I will NEVER buy Thorogood boots again because of the same problem you got... my boots were not the same between right and left. They were actually feeling like different sizes they were so bad, plus the right boot went loose grain in the top ankle inside panel and no matter how tight I'd tie it the fit was sloppy. So my right laces are pulled as tight as can be with the tongue totally covered from top to bottom, the left side has a normal gap showing the tongue. The soles are not applied correctly also with the MaxWedge tread patterns not even close to matching/mirroring from each boot. So I'm now stuck with boots marked as my correct size... but due to the loose grain and sloppy fit I can't wear them comfortably. My Redwing moc toes never have this problem. Spend the extra 50 bucks and get the Rewings, they are far superior in material, craftsmanship, and accuracy of sizing... plus the leather is thick and never gets loose.
Every shoe manufacturer has issues with production at some point, especially when they mass produce. You should’ve tried exchanging them. I’m sure they would’ve worked out the issue with you. My two cents!
I don't think they're actually made by Thorogood. They don't feature these on the site anymore. Should say, though, I've never owned anything by Thorogood, but I bet their in-house QC is a little better. These are probably outsourced. I mean, bad QC, single layer sides... That's what I think. Was it this model you bought? I agree about being wary. And making sure everything is up to spec on any boots you buy from there now. I would expect better than this. I was considering a pair of these exact ones, but now they're out of the question.
Thanks for letting us all know they brought back the roofer! Just ordered some. Thorogoods have always been very inconsistent. It’s not just pair to pair it’s boot to boot for sure BUT when you get a good pair man they are great comfortable boots that look great!
Pues the Boots are Okaaay, I've always liked that Monkey Boot kinda style. I'm a Artist by Tade and like the Color, But I immediately noticed the Flaw you pointed out from the Welt to the Eye Hole, the difference in stitching is what caught my attention. I can imagine how that was uncomfortable from the inside of the Boot. I would return them as well, you deserve to Get what you Paid for. Again I always enjoy watching your videos, keep them coming. Hey ... and Have a Great Weekend. I'll be waiting for the next one. Gracias 🙏🏽 ...
It's funny ... this style of monkey/roofer boot really grows on you. I used to think they looked weird and now I'm definitely drawn to them. The Archie from Unmarked looks super cool but it's nearly 400 dollars.
I just discovered the Archie boot from Unmarked and I’m definitely interested in them. Probably going to pick up a pair soon. I wish they offered a wedge sole for them.
The things they changed makes the new boot not a work boot. This is just fashion. I was looking for these because of Jamie Hyneman wearing them on mythbusters, but these new ones don't have the side protection the old ones had. Too bad. Also that right boot with the serious lack of quality control (how they sewed it wrong), is a big warning too. Not to speak of how Thorogood don't even feature these anymore. I bet they found a cheap factory abroad to make them. Thank you for making this video and pointing out the differences! I'm sure that for a non-work boot, this will be fine and last a long time. If you can get a pair where both are sewn correctly... And they're still beautiful, but I think I'm gonna stay away. 😏
Thanks for the thorough review, Aaron! Yep. The angle on the toe box and inconsistency is why I wouldn't pick these up. I have a pair of black 6" Thorogoods that are great but each boot is different and they fit odd. I also have a pair of walnut 8" that are much better. I'm going to have a pair of monkey/roofers MTO'ed. I think their walnut leather might be a Seidel double stuffed. I think it's absolutely gorgeous, more of an oxblood color, and looks much better than most burgundy leather or CXL #8.
I found a pair of original, NIB, on eBay in desert tan rough out and the brown toe in my size. Skipped bidding and just hit 'buy now' (189$ + shipping). I dyed the tan black, added 8" kilties and leather laces, and they have quickly become my favorite boots. They are out there if you are willing to look. If you are a boot-head, it will be well worth your effort.
I just bought the danner version, love them. They look good on feet. And I don’t have to worry about the toe box stitch anymore. These look a bit odd. Maybe I just like the danner version better
Would be keen to get some. Didn't get to pick up roofer boot before they stopped selling. Saw place on Etsy that sells the ee width. Were these d or we and how would you say feel/fit Aaron? Ty
Strange that that made it out of the factory, they should be building those from patterns but that big of a difference makes it look like they don't.I don't feel as bad about missing obvious flaws in products when a professional like yourself does the same thing.

Honestly I haven’t seen to many. The Chippewas are one of the best (sturdy ) I’ve seen, but unfortunately they don’t make those or the old thorogood anymore. There are a few other brands but I’ve only seen them online (pictures)

WOW! A very serious flaw here with these boots but I do like the look of them.
Thanks for the heads up. Mine are coming tomorrow, and I will definitely be looking for this issue. Great video.
Glad I could help!!
Let us know how it goes 😅
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Saludos mi amigo! Nice boots!
Amazon is still selling the original, if you can fit a size 6 or 6.5.
Yes i have seen them on Ebay, if you cut your toes off maybe they will fit

I had a pair of Moc toes. Wanted to love them but they killed me
Do the new ones come with two pieces of leather on the sides?
I just bought the same boots a few weeks ago
Yo!! They brought these back?! The had discontinued these boots in the past
I wouldn’t say they’re exactly the same but not a totally different boot 😅
Not to mention that they only came out with these (walnut) color
Those are nice boots.....but definitely defective. Exchange them if you can.

They saved money on the leather.
I have some thorogoods that one fits better than the other. In general a good boot but their quality control is terrible
When you make yourself a pair. I’ll pay for you to make me a pair. Let me know. I’m a fan of your work.
Hola Aaron, como se llama la tienda donde encontraste tus botas, a ver si paso a verlas en persona, gracias por el video.

How is the sizing of these vs Red Wing #8 last?
It’s very similar
I wear size 10 D on the 8 last as well.

Son estoperoles 😉
Eso mero!!! Sabía que que por ahí estaba la palabra pero me traicionó el subconsciente 😅
Where did you buy this pair? Thanks
Got them at my local boot store
@@AaronG2480 Where is that store. I'm in LA and I'd like to try the boots first before buying. Thanks
