  • Today we picked more tomatoes out of the high tunnel, Then I get into talking how to make money grown tomatoes. The 1st most important thing is you have to find your market, Then pricing, Growing methods, then demand. We sell lots of tomatoes farm, we sell 1500 to 2000 lbs of tomatoes a week. Spread through different farmers markets.

    We got our high tunnel through a grant too, but hurricane winds came through and ripped it to shreds a few years later. in 2019, we re-built it and used it for my wedding reception before getting it replanted in the fall. :) Thank you so much for your practical wisdom. We're going to try and sell tomato plants this year.

I’m 22 and have been dying to get into farming since I was 16, I love plants more than anything, idky 😂 I just love plants. it’s hard for young people to get into farming unless you where born into it. I finally got some land in Oklahoma and am gonna start growing and see how it goes

    It sounds like a family effort. Like the storage, warehouse, equipment, ect.. you are a hard working man who is making the place happen but also a very lucky man to have such a great base to start with. Looks like tomatoes can be a great business! Im very jealous

    I just started my first garden this year and its going very well so far here in to july. Mostly tomatoes some cucumbers and peppers. But i love growing tomatoes id love to somehow make a business like you have going. This first garden was a good start just 20 tomato plants purple cherokees, big boys, and some cherry tomatoes.

    Super stuff as normal. Glad you explained a little more on the background and history of this set up. That’s a great 👍 harvest rating for the toms and as you day you pay for the quality. Obviously I grow for myself, family and friends but I also pass on produce to others and they donate for the various charities I believe in such as cancer research etc keep up the good work cheers 🍻

    I've never had good tomatoes in the usa always to wattery imo. Only tomatoes I like are the ones that people get seeds from Belarus and plant them in their back yards, much more solid and flavorful.

    How do you keep bugs off of your field tomatoes? We want to do organic, so anything natural would be best for us.

      High brix levels, sealed indoor/greenhouse with controlled environment, and there's usually organic insect and bug spray, you can also get natural predators for whatever you're trying to get rid of.

    Thanks for the video, I sub'd, I like to grow tomatoes but we get hot here Zone 9, 90 to 115 degrees for 4 months 30% humidity, I am thinking about doing some shade structure.

    the people probably want sweet corn too! especially this time of the year! used to see these stands on the sides of the road farmers sold them direct to people driving but you have to find a good location that cops or state highway workers wont kick you off

    I sell mine 1.25lb all day everyday. The reason anything more is too expensive is most people who buy bulk are buying for canning. If its cheaper to buy double the amount at superstore already canned people don't buy them here.

    Like most younger business people they completely forget to include cost. Labor is your number one cost. I can guarantee you don't grow your tomatoes for 20-30 cents a pound. I love the channel.

      if you do the labor yourself it is indeed free. Sure time costs something but all it costs is what youd rather be doing so no monetary cost.

    Are you able to grow the same variety of tomatoes year after year in the same ground. Reason I'm asking is normally when growing crops you rotate what you are growing so that you don't have problems with pests and diseases.
    You are doing a great job there as well as putting up videos in your channel.

      You can send off soil samples and find out exactly what dry amendments you need to add. That’ll prepare the soil to exactly what a tomato plant needs
