My Three VCRs segment was nearly all done on the new camera, but the quality was crap. I've now got it set up properly and the next video (sneak preview, it will be about Beta) is going to be much better quality.

That belt boiling was something i didn't know about untill i started watching 12voltvids, he puts the offending belt in a half cup of water and the microwave ovan does the rest.

So on the mds-s38 you relubed the sticky part and it's as happy as larry :-D
Shame about the diskman, i guess the charger/headphones were pinched to complete another diskman :-(.
I didn't even need to re-lube the deck, I'm confident that the fact it had been left sitting on its side for some years were the cause of the problem.
I would say that belt boiling is only a temporary repair but it's good for debugging purposes, to prove a machine works before ordering new belts.

Oh yes i noticed the mug from techmoan, him and technology connections are well worth watching :-D.
I have done worse than boiling a belt, i had a tapedeck that needed a drivebelt as the original was slighty too slack.
I removed the motor and elongated the deck screw holes so i could pull the motor back by 1mm.
Yes it was a bodge :-D

HI BETACAM sp i just worked on a lot of them you will need a lot of space very heavy units i posted a video 3 years ago i got a lot of emails so i pulled the video it's the same
parts that go bad i love to see the video and see if you find the same as i did

i got 2 for free i was very very lucky
