Between this and the new "dresskx" shows that Seiko 5 still is a great entry point for new watch enthusiast. Also great beater watches for most everyone.
Good review. I have the SRPG39 model, which I think makes a great "go anywhere do anything" type of watch. It hasn't quite fully scratched that Alpinist itch though.. Keep your reviews coming please!
I received my srpg27 about three weeks ago, I am amazed at how acurite and consistent this watch has been. I haven’t had to adjust the time more than once. overall I consider this my most reliable watch.
Great review bud! These are definitely some handsome looking 5s... A great entry piece into the brand. Some nice upgrades at a great price. This blue is cool but the whole release has some cool dial opinions.
While I have more expensive watches, the Seiko five series hold a happy fascination for me due to their value- price ratio and their robust reliability. I like the day/date feature as well. The two I already own are pleasing enough designs, but I don't wear them often because of two main reasons: Very cheap bracelets and not being wind-able or hack-able. I don't seem to move enough to keep these running for more than a few days, meaning having to reset them constantly. Then along came this new series of fives with the 4R36 wind-able movement. 100 m water resistant, domed crystal. Now I don't consider this more accurate than the 7S26c, however, it is also hack-able. So that is one objection taken care of. The better bracelet, being a real improvement, takes care of the second objection. I get such a kick to wear this AUD $249 no worries timepiece, and don't have to worry about services and parts and the difficulty of dealing with the likes of Rolex or Omega and other expensive marks. Spare parts for some of these are not obtainable
For myself, if you kept it the same but added GMT function, diver ruggedness/screw down crown, loomed the numbers & make the five minute ticks a bit bigger, and something along those lines would be my dream combination of features. Needless to say I like it. Lol! I love divers and field watches most because I have a utilitarian taste in watches, for the most part anyway. Lol. Best wishes to you and your family. ✌️🇺🇸
I purchased a srpg27 with manual. A little top heavy but overall, I like it. Also the 1 rolled link bracelet out performs itself if you don't mind it being rolled. But feel and look, you would never guess it was 1 link instead of two
At last this has the newer movement, I had the previous incarnation (snzg) the lack of hand winding was too much to keep it. It was a lot cheaper though…
These are great watches for the price. Good all around size for a variety of wrists as well. But the perfect automatic watch? For me it’s missing a sapphire crystal, screw down crown and a better bracelet (Seiko 5 is folded links). I’d pay extra for one of the 38mm Alpinist models. Perhaps a great first automatic watch or for use as a “beater”.
I've paid about 75 dollars for a San Martin 38 mm with Seiko 4R, sapphire and a screw down crown. The lume and finishing are also better than on my 500 dollar Seiko. I hold on to my old Seiko's but won't be buying any new ones soon.
This kind of watch by Seiko pisses me off. Hardlex, cheap bracelet with stamped clasp and hollow end links. And how much is the asking price? 275? For the same money there are so many watches that give you so much more. I’m ok with this watch at $150.
I cant believe most cheapest automatic seiko now will be for 270$ and it will be Seiko 5....next one prospex with huge divers 45mm which are crazy big for most wrists and cost 500-600 with same movement 4r35... Seiko is no more affordable brand for everyone its sad for us fans who are not rich to buy watches 500$+ if we dont want stupid 5 logo.
I respectfully disagree on the first two points but on the last I will see. I fight fire for the forest service so we will see this summer how well the crystal holds up. If it does get scratches I will get it replaced with sapphire.
I’m glad I found this video. This is the perfect watch for me, in terms of style and case size.
Love it, great review!

I don’t think these (over)prices qualify them as entry level. Orient fills that gap nowadays.
I was between the two but I picked the dresskx

Thanks so much and I'm trying to pump out as many videos as I can😗

I hope so. I just ordered one. It is my first Seiko
how was it?
Fantastic. I gave to my Son and plan to buy another one. It will be the first watch I have repurchased.
i have the black dial version i put it on a black alligator strap and its a great daily wear watch

just bought after your review nice one

I LOVE mine. I have the SRPG31 with the dark grey face and blasted case.
I really like my srpg27 field watch and purchasing srph25 flieger next. My daily wear are Timex Expedition Scout and black Tonnier Weekender.

I'll buy one in a couple of days and will install a sapphire crystal right away.
Where are you been man? Miss all your videos. Let’s do some more. I love Seiko and Orient. Thanks Bro
More to come!
I love mine. My only worry is how it will hold up in my very rugged occupation.
I stay in equator line therfore the sunburst will look great as the sunlight is really bright.
Is there a difference between the SRPG29 | SRPG29K1? Do both Have the blue starburst dial?
Is that color lavender? blue lavender?
The previous version snzg series crown was at the 3 o'clock position too.
If they had a real suburst dial and lumed numerals like the szng17. It will be perfect.
What's your wrist size?
This reminds me of the longines spirit which is 2300$
For only a fraction of that price seiko manged to make an amazing watch
Great watch great review thanks
Excelente video 😀
Why do they need to be so thick? I'm looking for an everyday watch and this is pretty close, but it is thicker than I would like.
Seiko watches are always too thick. Good luck
Excellentes Video 😎👍
Thank you!
At last this has the newer movement, I had the previous incarnation (snzg) the lack of hand winding was too much to keep it. It was a lot cheaper though…
but why is it twice the price of other seiko 5s?
If you compare it with the new 5s with 4R movement, it's actually the same price.

waiting for my SRPG39 :)

Orient is a great option.
Give it some time the price will be sub $200 soon.
@@looseunit1615 This beats the Orient defender imo
it is $145 already here(south east asian)
Ordered a SRPG35 Japan made as my first mechanical watch:)
More videos please!
Working on it!
39 looks like a kids watch on your wrist
Overpriced

They will go down some in price over time.
It's Ok but far away from being perfect.
39mm= too small
blue in the sun= wrong color
hartlex:= not hart enough
39mm to small?38 is perfect for me.You have plenty bigger watches so you have choice.
39.4mm
If 39mm is too small, buy a clock.
