  • Here is a video of the Mountain route on my RR. It is part of the original layout that started in 2007 but it has been altered several times since then. The old tunnel collapsed and a bypass was put in until it could be rebuilt. The Mountain route is closed during the Winter. The latest alteration was to lengthen the isolated siding that makes up the Reverse Loop section. This video shows how it all works.

Really enjoy your videos. Many of your ideas have inspired some for my garden layout. Just starting out myself, it's been a looonngg winter.
Next winter I might buy a Gravy trax.

Thank you. If you like trains and Gravitrax you are going to like my next video that combines both. Stay tuned.

Thanks Kelly. If I'm not running I'm tinkering on the RR to make it better. If I can find an Aristo right hand wide radius switch I'm thinking about adding a switchback. I always liked those.

Instead of throwing the DPDT switch each time you could use a YardMaster from RR Concepts which could automatically switch the center track section in addition to aligning electric turnouts. The train would run between loops by itself.

I thought about adding an automatic system but I use this feature so rarely that I'd rather keep it simple and use the money elsewhere. I don't mind stopping the train. The RR is more backwoods than modern mainline. 🙂

Yep, weird things can happen up there. There was actually one of those mysterious silver monoliths that were popping up in National Parks that spent a couple of weeks and then it disappeared. 😁
