I have one of thease except a rebadged sedan as a cadillac any reccomendations of mods to do to get into drifting? I inteded it as a car to practice in and im also building a volvo 240
For close to stock cars it should be the best choice. There was an engine refresh for the 2001 models 3.0->3.2 liters. But those were only available with automatic gearbox. Since at that time this was the last rear wheel driven Opel, they did not develop new gearboxes but slightly update very old designs - none allow for that torque. The inline 6 diesel was a bmw engine with bmw gearbox, the planned V8 would use externally produced Zf, that was not used for series V6 tho. Also like 32 (street legal) prototype models with the 5.7 16V V8 GM LS1 engines were made. Same engine as in the Corvette, Camaro, Monaro/GTO (based on Omega's platform). But they did not enter series production and even replacement parts (like biger brakes and lighter hood) are sold out already. Some people did fit the older Senator B inline 6 4.0l with Zf gearbox. And some did fit all kinds of BMW engines. The engine department offers room for inline 6 so V8, V10 and V12 are possible.By today it's probably very hard to find a car in great shape to justify such a investment of fitting a huge engine into. For differential, I'm not an expert. But there were several iterations. On the early models you could lock it by button press. The latter did not allow this as it was believed the traction control (and later ESP) would offer the same benefits. Of cause you could disable this electronic support. But parts should be interchangeable with older opel rear wheel drive models and even soem GM models. Granted at that time the parts sharing between US and EU models was not that huge. But you should not forget about ralley Ascona B, Senator B with 4.0 and the Omega A by Lotus ;o)
Only the 6 cylinder diesel engines were made by BMW. As Opel and GM did not have any big diesel engine at that time. But to be honest those V6 were not the best ever designed by Opel. They were planned with 54 angle to make them fit into smaller front wheel driven cars. But they shown to be not better than the old Opel inline 6 engines. And for smaller cars turbo inline 4s had also shown good results. For the Omega Opel did add a 4 position multi-Ram system to get a better torque figure, that helped a bit...
Hey man. I have the american cadillac catera, 3.0 v6 and all of them here were automatic trans 4L30E .. My engine sounds so healthy and nice when i rev it, but my car is soo slow 😪 ... When it gets up to about 50mph im satisfied with it. Dont know if my transmission slips in 1 and 2 (of the 4 speed automatic) .. or if 1 or both of my catalytic converters are clogged a little.. or if my engine is running kind of lean (when i step on the pedal halfway or more it seems to wake up and has decent power. Any advice? I cant believe my car is soo slow. I like the car but need more power. Ive had it for 5 yrs.. only driven it here and there.. about a total of 1.5yrs Also, do u recommend any tuning options for this engine.. can it be tuned by a computer? And what about me possibly turbo charging it? If i can go turbo, first i want to get the normal power out of it, because i know these couldnt habe been as slow as mine from the factory, and again, the engine revving sounds like it has power but my car is terribly slow from take off lol. Thanks.. anyone who has an idea, please comment.
+MattyB727 I thought so lol. I have an auto one and want to try and drift it. I'm hoping a hydro e brake will be enough for me to get it to slide around
Bravo.

do you know what year it is? cause i think it might be the same as the Holden commodore wagons we get here in Aus
That is right, saying it looks the same, the Holden is wider and longer. This is called a Opel Omega, in this model delivered from late '99 till '03
of course it's like something longer vx wagon
i have bunch of Omegas here

hmm interesting rwd opel and v6 ... hows the engine and the trany ??
these things are bulletproof so I'm sure its fine
Ace Andy BMW engineered and suplied parts for Omega, so BMW quality.

was it automatic?

i think you would need a locked diff/ welded diff
Doesnt look like it but the auto would drift with traction off... It would turn things completely off!
Fährt du quer siehst du mehr^^ opelix der omeganator
is it automatic or manual?
yeah igot automatic but ithink i have to put a manual gearbox for that driving😁

Manual or Automatic gearbox?
Manual gearbox

You guy do relies this is a Holden Commodore wagon
ao_s15
GM owns/owned Vauxhall, Opel, and Holden and they all branded their omega/commodore or what have you, differently
you aussies are very lucky to get this german-american thing whit v8's they are the best sedans in the world
Whiz Zexual not all of the Commodores, from vn upwards they didn't offer I6
It's an omega with a v6. Commodore looks similar but is wider and came with a bigger V6 or v8
It‘a an Opel Omega B2 X30XE V6 &‘ no Commodore V8!
What suspensions use?
Was KW Var.3 at front, home made dampers and Eibach springs at rear.
