Yes, from six torpedoes at once. That need over a minute to reload. Also you are informed waaay before that you are being taken as a target. And you can just negate any tracking with click of one button. And even without it you can outmaneuver them even with a BB. Subs are not OP, they are a gimmic, a torpedo focused DD is far more useful than these, and can easily counter any sub.
you have to admire weegee's ability to take a large square peg, take 3 years to poorly hammer it into a tiny round hole then tell us that its a perfect fit and its so perfect they cant be bothered working on it anymore. this and cv rework has made my entire clan quit and those guys were good and loved the game!
Not only did you show a destroyer getting shotgunned by a submarine being used as the example for "ships are hard to ping." You used a clip of a sub hitting 4 torps and almost deleting a roon from full health as "minimal damage"... Balance at its finest. Also, I would love to see the historical accuracy of a WW2 sub going 28 knots surfaced, let alone submerged.
I see you're not complaining of the historical inaccuracy of the WG subs only have couple of minutes submerged at a time - but I suppose that doesn't support your narrative of them being OP

@@johnmanley7859 i don't recall wolfpacks having issues engaging during WWII....Not to mention that here they use speed to retreat, not enter a fight...Most of them stay at the rear and only advance when everyone else has.
Ah yes, I love being pinged seconds after using the damage control consumable and not being able to do anything about 5-8 homing torpedoes coming my way.
I guess you also love being conveniently ignorant because homing torps stop homing a few km from the ship so you could still turn. Also it's your own fault you wasted your damage control early. Really, it surprises me how everyone's bitching about submarines yet it feels like no-one even watched the damn video.
So you use a consumable to avoid torps, before it reloads you have been pinged again and more torps on their way. You can’t outrun the sub, it’s faster than you, you can’t see the sub or know it’s there, but it can see you. So op.
Have you played a sub yet? Try it and tell me how OP it is. If it's so OP, why don't you just switch to playing subs and pwn all the potato ships? Hm? We already both know the answer.

I started playing in 2015. Over time we´ve seen some ridiculous ships and concepts in Halloween modes and they were fun. But what we have now in form of submarines and carriers as permanent part of the game is partly even more ridiculous. And in the main modes it is game-breaking. I hope you are happy with your game WG, I am not.
Been playing since Alpha. Every time a sub kills me with no counterplay possible in my BB, I shut down the game and quit for a couple hours. A little longer each time. Maybe soon I will quit forever.
Yeah Yeah...before the battle starts pray that the sub won't come for you because otherwise you are F... If the sub attacks you you have to drop everything you do and focus on the sub because if you don't he will kill you. At least the CV doesn't have to bother itself with this. Well done ✅👍
I just want to take my Battleships to the Front row and brawl, but that's not possible anymore. German BBs now are even more useless than they were before
@@DeadBaron some of those have 5 Km range at tier IX. At that Range you basically can't dodge with a slow BB. Also Subs don't need to get as close as 5 km because they are invincible if they are farther away. Also also: You cant drop air deployed Depth charges directly on you, you need to drop them 1km ahead of you. That all is still assuming that you can even see the sub. So BBs have no choice but to snipe, and some of the BBs aren't cut out to snipe because they can't hit anything if they are farther than 15km away
people complain alot about subs and how they can rip apart lots of ships easily, but its still difficult to play them, and if you're good at the game you can easily counter them
only idits complain. i play subs and is fkin hard to kill one ship. i have like 50 matches and no kill. there is no advantage to play as subs. Even his ability to hide is limited.
Stupid implementation of the class is the main issue. A single direct hit would kill a submarine, it does not. A submarine at anything below periscope depth could not acquire a target yet now they can, their speed is simply out of kilter with their actual relative speed in game, it was feasible for BB’s to steam away from subs, indeed a recommended tactic, and DD’s had no issue catching them especially when submerged, hydro only detects them when close in as opposed to a decent distance as was the case. I can just about live with most of these for gameplay. The fact though that a submarine that has had a high calibre shell punch through its pressure hull can then simply dive denies any logic. They should be restricted to at most periscope depth for at least 30secs after a hit say from 203mm and above. Being caught on the surface was the death knell for a sub now it is at most a minor inconvenience.
it seems that WARGAMING totally forgot there are ships that don't have any anti-submarine warfare at all. For example, Japanese Hybrid BB ISE. The Sub literally torpedo me from full health to death when a brawling battle left only me and a submarine. The matching mechanism is broken as well. In a brawling battle, one team have CV, Hybrid BB, DD and Sub. On the other hand, only CL and BB. Guess which team won without a single ship lost?
Over the years I’ve played more than 23,000 battles. Now that subs have arrived, I’m seriously considering quitting the game. I never thought that would happen. Are used to love the game. Subs are 0P. The worst of it is the acoustic torpedoes. If a sub focuses on a baby, or even a cruiser, you can kiss your backside goodbye. There is no escaping acoustic torpedoes. Also, subs are to fish on the surface. They should not be able to keep up with surface chips. That is unrealistic. Now when there is a sub in the game, I have to spend a lot of time defensively, instead of playing my natural aggressive style. I hate that. There are other problems with the subs that are not quite so egregious but I won’t go into them now. I was present in the game when aircraft carriers arrived and the fire storm over subs vastly overshadows the resistance to aircraft carriers. Fix the subs or get rid of them.
I got nowhere NEAR the battles of you, but I have been playing since CBT - I used to be in love with this game through til around 2018, and I slowly played less and less. Now I barely touch the game and I have not spent 1 red cent since last Black Friday. Control is an AWESOME game! I sure Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus, and RDR2 all are as well, I am gonna work my way through those and then get more! WG wouldn't even allow me to transfer my WG account to Steam where all the BEST deals are, that pissed me off a long ways back.
Guess what? I don't want WG to remove subs or carriers. I want them to confidently rest on their laurels and prove to us how vital these classes are to their game design by doing one simple thing. This action probably doesn't require more than a hotfix's worth of code and therefore shouldn't take away from current development work in any big way. Here's the idea: Copy and paste random battles into a new battle type. Everything about randoms is carried over into this new game mode with one exception: carriers and submarines can't enter it. Call this mode "Surface Warfare" and test it, on the live clusters, for thirty days (or two patch cycles, whichever is shorter). Let the players decide - actually, this gives players a third choice beyond just "play" or "not play", the latter of which thousands of people seem to be doing already. Prove it. Prove how well implemented these classes are. Show the players through game experience.
Yeah right; because the only people playing that "all class" mode would be subs and CVs. Nobody with any sense would queue up for that trash in surface-locked ships. The MM would be broken with 4subs/4CVs for each match, and maybe some surface bots chucked in for them to farm. They know it wont work so it will never be an option. Nice thought though, I would certainly pay to unlock the "Surface Mode" on a month-to-month basis just to reduce the frustration factor of gaming.
4 stealth torps 50% HP gone in a T7 BB. Another set moments later I'm sitting on 10%. Because I'm spotted by a sub I can't see I'm taken out long-range by another BB. He must have been so disappointed that he didn't get the kill. The players make the game. Attract the wrong players you get what you get.
Imagine playing a destroyer and getting ‘outspotted’ by a submarine while his team kills your ship and you have no idea where he is. Imagine playing a cruiser with proximity depth charges, and getting ‘shotgunned’ to 0 by a unseen ship because it’s impossible to turn away in time. Imagine playing a battleship and firing easily dodgable depth charges while eating homing torps that are impossible to dodge or outrun, it’s not like you need your damage con for anything else right? Imagine the sub on your team is always a first class idiot who immediately dies while the enemy sub gets 4+ kills and just force wins the game on his own. Get these pieces of trash out of the game if you want to stop hemorrhaging players. 😊
That, OR buff the Destroyers! Make the Destroyers have strong resistance to Submarine's homing torpedoes. Along with a much shorter sonar ping timer. That way A Destroyer can eat up them subs easily! (Just mind the Sub's comrades in arms.)
@Dominque Doty what... ok I will repeat, a sub defeats a dd by outspotting him and not firing off a single ping. Spotted dds are summarily gunned down as their main protective mechanic is null and void. Buffing destroyers is not going to address that. Why do you think subs are banned in clan battles? Because they are inherently unfair... Devs don't want the fate of each clan battle to depend on one ship, apparently that's where they finally draw the line. The one logical action they've taken exposes their own awareness of the issue and unwillingness to address it.
@@slowbro- I only wanted to ensure DDs have a strong counter against the Subs... But you're very much correct in regard to the Spotting. A Sub that can keep a DD detected is a dead DD. Cruisers and other ships will AIM at the DD till it is all sunk. And that is a good teamplay of a Sub's scouting action. And I don't blame you on why subs are pretty much unfair. More so with Submarines playing Shotgun bull crap. I tried a Sub once. And I felt like a dirty cheater. Thou I played a different style. Fire one homing torp each 3 seconds. While also Pinging a Target. Since the torps are spaced out in the 3 secs. I was eventually torturing the target. Never again. I'll rather be a stealth DD with torps to land on BBs and cruisers.
Stfu. The bb depth charges are impossible to avoid. Every player guns for subs. And we have no HP. Destroyer players pretty much ran the game until subs showed up. Subs torpedoes aren't enough to destroy bbs or most cruisers in a single volly. You are just jealous that you can't run the game anymore.

@@GIUSEPPE2245 Well the submarine debacle is huge. I‘m gonna try to simplify the problem into a few short points. 1. They are stealthier than any other class, they can literally dive under any ship without being detected. Realistic, but bad for gameplay. 2. They tend to be faster, more maneuverable than destroyers and are still tankier. Which isn‘t a combination that should coexist in one vessel. You can be good at one, but terrible at the other two. But not be good at all of them. 3. The pinging mechanic stresses the damage control party. Tanking in a battleship involves using the damage con to counter the massive amount of HE spam. Now countering fires, floods, damaged equipment is already completely overwhelming the damage control. Having to counter the ping and also having to do it in a way, that if the torpedoes hits, the flood won‘t catch you with your pants down is hard when you‘re trying to deal with the entire rest of the game. 4. Shotgunning. Shotguns in video games tend to all be played the same way; hold it about half an arms length from the enemy‘s face and pull the trigger. Go any further away and they don‘t do any damage at all. Well going back to point 1 and 2. You can immediately see the problem; they submerge, come up directly in front of the ship and by the time they‘re detected they‘ve already launched enough torpedoes in your face, to sink an entire fleet. So you can‘t counter whatsoever, due to server lag, bad game design and Wargaming not knowing what they‘re doing. I do apologize for any grammatical and or spelling mistakes.

Thank you for bringing a class as broken as CV's to the game. Enjoying the ever increasing campy gameplay and being hunted the whole game with no defense. Listen to your player base. No player likes to feel like there is nothing they can do to negate getting crapped on. And CV's and now subs do that with little defense against. Fix the game before adding more broken stuff. 4 years since the CV rework. And they still can sit at the back of the map and crap on anyone they want too. Take away their aircraft factories and make it where they actually risk something.
This video is just a demonstration of all the problems with this inane new gameplay - subs, that practically noone in the community wants. Lying to us in the video about “minor damage”, and ignoring the elephant in the room that is shotgunning, just reinforces the idea that th3 Developer has completely lost their way with this game now. Such a shame.
5:12 this is easily the most frustrating and anoying ability in the game. I wonder what the reasoning was behind keeping it in this extremely powerful state. It is so powerful that it has a battle preperation timer. I think it should have it's range reduced to 4 km for all subs as it is almost impossible to counter and currently has an absolutely massive range, a great source of frustration sadly for an otherwise very fun and cool class.
I complained at first, but now I'm just used to this being part of the game. Lord forbid you have to learn to deal with a new mechanic and adapt to game play. With a little education, these things are not impossible to deal with. They have counters and weaknesses, just like every other ship in the game. The big counter, just like every other ship... teamwork. The more I learn to counter them (mostly by playing them and reading posts and watching videos) the less impossible they are. In fact, the game is more dynamic and interesting.

@@Daniloxidado From my perspective, there was a time when shotgunning was a thing, and now it's impossible to do. WG added damage ramp up that killed it. I relied on it heavily. Mods really help in pin-pointing subs. Mb that's my issue that I can't play properly on them, but right now they are more annoyance than a threat. TM8 are dying from guns of other battleships not subs. That is my experience.
Submarines have made gameplay even more passive and broken, we are in a long range sniping meta and homing torpedo mechanics are simply overpowered with detection and ASW capabilities being very limited, and too much pressure on the damage consumable. Gameplay mechanics need to change or gameplay will just get worse, it's just a torpedo festival right now if any ship dares to push even a little bit.
6:15 correction: every single ship can dodge torpedoes by turning in or away it's such a problem in fact that the submarine meta is to only shotgun, or ping at the last possible second so the enemy can't course adjust in time. double pings are still too easy to dodge and too difficult to hit. I think double pings should remove the homing cutoff distance and the ping hitbox should be twice as large. The idea behind pings was to give enemies a hint to where the submarine is, but it simply gives away the location too well, and is too easy to dodge. Thus people refuse to use it as intended, ruining the entire intention behind pings giving an option for the enemy to allow counterplay.
Keep these out of competitive game play, put them in their own game mode. I'm sick of eveyrone being at the back of the map hiding form super ships and subs while getting taxed by CV's. The game is going downhill fast by adding things in a way that aren't enjoyable to most of us.

Yes, subs are _relatively_ easy to kill and to evade, that's not the real problem here. The real problems are that firstly they, like CVs kill tactical gameplay. How are you supposed to develop an attack when everything you do is seen from miles away by something you can't kill? And secondly, like evading aircraft from a CV, you *_must_* drop _everything_ you're doing and concentrate on dealing with a ship type that doesn't have to risk it's own ass to counter _you._ Unlike literally every other ship in the game.

yes... its important also to know when to use your submarine surveillance as well... if you can get the enemy sub to burn theirs first that'll be better
Ping, and it's best to get close on enemy sub. It's easy to outmaneuver torpedoes by just changing depth. Keep yourself at 30 or 60 depth, and if you miss... Well than there's RAMMING SPEED! You can also keep your torpedoes till you get really close, and just point-blank fire at very close range if you can aim them well. But generally it is rare you will get to fight enemy sub without any backup. You should stick to your allies, as sub has little to no spotting capabilities when submerged, and everything is better at fighting subs than a sub.
As subs: you each activate sub search, spot each other, then each team presses a single key and you both instantly die to depth charge planes. Or someone activates hydros... And you instantly get spotted and depth charged. In very very rare cases, if the enemy sub doesn't find you and nobody has hydro, subs are untouchable. It's not fun for anyone lmao
I had to stopped playing Im not having fun . CVs and Subs are lame. Skill level of players make lots of 1 sided battles. World of Boats and Planes . 20000 battle veteran. I know what the game was like when it was good. It looks good the art is great but it sucks.

Submarines are real fun , I came back to the game thanks to it. Not too op not too shitty , they're in the perfect spot. People needs to use the brain now and it's too difficult for them to counter subs..
I agree subs are doing their role.. its just they're countered and punished easily for any mistake. but to be fair BB's having multiple charges of strikes, and repair party making them immune to homing torpedo attacks does ruin it..
@@Exiovus you just dont know how to play them if you have the feeling of "easy counterable subs". BBs have 1 charge of 10 secs and then 60 secs cooldown. a sub just need to shot 2 torps, wait and then send the rest. BB dead. Subs dont fit the game at all.

I won't lie, I haven't been a fan of subs since I started playing World of Warships again a while back. No matter what (at least in Co-op), I feel like they always go for me, even if I cross the whole dang map.
Do you know how an aircraft carrier works? The planes on the deck aren't to only ones they have 😂 They have hangars below the deck to keep more planes, and elevators that raise them to the deck.

Have never seen any online game company that does not listen to the player base at all. That’s why your player number dropped so hard that you have to merge servers and sold part of your studio. I just played a double CV, double sub game. Absolutely ridiculous. In other games, I've been chased by a single sub to the end of the map the whole game, who eventually killed me because I had no counter. A game is broken when it becomes not fun. Let's be clear about the people who drive subs and CVs. These people are "low-quality players". To increase short-term revenues, wargaming has created a downward spiral for their game to attract these people. Very soon, you'll see 3 CV and 3 sub games. If you're in a BB, that means probably 9 ships, far more agile than you, all with torps, hunting you down in what is basically a pond. (I'm assuming three DDs who can stealth-torp you). Your options? Join the "low-rent scum division" and start driving a sub or CV and put the game out of its misery faster. What will wargaming do when there are 5 CVs and 6 subs sitting in the queue relative to one BB and one Cruiser. I'll tell you. Your shipmate BB and cruiser will be bots. You'll be the only human player in a surface ship. So, after a few years of playing, I'm out until subs are out. Good luck, Wargaming. You'll need it.
you can counter it, but honestly if that sub was smart enough to get through ur team and avoid them... I mean he did his job. but you get automatic repair party... you can hunt and herass them.. and cv's are now a huge support role in the game, if any assassin gets to a support in anygame.. thats gg for the support or how it should be.

in what universe are you living in? they are a threat to all surface ships.They can ping you from outside your asw range, they can move underwater at flank speed and not be heard by any nearby ship with sonar, they can appear right next to you and shotgun you, they have sonar ping homing torps which are scifi cause they never existed in ww2, or korean war. scifi subs, scifi torps, but no scifi asw, all one sided. oh and dont forget the inflated base xp points given to subs for practically doing nothing, just to get players to play them.

So you use a consumable to avoid torps, before it reloads you have been pinged again and more torps on their way. You can’t outrun the sub, it’s faster than you, you can’t see the sub or know it’s there, but it can see you. So op.

Like usual, great editing, music and effort put into these videos. But personally I'm not interested in submarines in their current state.
I started playing in 2015. Over time we´ve seen some ridiculous ships and concepts in Halloween modes and they were fun. But what we have now in form of submarines and carriers as permanent part of the game is partly even more ridiculous. And in the main modes it is game-breaking.

Been playing since Alpha. Every time a sub kills me with no counterplay possible in my BB, I shut down the game and quit for a couple hours. A little longer each time. Maybe soon I will quit forever.

@@DeadBaron some of those have 5 Km range at tier IX. At that Range you basically can't dodge with a slow BB. Also Subs don't need to get as close as 5 km because they are invincible if they are farther away. Also also: You cant drop air deployed Depth charges directly on you, you need to drop them 1km ahead of you.
That all is still assuming that you can even see the sub. So BBs have no choice but to snipe, and some of the BBs aren't cut out to snipe because they can't hit anything if they are farther than 15km away
Battleships were never viable at the front row unless the enemy team were stupid battleships should be behind tbe destroyer screen or with cruisers.

Stupid implementation of the class is the main issue. A single direct hit would kill a submarine, it does not. A submarine at anything below periscope depth could not acquire a target yet now they can, their speed is simply out of kilter with their actual relative speed in game, it was feasible for BB’s to steam away from subs, indeed a recommended tactic, and DD’s had no issue catching them especially when submerged, hydro only detects them when close in as opposed to a decent distance as was the case. I can just about live with most of these for gameplay.
The fact though that a submarine that has had a high calibre shell punch through its pressure hull can then simply dive denies any logic. They should be restricted to at most periscope depth for at least 30secs after a hit say from 203mm and above. Being caught on the surface was the death knell for a sub now it is at most a minor inconvenience.
And they use to say submarines will never be implemented because they simply dont work for WoW

it seems that WARGAMING totally forgot there are ships that don't have any anti-submarine warfare at all. For example, Japanese Hybrid BB ISE. The Sub literally torpedo me from full health to death when a brawling battle left only me and a submarine. The matching mechanism is broken as well. In a brawling battle, one team have CV, Hybrid BB, DD and Sub. On the other hand, only CL and BB. Guess which team won without a single ship lost?

Over the years I’ve played more than 23,000 battles. Now that subs have arrived, I’m seriously considering quitting the game. I never thought that would happen. Are used to love the game. Subs are 0P. The worst of it is the acoustic torpedoes. If a sub focuses on a baby, or even a cruiser, you can kiss your backside goodbye. There is no escaping acoustic torpedoes. Also, subs are to fish on the surface. They should not be able to keep up with surface chips. That is unrealistic. Now when there is a sub in the game, I have to spend a lot of time defensively, instead of playing my natural aggressive style. I hate that. There are other problems with the subs that are not quite so egregious but I won’t go into them now. I was present in the game when aircraft carriers arrived and the fire storm over subs vastly overshadows the resistance to aircraft carriers. Fix the subs or get rid of them.
I got nowhere NEAR the battles of you, but I have been playing since CBT - I used to be in love with this game through til around 2018, and I slowly played less and less. Now I barely touch the game and I have not spent 1 red cent since last Black Friday.
Control is an AWESOME game! I sure Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus, and RDR2 all are as well, I am gonna work my way through those and then get more!

Guess what? I don't want WG to remove subs or carriers. I want them to confidently rest on their laurels and prove to us how vital these classes are to their game design by doing one simple thing. This action probably doesn't require more than a hotfix's worth of code and therefore shouldn't take away from current development work in any big way. Here's the idea:
Copy and paste random battles into a new battle type. Everything about randoms is carried over into this new game mode with one exception: carriers and submarines can't enter it. Call this mode "Surface Warfare" and test it, on the live clusters, for thirty days (or two patch cycles, whichever is shorter). Let the players decide - actually, this gives players a third choice beyond just "play" or "not play", the latter of which thousands of people seem to be doing already.
Prove it. Prove how well implemented these classes are. Show the players through game experience.
Yeah right; because the only people playing that "all class" mode would be subs and CVs. Nobody with any sense would queue up for that trash in surface-locked ships. The MM would be broken with 4subs/4CVs for each match, and maybe some surface bots chucked in for them to farm. They know it wont work so it will never be an option.
Nice thought though, I would certainly pay to unlock the "Surface Mode" on a month-to-month basis just to reduce the frustration factor of gaming.

To add to your idea, give the new game mode +/- 1 tier MM. make it basically a contest for 30 days. whichever mode sees the most interaction wins.
They will never do this. It would be embarrassing. No surface ships would join the CV-Sub game. They would have to insert bots.

4 stealth torps 50% HP gone in a T7 BB. Another set moments later I'm sitting on 10%. Because I'm spotted by a sub I can't see I'm taken out long-range by another BB. He must have been so disappointed that he didn't get the kill. The players make the game. Attract the wrong players you get what you get.
Just give us more convoy and wolfpack game modes, and we'll be fine. Just keep them out of randoms

Imagine playing a destroyer and getting ‘outspotted’ by a submarine while his team kills your ship and you have no idea where he is.
Imagine playing a cruiser with proximity depth charges, and getting ‘shotgunned’ to 0 by a unseen ship because it’s impossible to turn away in time.
Imagine playing a battleship and firing easily dodgable depth charges while eating homing torps that are impossible to dodge or outrun, it’s not like you need your damage con for anything else right?
Imagine the sub on your team is always a first class idiot who immediately dies while the enemy sub gets 4+ kills and just force wins the game on his own.
Get these pieces of trash out of the game if you want to stop hemorrhaging players. 😊
That, OR buff the Destroyers! Make the Destroyers have strong resistance to Submarine's homing torpedoes. Along with a much shorter sonar ping timer. That way A Destroyer can eat up them subs easily! (Just mind the Sub's comrades in arms.)
@Dominque Doty what... ok I will repeat, a sub defeats a dd by outspotting him and not firing off a single ping. Spotted dds are summarily gunned down as their main protective mechanic is null and void. Buffing destroyers is not going to address that.
Why do you think subs are banned in clan battles? Because they are inherently unfair... Devs don't want the fate of each clan battle to depend on one ship, apparently that's where they finally draw the line. The one logical action they've taken exposes their own awareness of the issue and unwillingness to address it.

But you're very much correct in regard to the Spotting. A Sub that can keep a DD detected is a dead DD. Cruisers and other ships will AIM at the DD till it is all sunk. And that is a good teamplay of a Sub's scouting action.

I tried a Sub once. And I felt like a dirty cheater. Thou I played a different style. Fire one homing torp each 3 seconds. While also Pinging a Target. Since the torps are spaced out in the 3 secs. I was eventually torturing the target.
Never again. I'll rather be a stealth DD with torps to land on BBs and cruisers.
Stfu. The bb depth charges are impossible to avoid. Every player guns for subs. And we have no HP. Destroyer players pretty much ran the game until subs showed up. Subs torpedoes aren't enough to destroy bbs or most cruisers in a single volly. You are just jealous that you can't run the game anymore.

@@GIUSEPPE2245 Well the submarine debacle is huge. I‘m gonna try to simplify the problem into a few short points.
1. They are stealthier than any other class, they can literally dive under any ship without being detected. Realistic, but bad for gameplay.
2. They tend to be faster, more maneuverable than destroyers and are still tankier. Which isn‘t a combination that should coexist in one vessel. You can be good at one, but terrible at the other two. But not be good at all of them.
3. The pinging mechanic stresses the damage control party. Tanking in a battleship involves using the damage con to counter the massive amount of HE spam. Now countering fires, floods, damaged equipment is already completely overwhelming the damage control. Having to counter the ping and also having to do it in a way, that if the torpedoes hits, the flood won‘t catch you with your pants down is hard when you‘re trying to deal with the entire rest of the game.
4. Shotgunning. Shotguns in video games tend to all be played the same way; hold it about half an arms length from the enemy‘s face and pull the trigger. Go any further away and they don‘t do any damage at all. Well going back to point 1 and 2. You can immediately see the problem; they submerge, come up directly in front of the ship and by the time they‘re detected they‘ve already launched enough torpedoes in your face, to sink an entire fleet. So you can‘t counter whatsoever, due to server lag, bad game design and Wargaming not knowing what they‘re doing.

Thank you for bringing a class as broken as CV's to the game. Enjoying the ever increasing campy gameplay and being hunted the whole game with no defense. Listen to your player base. No player likes to feel like there is nothing they can do to negate getting crapped on. And CV's and now subs do that with little defense against. Fix the game before adding more broken stuff. 4 years since the CV rework. And they still can sit at the back of the map and crap on anyone they want too. Take away their aircraft factories and make it where they actually risk something.

5:12 this is easily the most frustrating and anoying ability in the game. I wonder what the reasoning was behind keeping it in this extremely powerful state. It is so powerful that it has a battle preperation timer. I think it should have it's range reduced to 4 km for all subs as it is almost impossible to counter and currently has an absolutely massive range, a great source of frustration sadly for an otherwise very fun and cool class.

I complained at first, but now I'm just used to this being part of the game. Lord forbid you have to learn to deal with a new mechanic and adapt to game play. With a little education, these things are not impossible to deal with. They have counters and weaknesses, just like every other ship in the game. The big counter, just like every other ship... teamwork. The more I learn to counter them (mostly by playing them and reading posts and watching videos) the less impossible they are. In fact, the game is more dynamic and interesting.

Submarines have been so poorly implemented in this game, they are so boring to play and make the game way more passive and dull.

@@Daniloxidado From my perspective, there was a time when shotgunning was a thing, and now it's impossible to do. WG added damage ramp up that killed it. I relied on it heavily. Mods really help in pin-pointing subs. Mb that's my issue that I can't play properly on them, but right now they are more annoyance than a threat. TM8 are dying from guns of other battleships not subs. That is my experience.

Submarines have made gameplay even more passive and broken, we are in a long range sniping meta and homing torpedo mechanics are simply overpowered with detection and ASW capabilities being very limited, and too much pressure on the damage consumable. Gameplay mechanics need to change or gameplay will just get worse, it's just a torpedo festival right now if any ship dares to push even a little bit.

it's such a problem in fact that the submarine meta is to only shotgun, or ping at the last possible second so the enemy can't course adjust in time.
double pings are still too easy to dodge and too difficult to hit. I think double pings should remove the homing cutoff distance and the ping hitbox should be twice as large.
The idea behind pings was to give enemies a hint to where the submarine is, but it simply gives away the location too well, and is too easy to dodge.
Thus people refuse to use it as intended, ruining the entire intention behind pings giving an option for the enemy to allow counterplay.
And how is that different than Destroyers, just pulling up and broadsiding from 15 feet away?
Or Dive Bombers being moved around until the last possible second?

Yes, subs are _relatively_ easy to kill and to evade, that's not the real problem here. The real problems are that firstly they, like CVs kill tactical gameplay. How are you supposed to develop an attack when everything you do is seen from miles away by something you can't kill? And secondly, like evading aircraft from a CV, you *_must_* drop _everything_ you're doing and concentrate on dealing with a ship type that doesn't have to risk it's own ass to counter _you._ Unlike literally every other ship in the game.

yes... its important also to know when to use your submarine surveillance as well... if you can get the enemy sub to burn theirs first that'll be better
Ping, and it's best to get close on enemy sub. It's easy to outmaneuver torpedoes by just changing depth. Keep yourself at 30 or 60 depth, and if you miss... Well than there's RAMMING SPEED!
You can also keep your torpedoes till you get really close, and just point-blank fire at very close range if you can aim them well.
But generally it is rare you will get to fight enemy sub without any backup. You should stick to your allies, as sub has little to no spotting capabilities when submerged, and everything is better at fighting subs than a sub.

As subs: you each activate sub search, spot each other, then each team presses a single key and you both instantly die to depth charge planes. Or someone activates hydros... And you instantly get spotted and depth charged.
In very very rare cases, if the enemy sub doesn't find you and nobody has hydro, subs are untouchable.

I agree subs are doing their role.. its just they're countered and punished easily for any mistake. but to be fair BB's having multiple charges of strikes, and repair party making them immune to homing torpedo attacks does ruin it..

BBs have 1 charge of 10 secs and then 60 secs cooldown. a sub just need to shot 2 torps, wait and then send the rest. BB dead.
Subs dont fit the game at all.
Not really that hard to beat them its called paying attention yet the ones complaining are those who have tunnel vision.

You'll lesrn their weaknesses real quick. But that takes time, effort and skill which you cry babies dont seem willing to learn.

I won't lie, I haven't been a fan of subs since I started playing World of Warships again a while back. No matter what (at least in Co-op), I feel like they always go for me, even if I cross the whole dang map.
Subs are a nuisance in Co-op, as are CVs.
Carriers can replace destroyed aircraft. Destroyers, Cruisers and Battleships can't repair/replace destroyed AA guns. Sounds balanced comrade...

They have hangars below the deck to keep more planes, and elevators that raise them to the deck.

@@richardcobb1555 they pretty much are. The best counter to a sub is to play as another sub. And for a lot of ppl, sub gameplay is boring to play as and overly frustrating to play against. No one wins in this scenario

I just played a double CV, double sub game. Absolutely ridiculous. In other games, I've been chased by a single sub to the end of the map the whole game, who eventually killed me because I had no counter. A game is broken when it becomes not fun. Let's be clear about the people who drive subs and CVs. These people are "low-quality players". To increase short-term revenues, wargaming has created a downward spiral for their game to attract these people. Very soon, you'll see 3 CV and 3 sub games. If you're in a BB, that means probably 9 ships, far more agile than you, all with torps, hunting you down in what is basically a pond. (I'm assuming three DDs who can stealth-torp you). Your options? Join the "low-rent scum division" and start driving a sub or CV and put the game out of its misery faster. What will wargaming do when there are 5 CVs and 6 subs sitting in the queue relative to one BB and one Cruiser. I'll tell you. Your shipmate BB and cruiser will be bots. You'll be the only human player in a surface ship. So, after a few years of playing, I'm out until subs are out. Good luck, Wargaming. You'll need it.
you can counter it, but honestly if that sub was smart enough to get through ur team and avoid them... I mean he did his job. but you get automatic repair party... you can hunt and herass them.. and cv's are now a huge support role in the game, if any assassin gets to a support in anygame.. thats gg for the support or how it should be.

Where's the hate even coming from? Subs are almost useless tactically, they are good at killing loners from a distance, but they just sneeze and everyone can see them. And than they're dead unless your team is stupid. If that's OP, wait till you see a torpedo focused DD played by someone with a brain.

in what universe are you living in? they are a threat to all surface ships.They can ping you from outside your asw range, they can move underwater at flank speed and not be heard by any nearby ship with sonar, they can appear right next to you and shotgun you, they have sonar ping homing torps which are scifi cause they never existed in ww2, or korean war. scifi subs, scifi torps, but no scifi asw, all one sided. oh and dont forget the inflated base xp points given to subs for practically doing nothing, just to get players to play them.
