of the mill boat, you contact your insurance company and insure your boat for "agreed upon value". You pay for what you value it at. Otherwise insurance companies will always try and scam you. i am building a car right now thats gunna be 60-70k all in while the blue book value on the make and model is like 3 grand
@@TRICKEDTINS I understand. I never even thought I’d have a boat. I bought a 1970’s 14’ from a friend for $150 and replaced the transom board then fixed a ton of leaks and rivets. I got a mid 1970’s 4HP 2 stroke from a former co worker for $250 and replaced a couple wires, gaskets, and the diaphram in the fuel pump, and it fired right up. Couple all that with the $75 rusty boat trailer that I had to tow home with my other trailer and sandblast/paint and replace some brackets and straighten the axle, and that’s my setup. It took about 4 years off and on to find the remaining motivation to complete the project but it’s been a blast. I’ve gotten into fishing and having a boat opens up a whole new world. Sometimes we just look on google maps then ride down the creeks and rivers here and see what cool stuff we can find off the beaten path. I do like this boat a lot. I plan to buy foam like you used and do my seats because the bare aluminum seats are a little tough on the backside after sitting all day. I enjoy watching your builds, even though half the time I’m lost. It’s interesting watching the things you do with these smaller boats and how much more capable you make them
That makes no sense since a fiberglass boat is actually considerably stronger than an aluminum one. At least a quality one. my 1989 Hydrasport Vector 22 has a thick layer of Kevlar along with the normal Fiberglass layers and it still has the original transom and has ZERO movement! One can cut right through an aluminum boat using a single saws-all blade whereas on a. fiberglass boat a single blade will last you all of 5 minutes if you're lucky before it's almost completely bald.
I had a old hydrasport cc those hulls are super strong. Not even close of a comparison to a new bass boat tho. A single blow with a hammer will rip right through a new fiberglass nitro or ranger.

Quick and efficient!
Wow that sucks. I have a tohatsu 9.8 with electric start and I love it. You are right they are quite

Unfortunate happenings! Luckily he knows someone :) ....... Be Safe

Definitely
NOOO NOT THE CREATURE 😭
I know man it was definitely disappointing but it all worked out!
They are heavy as hell. I went with a Tohatsu 60 which weighs the same as the Merc 40hp.
Not sure on that one. The merc is made by tohatsu? Idk?
That’s for everything below 60hp. The 40hp merc is about 234 lbs before the tiller. The Tohatsu 60hp is 213 before the tiller.
You have quite an aura (Aurora Borealis) about you. :)
That sucks but atleast the boat is still able to be fished out of
He made out on this deal.
Yo I did not know u were in Virginia me too would u be able to do some float pods for me
Possibly they are tricky

His coverage was for 20k. Insurance companies will pay, but you just have to play their game.
My whole boat setup isn’t even worth $3,000 😅
We all start somewhere. My first boat was a 8' plastic bass raider.

This is why when you buy a boat you buy an aluminum boat. That way you can still go fishing. Fiberglass would have been a different story.

I agree, but then again Im a welder.
