No joke the original concept for Robocop 2 was to have Murphy wake up 200 years in the future in a glossy techno Detroit and given a female AI assistant in his mind. Robo was treated like an old-fashioned robot who the criminals didn't take seriously to their misfortune. This fits the description of that script to a tee!

We kinda see that already in RoboCop 2. Cain is essentially a brain with a stem surrounded by chrome and metal and circuitry, he is basically Smasher in 2077.

I want this alternative prologue and chapter 1. So much better than the ones we got, which were awesome already.
The first trailer from Cyberpunk I thought we could play as a baddas cop like that one from the teaser.
It was kind disappointed that your character would be restricted to be mercenary punky guy.
@@Joao-ur7ey well, the game did go through changes prior to release.such as removing dual wield along with interactive cutscenes. However, the disappointments didn't entirely ruin my enjoyment. I do admit to being unhappy with how they handled player full nudity. Mainly, because it ruined my immersion. Full nudity in the inventory screen but forced to wear cyborg crotch when not wearing clothes outside the inventory... was very immersion braking for me. I suspect there are pc mods that fixed that issue, but i have the xbox one version of the game. don't have a pc powerful enough to play it, unfortunately.
Imagine if in the Cop playstile you get to choose what kind of cop you become, a lawful or lawless cop, merciful or brutal.

It's kinda amazing how well RoboCop fits in Night City. On the other hand, both settings are about cybernetically altered humans in a dystopian, near future so I guess it's somewhat expected the two would mesh quite well. But still, I didn't think it would be THAT well.

Seeing Smasher on his knees beaten by a cyborg that identifies as human is the least humiliation for him. With Arasaka either broke or under new less bond-villain-style management, he loses his corporate protection and needless to say out of a job. He's back to square one; treated like the common criminal he used to be with a textbook cop reading his MIranda rights (what little he deserves). Imagine how many "life" sentences he'll serve?

Yorinobu is actually the least bondesque Arasaka, the guy is basically Johnny Silverhand but born in the imperial family. Hell he wants to completely dismantle Arasaka to destroy his father's legacy. This is something the game doesn't tell you very explicitly unless you read all shards

For some reason I actually see RoboCop is something part of cyberpunk and fits extremely well

I believe original Robocop was indeed of cyberpunk genre. So nothing too out of place.
I have a mod that adds the Robocop OST as a radio station and it really fits. With all the NCPD missions sometimes it does feel like a robocop game.

Following the rules in the face of violence and temptation, even when you have the strength and authority to get away with breaking them, is the difference between a good cop and a bastard cop.
Robocop totally fits in the world of cyberpunk. There needs to be a Robocop like dlc for the game. If not then at least throw in some Robocop easter eggs and stuff. Like maybe his gun, or something.

No kidding. If you haven't watched the documentary on the first film, I suggest you do so. It's insane how much work Peter Weller put into the roll.
Its funny how well this fits. With all the chrome implants available in Night City, Robocop fits right now. He's like Adam Smasher, except lawful good.
Both are more machine than man; but it's curious how Adam rejects his humanity and still keeps feelings like cruelty and anger; while Murphy, even though his behavior is more like a robot, he clings to the human part inside of him.

This is ACTUALLY TRUE considering Adam Smasher is a dark mirror of Robocop, if he had been the weapon the corporation wanted and was loyal outright. Like Robocop he is mostly machine (except he merely kept his brain instead of both Brain and Heart) but is so UNRELENTINGLY EVIL he is ironically exempt from Cyberpsychosis because fucker was bereft of Humanity to start with...
This makes me think Arasaka was attempting to mass produce Adam Smasher type cybers. Imagine that.

A classic cyberpunk character who fits perfectly in a new cyberpunk game only tells you Robocop's design is art.
I know that many people believe that RoboCop wouldn't be able to fight against Adam Smasher, and for good reason, but I like to think that in the 30+ years since his creation/resurrection (The original RoboCop takes place in 2043 and this takes place in 2077), RoboCop received some extensive upgrades to his hardware and software, far beyond what he was originally.
Agreed.. like in the RobocopVSTerminator comic. Besides, Robo fought and defeated RoboCain.. who was more powerful and faster.. but Robo is Robo.
Robocop is the hardware, but Murphy is the mind and soul. You can't measure a hero by his tech.

The game is okay... but selling and advertising it as being a true representation of cyberpunk 2020 the RPG is pure lies and a con.

Yeah, looking at Adam smasher and robocop side by side, both had their bodies destroyed and became cyborgs. Only difference is Alex despite what OCP wanted still retained his humanity and had a duty as an officer. Where's Adam had no honor and rejects his humanity, and take any mission that'll involve death.
Cyberpunk could've leaned into being a corrupt or at least morally grey police investigator. no, not the quests you get wher you're just a ride along, no, not the ability to *steal* a police car and chase bounties any other gonkhead could get. It would've been cool to be in an entire policework story arc.
Especially, when having a cop was a class in the original rpg
Let me see, Alex Murphy was one of the few cops that actually cared about the people. However being a good cop paints you a large target on your back in Night City.
It finally caught up to him when he came face to face with Adam Smasher due to a setup by a corpo he was tracking down.
Arasaka scientists took Murphy’s demise as an opportunity to test out a new product…The Robocop a living machine designed to carry out orders with efficiency and without question…
However no amount of Chrome could keep his humanity from resurfacing….
If you think about it, Murphy might probably be immune to cyberpsychosis. He's 90% machine and his heart and brain is the only human in him yet he still grasps to his humanity since it's the only thing he has left after losing everything.

I'd like to think Omni Consumer Products had a beef with Arasaka's Adam Smasher so they wanted to use Murphy's desire for revenge for Adam Smasher killing him as motivation for to test their superior cybernetics.
Unbenounced to Omni, Dick Jones joined Arasaka after his Ed-209 protect was canned and took some of the schematics for the Robocop project that let Arasaka upgrade Adam Smasher and make their own Ed robots.
However Bob Morton hid some of his secrets of the Robocop project before he died and the new Arasaka Minotaur's are made cheaper then their Ed predecessors.

I’ve worked doing video editing and effects, and worked with some people who were considered top level in the industry. So I’m not exaggerating when I say this but the time you put in, the quality of your work, and the creativity of these edits combined together is unreal.

Small detail: Originally, the idea behind Cyberpunk 2077 was that you'd be playing a Max-Tac officer and take out Cyberpsychos. Naturally, it was scrapped because it was too similair to the witcher and it didn't fit the 'cyberpunk' experience they wanted to make. Robocop is like the slowest Max-tac cop ever but he does resemble what such a playthrough would look like. Good job Eli

This will never happen, but I would love to see a sequel to the original trilogy with Peter Weller (for just the voice obviously, the guy is 75 years old), but it takes place like a 100 years in the future, in a blade runner type of setting where robocop is considered a relic from the past, I don't know, that video made me want to see that

As I recall the bluish hue wasn't well received by people. After 2, no one ever used it again in any live action iteration. Personally I never thought it was a problem, but I was just a kid, and it was Robocop so I didn't even care.
I always noticed that the Robocop 2 suit had a more bluer tint compared to the first Robocop suit which appeared more grey with some blue

Imagine Murphy vs Adam as like the fight with RoboCain in Robocop 2. Adam's faster, stronger, and better equipped, but Murphy's clever enough to figure out how to work around his disadvantages. Like, he targets and disables Adam's Sandevistan, or gouges out some of his weaponry with the data spike. Adam may fight like a machine, but Murphy fights like a man, and that's what Adam would underestimate. Could even explain why V took him out so easily: he'd've been in the middle of some extensive repairs.
My first explanation is Cyberpunk 2077 being a hastily published beta version of what should have been. The realistic way to beat Adam Smasher without hacking is to target his exposed cords something Murphy is way past qualified with his super accurate targeting systems.
This video should have started with Adam Smasher fucking up Murphy and then ended with Robo-Cop zeroing him.
Hearing the OG tunes and remembering the EXACT scenes that were used from 'Robocop' is beyond nostalgic.

Robocop maybe an old relic of the past, but he still kicks ass like always has doesn’t matter what year he’s in, he can still be upgrade for more capabilities of fighting crime.

Wow, the Arasaka mech looks almost exactly like ED-209! It fit perfectly. It's a shame you couldn't cheat a little and have it give the famous, "You have 10 seconds to comply!" line in its booming bass voice.

There's a new RoboCop game incoming. Hopefully it's awesome.
The original Robocop went all in on the cyberpunk setting. It might not have had the neon and the skyscrapers but it was very much about corporate power and the dissolution of jobs in a city and what happens when a place that's too big to fail...fails.
An effective reboot probably wouldn't change that much except for the fact that everyone has cellphones and communicates with emails. It wouldn't even work to set it in Detroit, since the trends that made Motor City a good setting for the original Robocop have progressed far enough that Detroit is now a post-industrial city that didn't figure out how to replace industry or retain anything like its population numbers from its heyday.

Because they are the same universe basically, Robocop influenced all these other works and games. It is a corporate dystopia with out of control violence, consumerism and satire. Even a ED-209 clone in 2077. Dredd universe is pretty similar too.

Murphy aka Robocop would be the walking tank in Cyberpunk. He has survived hits from heavy machine guns and explosions. In Robocop 2. Murphy was captured and torn apart by cultists but it took industrial tools. Murphy was also chained to a table at the time. So cyberpsychos would have a hard time cracking his armor. His Auto 9 would need an ammunition upgrade. But give him a Corba Assault Cannon for dealing with tougher criminals and cyberpsychos.
Funny how Adam Smasher is basicallly evil version of Robocop.
