@@EthanDodd awesome! I'm sure you'll crush it. How does one get into this field with no experience in this field or a license? How much do you get payed at this job? Keep rockin :D
having surveyed for 15 years now I know I'll retire doing it. It keeps you sharp and healthy without killing your body. The history and adventure of it make it not so redundant. Always somewhere new. Or being a traveling surveyor like pipeline is also a good way to see the worst parts of the country while making bank.
Survey in Northern Ontario.. Typical day surveying in Northern Ontario in the dead of February 1.37m of snow. Need snowshoes to get around. Before setup shovel 1.2m hole around you then setup. After that every time you won't to shot a point you must dig hole to the ground then chip at the ground 5mins to possibly see the SIB take a shot. Then repeat that over again but now you must PLT SIB in the ground 1.65m frozen ground. You must snow shoes to all the points with 4 SIB on your shoulders 2 SSIB in your survey vest back pocket. But then you gotta go into the next concession line which is is 2.8 km away. Don't forget 1.37m of on the ground.
