Some interesting updates on the Charter Version of the Dufour 44 - the Engine now to be the 76 hp Yanmar ; an excellent change imho, due to the far superior availability and pricing of parts Globally. I had heard that the standard Charter Draft was going to be 5 ft 3 inches which cheered me up as I could get by with that for a couple of years before having the Custom Lead Wing Keel fitted bu that does seem still in flux as I was notified that it is likely to be 5 feet 8 inches at the Moment. Jamie the Agent has done a wonderful job with the interior design, the silly Hexagonal Saloon Table is still an option, but the scope of optional changes without that Table has been expanded interestingly. The Range of Option packages to Suit Easy and Ocean versions, remains pretty Decent it appears. No news on a 2 Cabin version as yet, but it is easy enough to de Cabin a third Cabin in favour of Storage, Workshop, or whatever anyway. Fair play to Dufour, as they appear to be taking Suggestions and Recommendations via Agents very seriously in their ambition to shift their Emphasis towards Cruising. Reasons to be cheerful Part 4. A Big Well done and deep gratitude to all Concerned. Bob. 👍🌟🌟🌟❤️
The boat is nice. It's not bad, although it's not in my top 10 on my wish list for Santa. Not even in my top 30. I was recently on one and I think it's a nice floating apartment. Among the things I didn't like at all is that only God and Olivier Racoupeau know where the anchor chain is. Also, the weight of the ballast is top secret, which seems suspicious to me.

Manufacturers want to keep their CE Cat A classification. The volume of this boat makes it comparable to say a 44’ from only a few years ago. Expecting a draft of less than 1.7m 5’ 7” is not realistic. Want to mud crawl, back to a bilge keel Westerly, advantage you will be sailing really slowing if you ram it on the mud 🤭 Beneteau 40.7 has 2.4m draft, shallow is 1.9m
@@martinjohnson4264 Kindly state what exactly is unrealistic about the use of Wing Keels which easily allow a useful Shoal Draft.Frankly recommending going back to a Bilge Keel is quite insulting, given there is only one Boat Builder who builds an equivalent and excellent Twin Keel option, and that is Sirius Yachts. Frankly, if you just Suck at Navigating up Estuaries and into the upper Reaches of Rivers, just admit it and you won’t have to make ridiculous comments about what in your rather ignorant opinion is Realistic would you. 🤔

Good job showing the boat. Interesting, hanse have good innovations but really on the charter side. Focusing on comfort and lacking on performance. For futur showing. @@Charles5882 I had a good look at the Dehler 46 last year, and I have a feeling there will be a smaller one at La Rochelle this year. I will do what I can to get around it and post my findings for you.
@@Charles5882 If I remember Right, Dehler are one of the Bost Vuilders that have totally lost the plot with the extreme Depth of the Draft of their Keels, but downright gorgeous with their Below Deck Layout and Finishing, which sort of defeats the point of having a Cruising Sailboat imho. Not just for American Buyers who go Cruising and not Racing. The Air Sraft issue should be an easy Fix, as I'm going to be able to order a 40 foot Air Draft Selden Mast with in Mast Furling, so any Commissioning agent should be able to do the samefor safe clearance for Bridges and Powerline/ Telephone line clearance up Estuaries and Rivers Globally ? The big issu for Cruisers though is that damned minimum Draft of 5 ft 7 inches, which is nowhere near shallow enough, and the boat itself is too Small to bother with the significant expense of the design, construction, delivery and fitting of a Custom Lead Wing Keel just to o tain a Shallow enough Draft. The Cons of going with a Lifting Keel option if one is even available, Co tinge to Rulecthem out for me to be able to get a minimum Draft of below 3 foot. To me, a Sailboat of between 43 and 45 ft LOA is the maximum likely size for opting for a Custom Keel tbh - that is a back of a Postcard rough calculation though , and the CAD Keel Design Software should easily confirm details. As the nice SV Tonic Ladies know all too well, I'm getting really cheesed of with Boatbuilders not embracing the terrific opportunities offered by Wing Keels for Cruising Spec Sailboats, so I'll finish with Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Is the air draft 66'? To be a smaller "East Coast" American yacht 64' or (preferably) less would be ideal...can a slightly short mast be ordered for American buyers?
@@SVTONICBoatWives 65' is the limit on the intracoastal waterway, or under that...and yes for fixed bridges...only a few US built 40' boats these days, but all under 65'. Market must be too small for Euro builds, etc.
