I'm a 12 years experienced drummer and I've been looking this video for 12 years haha. Absolutely in love with your way of explain things. I subscribe, like the video and of course practice once and once. THANK YOU!
Wow Louie! That blow my mind! What a fill factory! I can do anything with these exercise. Thank you very much for sharing you are my inspiration to play. I just came from studio with your video practicing it. Thank you
Man I have to agree with you. I felt the same way. I was blowing threw stuff much faster. And retaining everything. I be never had an instructor that worked so well. It's nice to see how many drummers he's inspiringly.
Mr. Palmer, excellent playing. You're right, things sound better when they are played well, whether simple or advanced. You demonstrated this very well in this video. You're left hand ghosting from groove to fill really adds feel, clarity, and dynamic to your playing. What are some of the stroke rolls you are playing between the hand and foot double combinations. Thanks!
+nsampson37 Thanks for the compliment! I'd have to look closely but it's probably a lot of single strokes with accents. You can get a lot of mileage from one note rate and one sticking simply by adding dynamics and accents.
Hey Louie, just wanted to say that your videos are awesome for the quality of both contents and explanations. To top it off, it's really entertaining to see/hear you playing those phrases, cutting edge drumming! Great sound, timing and dynamics control. Keep up the awesome work bro!
Hey Paul. Nice video. I've seen all kinds of drum lessons on U tube. I think yours work for me the best out of them all.. Reading music took me awhile. And watching certain drum lessons on utube just didn't click for me. What I mean is for me personally. Some lesson explanation are gone threw way to fast. Or the instructor talks so fast threw the lesson I was thinking huh? What he say? Or an instructor would play a fill let's say. A liner fill. He blow's three it at top speed and he's looking bad to the bone. Lol. But I didn't catch or learn to much very fast. Again I'm speaking of my own personal experience. Your drum lessons hit me like a Mack Truck. So easy to understand. I'm actually kinda shocked how much I did retain. So I wanted to say thank you. Thanks very much for your good help and instructors. So keep pounding my friend. And I'll be looking forward to your next class. Lance k. Holum
What's the next video after this one which talks about switching from one combination to the next. I've watched and purchased all the videos you've posted and that's what I need help on how to be able to switch smoothly and just not sound like patterns. Thanks again
This is great !!! So I noticed when the video started you were doing something in between your rolls on the snare with your left hand , what were you doing it kept it going !
Hi Louie, how are you? I became a subscriber because I think your style and your concept of our beloved instrument are great, I am slowly seeing your videos and they are exciting. Just one question I want to ask you ... do you play the snare drum with rim shot? ok thank you very much and send you a hug from Argentina!
Hi Louis!! Honestly, I have good coordination, but I've always had problems with that combination (2 kicks + 2 strokes) Any tip to improve it? Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱!!
Try breaking things up into groups. Then join them when you get comfortable. To much talk. I find if a drum teacher says hello I'm so so. Then let's get to it. Show the liner drum fill on a music sheet. And if it's 12 notes long. Brake it down into 3 units. Like this. KRL. KKRLRL. KRL. This is 12 singal strokes. Start slow. If your a bigginer or new to this go real slow. And maybe brake them down like shown above. When you get used to the pattern put them all together. Slowly start with your bass drum and snare. Now if your new again slowly tell the muscle memory builds. Now you will start to build your speed with practice. Finally make it your own. Move around the drum set with your right hand first. Then as you please. Not everything will sound good. It's up to you to find that smokin cool combo that works for you. Remember speed timing and various phrasing can be a blast. Fast slow soft and easy. Good luck
I WILL be working on this extensively. I feel it is what I need to make a major step forward.

Hi Louis!! Honestly, I have good coordination, but I've always had problems with that combination (2 kicks + 2 strokes) Any tip to improve it? Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱!!
Thank you for the detailed lesson! I'm guessing your playing is influenced by Vinnie and Weckl? Cheers!
Question, what cymbals are you using in this setup ? I like the sound
Looks like they’re the Sabian HHX Legacy series
Nice Louie
awesome,,,thank you mr palmer
Left hand singles between your hand and foot and quarter notes with your right hand on the toms. Have fun working that one out.
Love it thank you!
Those toms! 😍😍😍
Thanks for this free lesson!
p.s. the sound on your videos are really low, please make it louder for future videos.
This is excellent!
Love this
i wish you had a foot cam but still the best lesson..
Very nice!
+tdrum21 Cool, thanks!
The is nothing wrong with the recording level on this video, I would check your own system. They sound very good to me.
this lesson is à like à preview of most of weckl and vinnie concepts
are you using heel-toe for this kind of approach ?
+TheSaneMe No, just regular strokes from the ankle.
Parabens
Can't wait til the next one ! Thanks Louie
My.drums. sound like crap after hearing yours what brand do you recommend
Whew, you’re one hell of a drummer. Do you have a signed band
"That ugly sound if you play the rimshot too far back" :-) I do this on purpose on fills if I want to try and invoke more of a timbale sound.
My god man that intro was nuts
