I don't get why people try to place Logan in the DoFP timeline. That timeline is gone. I mean, wasn't that the point of Wolverine going back? To change the future? I think it is safe to assume that history has gone down a different path so everything is possible.

Dunno if it's been mentioned here, but Stephen Merchant actually got a bit of stick for his role as Caliban in Logan from the British public. See he recently shaved his head for a role related to a cancer charity, except now it looks like he was just keeping his head shaved after filming a bald character in Logan. I'm not necessarily judging one way or the other, but thought it was an interesting little story!
I think the plot to Logan will go like this... 1) scientist behind weapon X tries again and accidentally creates legacy virus that wipes out or de powers most mutants. 2) Reavers replace the Hulks and or Kingpins role in Old Man Logan, having a personal grudge against Logan because of the arm and believing man must evolve by cybernetics not the X gene. they are partially responsible for the genocide of a potion of the mutants and maybe non cyborg humans. 3) X-2 is taking the place of Hope in a twist on the Messiah Complex arc. that's How Mr. Sinister plays into all this. X-2's DNA is key to saving the mutant race. his goal will be to take her back in time to the 90's before everything goes wrong so he can ensure she can protect Scott and Jean so they can have baby Cable one day. or maybe she will be Cables mom instead one day and Cable is the only time traveling history reseting charachter to come. 4)Mr. Sinister will have healing powers but not because of Apocalypse but because he got them from experiments with Logans blood...or X2's...or Maybe he's secretly the first healing factor mutant they got their genes from cause he's Wolverines dad he can't remember.
So out of 9 X-Men films (including Logan and not including DP), only 4 are actually important. Maybe they will send X-23 back in time at the end of 'Logan' to the 90s to try and stop the virus. That way they can put her into the 90s X-Men movie.

Transformers, I'm not even going to bother. Because, instead of having a movie that focused on the Transformers, their conflict and lore/mythos, we have contradicting information, and poor human characters. As for SWs, I do think Whedon could do it, but personally, i'd love to see him do something with either Rogue or Wraith Squadron. Imagine, A top gun, meets Dirty Dozen inspired SWs film. Whedon can do group dynamics very well and establish characterization and motivations within a group and individually. He does tend to overely on dialogue and killing characters, but for what it is worth I think he could do a great SWs film.
for the x-men continuity you need to add the ripple effect for the new timline to work but now logan is coming out it could screw it up but hopefully Cable fixes the timline again.

At the end of DoFP it shows the new future Wolverine created in 2023 so Logan is technically in the new DoFP time line unless proven otherwise
