    Thanks for clarifying the “fives”. I had no idea about this series of pro “sleeper” saws and that they’re basically the same as their counterparts. This helped me in my decision to buy. I was originally going to buy a 562 but got a great deal on a 565 for basically the same price as the 562.I liked the idea of the 572 platform but making power with less RPMS and the second generation autotune. The autotune seems spot on and the saw exceeded my expectations.Thanks Walt and Bob for your contributions to the saw hobby!

    I bought my 555 in 2017 and I absolutely love it! It has all the power i need for most applications, I also have a 371 and 288 for jobs that require extra grunt but I don't like lugging them around all day for firewood duty. That's where the 555 beats them ,it's just easier to work with when doing firewood. Thanks for making a point on the odd ball 5 series 👏 👍

    • @spike6020
      @spike6020 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's right Ron. The saw doesn't need to have an XP decal to handle the job.

      I can say that ive gotten into the idea of the odd numbers as well, first saw was a 445xtorq, 2nd saw is a 365, and now my 3rd saw is a 394. Which i think im really going to enjoy since it doesnt have the high top air filter cover like the 395 does. So of my 3 saws, only 1 says its actual cc's in the numbers, all the rest are rated higher.

    Thanks guys, another great discussion.. In this video Bob points out that the 545 has an easy start mechanism that can be fit to the 550xp. I have a 550 Mk I and tried this. I ordered the starter assembly for $20 and installed it on the starter cover and that went fine. However, when replacing the cover\starter assby on the saw, it wouldn’t seat correctly without binding. The problem is with the 550 Mk I’s starter pawls. The 550’s are flat and the 545’s are bent at a right angle. So, if you have a 550 Mk I and do this conversion, just know to order the 545-pawl kit at the same time you get the new starter assby.

    Wow, who knew so many? I have two Huskies since 2004, so endurance and reliable starting are as important as power is to me. A chain sharpened for the saw I use is more critical than the horsepower and I like things I can work on. Sell me a strong crank and case and I can deal with the rest. KISS is my mantra; that and a hot spark! When it comes to buying a new saw (recent) I rely on my dealer to sort this crap out.

    They could have done a better job of marketing the “fives”. Even the dealers are confused. Baileys has them listed with the farm/ranch saws and not the pro models comparing them to plastic 391s and 460 Ranchers, Really! I just bought a 565 and love it. I was originally going to buy a 562 but I got a 565 for the same price so why not. I actually like that it makes power with less rpm and I think it will last longer than a 572.

    So great looking saws all around, if I’m wanting a 60cc saw and price aside why am I wanting to pick the 555 over the 562xp? Just curious as it seems like allot of trouble for them to produce two saws that are so similar. Those 5 models are very intriguing is the power band wider and less peaky?

      New 372's are a "reliability" upgrade for sure, they sorted them out pretty well. The 572 is a few bucks more and much more "solid", bigger bearings and just another generation ahead. Great saw. Autotunes take a little bit of learning to understand but once u are familiar its tough to go back to conventional. The advantage of the new 2021 372 is you are familiar with them, and all the tweaks that work on those still do. Can really hot rod them. A 572 is "right" out of the box. So its really what you want. More of what u have with a more "developed" 372 or Autotune with a pretty advanced and robust saw. Another one to put in the mix is a 565, Less up front than either one and another real solid 70cc option. Focus on reliability vs. pushing the edge in performance.

    My 20” Stihl 391 melts through logs th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 but I find myself grabbing this Oregon more because it’s quit and theirs no engine maintenance. You still need to maintain the chain and bar though. It cuts great even though it doesn’t have the power or weight of a gas saw, and the bucking spikes work really well, almost too well actually. I actually burnt up the motor on my first one using the bucking spikes. I pushed it too much through cottonwood, but I liked it enough to buy a second one. I make sure not to get the motor too hot now and it’s been running great. It’s still heavy enough with enough power to melt through most cuts too. When it stops cutting so well make sure there aren’t wood chips stuck in the chain and don’t let the chips clog the saw. Remember when you see sawdust instead of chips it’s time to sharpen the chain. I tried the self sharpening, I didn’t think it worked that well. I like that when you let go of the trigger the chain stops almost immediately. It’s tool less adjustment and bar removal is a snap. Like all saws they leak bar oil, so don’t store it full, and open the cap just a little to prevent pressure from ambient temperature changes. I store it on a piece of cardboard on a tote lid to contain any mess. Make sure you get some bar oil with the saw, it comes with just enough for you to start cutting but run out before you’re finished with whatever you’re cutting.

      I guess my first reaction is why leave a perfectly good 346 and 365 behind. But since you are tuned into the community and will care about performance / perceptions, the 562 is best. If just makin money is the concern , reliability a big factor as well...555. How is that? Why is Husky building companion saws? Is it to bridge price gaps?

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That maybe a reason, but also those are "toned down" a bit and for block and tackle production saws or tree service saws for a crew, cost less; have the same higher end internal components. You can argue as a result should last a little longer. SO a business might actually see a economic advantage. Say they are buying ten saws for a highway department. at 100 per saw, that's 1000 bucks. And "production" isn't a factor on the highway "tree crew" but the saws life expectancy might be. Where the xp is more focused on the situation production over life expectancy and initial cost IS the driving factor. And the funny thing is the hobby type will never get it, and the pro from his perspective will never egt the pro with the "other" priority set. Why the free market exists. Me? I think a 565 is the perfect blend of price, torque, speed, and durability over the 100 dollar more 572. See what I mean? If I articulate that, there will be a gazillion hobby cookie types who would attack that position.

      @@afleetcommand I see what you are saying.
      Fleet saws are built at a price and work like a Husky Rancher. They have to be as tough as a Russian military hole puncher because the users don't know the difference between a bar and blade.
      Pros are making money with their saws and as long as the paper is in their pocket, they keep buying what works. They don't want to fiddle with the saws. Rip the cord, cut trees, get paid.
      Then on the other side is the hot saw hotshots, who only care about racing. They will blow up 5 saws just for tenths of a second on a cut. Rip the cord, cut cookies, and..... you can fill in the blank.
      2 different camps with 1 thing in common: they know how to spend money.
      I appreciate Spike's and your knowledge. I especially like your opinion on, "will it put wood in the truck". You guys examine the in and outs of harvesting firewood and how there are many ways to do it with many different saws. I gravitate towards Farmer Jones or junk pile builds myself.

      yeah, I hear that type of thing regularly. Is it a first gen or mk 2? If it's a MK2 do a field tune. I have a video showing how done a year or two ago. Any one can do it and it makes a huge difference. The first gen 550's had a bunch of issues. And some had cylinders build in China as well that had issues. Common t see flywheel side seals fail. If it's a first generation still try a field tune, if not go on Facebook, join the "Husqvarna Autotunes Only" group and either work with someone to fix it or sell it. I'll give you $100 if it's dead and complete. Of course I also get a lot of stuff like this from those just trying to generate hate towards something they don't understand and don't actually have. I get more of those than the real thing. Once in a while these are real...so your response will let us all know.
      If it's new, there may be a warranty issue, so bring it back to your dealer.
