My biggest tip that’s saving money is prioritize!! We found our dream venue that was more expensive than we wanted, but to make up for it, we’re not hiring a videographer or florist, bc I can do my own flowers and I don’t prioritize fancy flowers or a fancy video. Photo is getting more of my budget.
Jamie gives the best advice! My wedding is in 5 weeks and I have been watching all her videos since I got engaged. I found Etsy to be a good go between for DIY vs a vendor. I didn’t want to spend too much on florals and I found a person on Etsy that did amazing florals for so much cheaper than a florist!
I've been watching your videos for years and years and YEARS!! Since university! And I finally get to put your advice into practise because I got engaged 2 weeks ago!! 💍 I've had years of training already 💪🏼😎
Yes! My wedding is 4 weeks away and the one tip she mentioned that I wish I did was more research! I definitely went with the first photographer I found and months later had friends say you could have went with this person or that person for way cheaper. But, we will see how these pictures turn out before I call it a regret 🤞🏾
I'm not a particularly romantic person, but I am extremely pragmatic--I got engaged just last weekend and am looking forward to four years of planning, and ever since I discovered your channel a few months back, I have had to bookmarked to go back to because you explain things simply and humorously! This video especially is going into my list
Planning a 40th anniversary celebration, not a wedding, but many similiarities. What has pushed us over our head count is not understanding our local area's dynamics when it comes to social gatherings. Namely, even if we put the two adult's names on an invitation, it is "understood" that all household members are invited!
BEST WEDDING TIPS IN THE WHOLE INTERNET!!! ❤❤. Thank you dear Jamie, I'm not planning a wedding but here I am preparing ahead and learning with you. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. This vid will also go to my playlist ❤❤. Blessings for you and your family and greetings from Venezuela ❤
Thank you so much for these tips. I just started the wedding planning and I also thought hey you know your venue quote maybe you should start that budgeting right now. Haha
I put off watching this video because money makes me very uncomfortable - but that needs to change quickly (I've been working on it a while but still not great) - and expected to feel called out, but instead it was good to listen to right now. Despite being engaged for year, my partner and I are just making head way on wedding planning now - we picked a venue over the weekend and I'm getting excited but overwhelmed at it all.
Sat down and looked at what’s owing and when it’s due by today and had a slight panic! I think we’re close to being on budget and this video helped calm me down (going to do a full cost breakdown and see where we’re at).
I love your videos and your bubbly straight-talking personality. My budget is as cheap as possible without being terrible. My priorities are to be surroounded by our loved ones and have a nice time. (Music and food)
@@Sky-Child30 years from now you will want at least one wedding photo. It doesn't need to be professional. Hire a teen, hand them a camera, tell them to take a photo of every group or table. Capture the memories.
Is there a way to be honest with vendors and avoid the wedding unchange? I've heard so vendors charge more for weddings because most brides expect perfection, but I don't care about much. As long as I get to go home with my man, and it's adequate, it's fine. I haven't even started planning and the whole thing is overwhelming, but I promised my family that if I ever got married again, that I'd have some sort of wedding. I didn't 20 yrs ago and broke my family's heart. My dad cried and he didn't even like my x husband. I know I'm off to a better start since my family loves my fiancé. Is there a good way to find out what things cost in your area so you can start with a realistic budget? Like you just mentioned good photographers charge more than $500. Makes sense since it's days of work and a ton of equipment, but I had no idea. I'm hoping to find a full service location, but I have a feeling it's out of my budget.
Perspective from a vendor: I would just be honest and transparent with your budget and expectations when communicating with vendors. My pricing for event rentals varies for weddings only due to the usual need to build in idle time/more specific package items that a wedding would need more than a corporate event for example. It’s not more $ just cuz its a wedding, but more so (in my case atleast) that the wedding is a more significant event with a more structured timeline and specific needs which changes the amount of the time and package inclusions provided by the vendor.
My recommendation is to first figure out what your wedding budget is & what your head count is. Those 2 factors will make the decision process much easier because it will eliminate locations, catering, photography that don't fit your needs. After you determine those 2 factors, then you can begin researching where to have it & how much you want to spend on the location, catering, etc. Check online for vendors in your area & ask for pricing. Ask around on Facebook, & other social media platforms for vendors & recommendations. Hope this info helps! Best wishes on your wedding!
As a bride on a budget, I found fb groups local to my location to be a LIFESAVER. It saved me time because I was able to post that I was looking for vendors within my budget. We found people within our budget who we like-even photographers and day of coordinators who were offering sales since we posted our search in December and January. So highly recommended that
