Speaking personally, I’ve struggled with depression for most of my life, and had an eating disorder for decades. Going mostly carnivore has been so healing for me! I feel a sense of calm, and I’m able to think more clearly and put things in perspective. It’s like the clouds have parted, and I’m finally able to see the sun, metaphorically speaking. Thank you both for helping to get the word out about the importance of diet as it relates to mental health.❤

Dr. Ede is the real deal. Her book is excellent. You don't have to be carnivore. She will teach you a range of dietary patterns that can improve your mental health.

True. But I would rather be 100%. Anything less than carnivore is settling for less than your full potential.

What an amazing topic to cover! I have been Carnivore for 4 years now. I have healed my crippling anxiety and depression and have been able to come off my SSRIs and stayed off them for over a year now. I also completely reversed my Fibromyalgia symptoms and after being in a wheelchair for almost 9 years I am able to walk several miles a day! Carnivore is AMAZING! (So is Keto/Ketovore for those who can actually tolerate lactose and plants)

It seems to me that the low carb eating healed your fibromyalgia. The physical relief led to the reduction in anxiety and depression. That is the low carb addressed the root cause of your illness rather than masking something.

We misunderstand medical conditions because doctors are owned by insurance companies and big pharma. A GP is forced into a "20 minutes to diagnosis" mentality by insurance companies. Then, they are compelled to prescribe what big pharma recommends. Big pharma almost always treats symptoms rather than causes.

I eat meat and low histamine fruit and vegetables due to having histamine sensitivities. I eat low carb due to blood sugar issues. I seemed to feel better when I took and amylase supplement. I'm 60 years old and I recently figured out that if I eat low carb and low histamine I don't feel as hypoglycemic and I don't get brain fog. My own doctor has no clue what is wrong with me.

@@barblacy619 I feel hypoglycemic then I get brain fog. I have felt hypoglycemic since childhood then recently I read that histamines affect cytokines and cytokines can affect blood sugar. I started getting brain fog within the last year. If I avoid histamine food I feel less hypoglycemic and I don't get brain fog. No doctor in 45 years made the connection between feeling hypoglycemic and cytokines.

Eating keto is socially very difficult, which is hard on a person struggling with mental health. Example: almost every social celebration is done with heavy carbs...retirement cake, birthday cake, wedding cake, office donuts for the break room, beer and pizza after the soccer win, Christmas cookies, Halloween candy. We use carbs as social grease. Now, tell the person struggling with depression to give up "social grease". I have nearly 20 years of low carb/sometimes keto experience, and the "anti" social act of declining carbs a thousand times is very difficult.

Agreed. In those situations I've found no choice but to embrace being the "freak", and be the "inspiration". People can't always see how much better my mental health is, but they can definitely see how im not a fat@$$ anymore. They compliment me and then I segue into how much better my mood and ADHD symptoms are, etc. They tell me they lack the discipline to follow my diet and then I reassure them that it's not all or nothing, and that if they feel good then don't worry about it. Same with alcohol.

I was commercial keto (so much almond flour and lots of low starch veggies) for almost 5 years and it helped a bit, but it is shocking how stark the difference was when I went to carnivore. It's also shocking how different even spice and herb carnivore is from Beef, salt, and water. However, if I've not been super strict for a bit, I do oxylate dump as soon as I go clean. I did a sardine fast after a vacation and I could barely walk my bones ached so bad. Then I tapered a very small amount of chocolate down to zero to stop the dumping.

If some one has been suffering from some physical problems for years or decades they will have a low mood. This is healed by dealing with the physical issues . In my case low carb seems to be working.

I wonder if anyone might be able to answer this question. I hear Dr. Ede saying most people should think about giving up dairy because of the proteins, would ghee be included in this? I make my own ghee and from research, I know that the lactose (the protein most of us can no longer digest) is removed when turning butter into ghee. Would it then be safe to consume this particular type of dairy now that it is lactose free? Thank you for this interview and all of the valuable information.

Not to mention that eating only grass-fed beef will bankrupt most people. There's an economic reason why rice, beans, potatoes, and noodles are half the plate in most countries.
