    I trained to split for about 4 months without seeing a video or a trainer (all by myself) and now I can split. And it feels so good when I say that I trained for it all by myself at home !
    When I watched this video I found out I was doing 80% the same methods u do.

    Note that all of the stretches (butterfly, etc) shown in the ballistic part were dynamic the way you did them. A note, too, on the claim that stretching prevents injury; this is a myth. Stretching increases the ROM which means that your have more range before any injury happens but does not prevent it.

    Hi GNT. I'm 52. Started Martial Arts 4 1/2 years ago. I am more flexible than when I started, but getting a nice high side or round kick has been elusive. Thanks for this advice and I'll definitely check out Kurz.

    I recently got one of those leg stretch machines to help me get my box splits. Before anyone calls me out for being stupid enough to buy one of these expensive machines, I have a bad hip issue that my doctor is working on better solutions for, but at the moment I need this device because at around 50% of my actual current range of motion I encounter an insane, ridiculous amount of pain. With the machine I can ease in and out of this excruciating position in the most delicate manner for when it hurts (only when in a particular range, not before or after), so I can actually achieve a proper, real stretch.
    I am currently training for pre-arranged competition in October (World Cup in Budapest) and determined to have box splits by then (and hopefully a vastly improved hip). I've currently been doing the PNF stretching approach, but I've been doing it every day while watching TV to distract me a little. I've been using tape to mark progress and it has been improving but am I doing too much? Should I drop down to 2-3 times a week or is it okay to keep going daily until I perhaps hit a plateau and then drop down to less days?

    I'm starting to get better in splits with 3 simples things:
    1. keep the form right;
    2. pointing the toes so it reliefs a little the knee
    3. flexing and relaxing leg muscles while on the stretch. I don't hold too long the flex, but alternates with relaxing every 1-2 seconds and it's really helping

  • @Wesleyplayzminecraft
    @Wesleyplayzminecraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    With your side leg raises you weren't turning your back foot. So your hip wasn't turned all the way so it was an improper side leg raise. So it would be a less powerful side kick.

    Really practical. Seems like ballistic stretching is pointless given dynamic gives that benefit without as much risk. Passive stretching seems to be as heavily based on balancing as it ability to reach that particular position. Deep rubbing between stretches also helps in my experience with the heavier static and isometric stretches.

    • @GingerNinjaTrickster
      @GingerNinjaTrickster  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair point until you actually use ballistic within PNF at an advanced stage in stretching. Always keep an open mind and good luck with your training :)

    6 dynamics to losen things upp, then "one" pnf with the static held untill the stretch feeling starts to fade, about 40-50 sec. Thats it. Then 2 days of rest. I have tried a lot of shit and it all have made me sore with little progress. This minimal aproach makes me progress the best....almost in the splits now....

    Friend of mine and I do PNF stretching after TKD class since we're both more stiff than we want to be. (And we're good and warmed up after class) We've been doing a seated split stretch (other person pushing down), butterfly (other person pushing knees) trying to loosen the hips up a bit. Are there any other positions you'd recommend we could do that would help with hip rotation for high round kicks and hook kicks?

    Hey! At @5:00. is that enough to help us achieve the 540º's flexibility needs? And how about a vídeo series telling us about the physical needs of the hard kicks and tricks? it would be very helpful, cuz without those preparations we maybe get kinda frustrated doing everything right and still failing by something that hás nothing with the forms and all (Sorry this rusty english!) :D

    always impressed by flexibility. Djokovic, McGregor, Van Damme, I'm envious of you guys who really have this flexibility.

    i recently found your channel and thought it was pretty cool. I've been training in ITF Taekwon-Do for many years now but have a few weaknesses i was hoping you could give some advice on. first, my stretching/kicking flexibility is good, but id like to improve it so that it is great. any tips? also, my greatest weakness has always been my hooking kick. i usually twist my body too much, end up kicking upwards, etc. how can i perfect this kick?

    I have a question... How many times during your training do you stretch, and for how long do you stretch ? From start to end of the stretching-session, that is.

    • @GingerNinjaTrickster
      @GingerNinjaTrickster  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the session. Rough guides are in my stretching Q&A :)

    I have a lot of hip pain especially in an 45 degree angle of my upper body to the ground when attempting a split or even when attempting a normal turn kick.. thats really annoying and keeps me from getting better. Feels like a dagger is beeing thrusted in my hip joints. This is not normal right? My teacher says im just doing the kicks wrong

      Can't fully judge but I would say it sounds like it's down to flexibility or technique.
