Portals Trestles and Bridges
In this video we take a walk around my RR to explore the different Portals, Trestles and Bridges that I have built for it. Maybe you will get some ideas and be inspired to build something unique for your RR?
In this video I mention some of my other videos that show how damage to a trestle was repaired, a rebuild of a bridge and a 10 year anniversary of another and you can find them on my channel or here plus many more.

The 25th Anniversary of Y2K Commemorative Train Trip.
มุมมอง 12114 วันที่ผ่านมา
It's hard to believe but tonight, New Years Eve 2025 is the 25th Anniversary of the Y2K scare. The crew at my RR decided to run a train to commemorate that time when we didn't know what was going to happen when the internal clocks on computers world wide would click over to 2000. Luckily the banks, the internet and modern society didn't go dark as airplanes and satellites fell from the sky. Wha...

Building Buildings, a How To, Part 2
มุมมอง 17728 วันที่ผ่านมา
Here is the follow up to the exciting Part 1 of this series. In this video I will show you how I put together a small building for my RR. I call it a Switch Shack. The switch in the side is used to shut off and isolate the track power on the siding so a train can be parked while others run on the RR. This building is 8x13x9" tall. I ripped a pine board on my table saw and used a mitre saw to cu...
Building Buildings, a How To. Part 1
มุมมอง 92428 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video I take a walk round the RR to show you various buildings that I built. They go from a simple shack, cut from a 4x4 post to a more elaborate stick built and cladded cranberry tower with a corrugated metal roof and 3D printed doors and windows. I use mostly pine in my builds that is ripped on a table saw and cut to length with a mitre saw. I use Tightbond3 wood glue and both brad an...
How to Build a G Scale Depressed Center Flatcar
มุมมอง 151หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I will show you how I built a 24" long depressed center flat car with a 10" deck. You could make a shorter deck if you want. You could also use regular trucks, I used the longer Bachmann passenger trucks to give the car a more heavy duty look. If you used regular boxcar trucks you could shorten the deck above them by 1-2 inches. This is a easy build that uses common items to make ...
Celebrating the Foam Bridge 10 year Anniversary
มุมมอง 2303 หลายเดือนก่อน
It has been 10 years since I built a viaduct style bridge using 2" foam insulation and we just had to celebrate that it is still looking great and working well. Ride along in either the RDC or the Railbus to the bridge for a photo shoot and a surprise.
The Mass Coastal Cranberry Train
มุมมอง 3334 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video our Ocean Spray cranberry juice supply is running low so a train is scrambled to go and collect the loaded cars that are waiting at the Cranberry Elevator. The train then delivers the cars to the processing plant and soon enough we will have plenty of juice to enjoy.
A Cranberry Elevator my MIK 2024 Build
มุมมอง 1704 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was my entry in the Mik's 2024 Build challenge over on the website LargeScaleCentral.com It is a fun contest where a theme is chosen and we have 30 days and up to $30 to build something within that theme. In 2023 it was to build something that could be seen along Main street USA. In 2024 it was to build something that could be seen along a RR main line. We don't have grain here but we have...
A Rail Road Switchback Run.
มุมมอง 2194 หลายเดือนก่อน
I always admired the switchback on real RR's and given the sloped yard where my RR is built I just had to have one. I found a spot and with some engineering I managed to squeeze it in. This switchback also serves as a way to reverse a train and have it run in the opposite direction. I usually run trains clockwise but this feature allows a short train to turn and run counter clockwise. My RR is ...

Garden Railroad Plowing Snow Part 2
มุมมอง 53011 หลายเดือนก่อน
Friday night we received a couple of inches of snow and the lads of the Cape Cod Central RR were out clearing the Rail Road on Saturday. They did a fine job as we saw in the "Garden RailRoad Plowing Snow 12024" video. Saturday night we had a dusting of snow and the boys of the Bay Colony line wanted a chance to earn some overtime pay so they grabbed the wedge and took it for a run. There wasn't...
Garden Railroad Plowing Snow on 12024
มุมมอง 730ปีที่แล้ว
The Cape Cod Central RR received some plowable snow so the MOW crew hoped right on it. The boss suggested using our custom built blower car the "Rail Warrior" to clear the track and it was working well until we hit the deeper drifts but luckily the crew had brought along the wedge plow and after swapping it out the work continued. Once the line was cleared the guys grabbed the GP and headed bac...
LGB Christmas Train 2023
มุมมอง 167ปีที่แล้ว
My 2023 downsized Christmas train setup is a throwback to my first LGB set in 2006 that consisted of a circle of track, locomotive, 2 flat cars and a caboose. This humble beginning has expanded into the all consuming train hobby insanity! Ho Ho Ho ! Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

How to add a wood load to your G scale tender
Very cool... Love how you've made something that looks difficult so simplified! You're buildings are amazing too! Man, you've got the best Rail Road around
Thanks Quest, I'm glad you like it.
Several of your structures and scenes are so pleasing/inspiring, that I'm sharing/saving them for future reference! Thanks Todd, from a future layout in West Texas.
I'm happy to hear that. Garden Railroading is such a fun multi faceted hobby and if you have questions just ask. Happy RRing!
Liking the removable bridge.
🏆
Did you make those cars just this year or keep them for 25 years? Always great videos
@@coastaltitansrailroad Thanks. Actually you can buy these cars and I recently saw one for $30.
Kool Running...... Happy New Year Todd........
Thanks Tim, Happy New Year!
@@CapeCodTrainTodd Thank You.......
Lots of the end of the world deals. Ozone layer, Y2K, 2012, Aztec calendar,, Global warming, Climate change, and the all important nuclear missile crisis. Wonder what's going to kill us all next. I'm rooting for the asteroid. Happy new year!!!!!
That is so true. There is always something coming round the corner that is going to get us so I suggest to chill out and get training as in play with trains.
He always puts on a Great Show. 🏆
What a fun Video.... 25 years ago 🤯... Does that mean it's Y2.25K ?
Too cool!
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing
🙂
VERY NICE!
Thanks🙂
Great Video and Decorations.... Merry Christmas Todd......
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you.
❤ love this Christmas set up...
Thanks🙂
What material are you using for the windows/doors? PLA? PET?
Wonderful.. love ALL your buildings and Garden Railroad Layout... Great Job.
Thank you.☺
Brilliantly Crafted.. very inspiring...
Thanks😊
They are beautiful!
Thank you.
Built better than some of the houses on the Cape. One of the things I found renovating my kitchen this past year. Not one square corner or straight wall. Merry Christmas to you and yours. And a safe and healthy new year.
Thanks. Was it built in the 80's? They were throwing them up back then. Merry Christmas.
Thanks so much for the tour of your techniques! Really love the idea of using the hardware cloth to create the widow pane grid!
Thanks Jeff🙂 I have tried so many techniques to make windows from "frames" cut from plastic edging, to painting lines on the plexi, to replicate the grids to gluing the plexi onto the woof frame on the building then gluing the painted hardware clothe on the outside, one time on the inside and that is all old school. I now 3D print the windows and doors and they are really nice.
You’re the best sir. 🏆 Happy Christmas
Thanks🙂
Simple and effective all the way to elaborate and detailed. Nice.
Thank you. I hope to inspire others to build their own.
master builder
I wouldn't say that but thanks. I build them tough to survive the hot and cold of New England. I don't do too many details because they tend to disappear due to critters or the leaf blower. 😁
Love the smiling Santa.
It's actually Peter Griffin 😁
Excellent....! 👍😁👍
Thanks.🙂
Nicely done Todd !
Thanks Sean.
With all the Smurfs around how can it be depressed? Fantastic job. Looks great. Thank you.
Thanks and Ha! Yep Smurfs make most things better🙂
Awesome Job... Love to see these plans so I can be inspired.
Happy thanksgiving 🦃🍁
Thanks you too. It still burns my turkey that youtube removed the music from this video.
Love it, party train is amazing 🥳🎉
Looking great as always.
Cape Cod rocks the rains. Always has. 🏆
Love the new "Ocean Spray" building .... But I'm really vibing with that neat Airstream in the background dude ! 😎
Thanks. The Airstream is my wife's idea.
U never disappoint
Thank you. Happy RRing!
Right on..... made me want to head out to pick up some cranberry juice... - lol 😂🤣😂
😂😂😁
glade to see the old RR is still running and loving the switchback relay track.
Thank you. I have been building and improving it for 18 years.
Always enjoy your videos . When i retire in 2 years i plan to start my outside railway . Thanks for always answering my questions .
Thank you. I say why wait until you retire? Start small now to get a train running and then you can expand in your retirement years.
🏆
Amazing layout, you're so fortunate to have it .. must have taken years to build 😎
Thanks, I am, and it did. 😁
Super paint job ...love it 👍👍👍
Thank you.
Love the crew. Thanks for sharing
Always enjoy watching your videos . Would love to have a layout like yours . Is your track all electric powered or are you running battery ? Thanks
Thanks! Everything you see in this video is track powered but the GP30 has a switch to make it either track or battery RC with Revo control. I also have 2 other battery powered engines but the majority of my roster is track powered.
Brilliant work and terrific fun. Thanks!
Are they gonna become "Bread & Butter Pickles" or "Dill Pickles" or another variation??
Ha! They will probably be the bread and butter type. 🙂
Nice selection of music and timing. At first I thought they’d tie down the cargo but it didn’t seem to rattle too much.
It was a gamble in not tying it down because if one of those big cukes shifted it could have tipped the car and derailed the train. That would have made for an exciting video😃
Hilarious having the loading crew there to do the hard work!
What size curves? Are they 8 feet?
Yes, those are 8' diameter curves.
Brilliant video and layout. Well done
Thank you and Happy RRing!
Excellent follow up video..
Great camera work as always. 🏆
