Fitbit Sense Watch Review | Should you buy it?
The purpose of this video is to help you know if you are a good fit for the Fitbit Sense without watching 20 videos.
I am a random guy on the internet that has watched a lot of those videos for you and am trying to make it a more simple decision and save you time. I do encourage you to do your own research and feel good about your decision :)
I bought the watch, saw some disheartening reviews, looked into whether I should return the watch, and thought I would throw in my opinion to help others gain more clarity when buying or whether to keep their watch.
In this video, I describe what most people are saying about the watch and some of it's features to give you a foundation of what to expect, and then what 3 types of people that are buying smart watches and which might be a great fit for the Fitbit Sense
Type 1 - Phone Compatibility person: This person wants to essentially have their phone on their wrist. I went to say that the Fitbit Sense would not be a great fit as its goal is to prioritize health not so much communication even though it allows for calls now, whereas previous versions don't.
Type 2 - Data Scientist Person: This person wants accurate data they can use to analyze and improve their health and physical performance. I went again to say that this person would be disappointed with the Fitbit Sense and that they are better off buying specific gear and stacking them. Such as the Oura ring for sleep, Whoop for workouts, and smart watches that match their phones operating systems for communication.
Type 3 - Health Generalist Person: This person wants to lead an active lifestyle and have a general sense of their entire health at a glance. They want to know how the big picture looks and have notifications that push them towards positive health habits such as: Quality sleep and getting up early, water intake, steps, managing their stress, possibility of getting sick, tracking calorie expenditure, and things to do with their heart rate.
The 3rd type of person is the best fit for this watch and also people who have had fitbits in the past.
Thank you if you read this far :) You're the best!

having surveyed for 15 years now I know I'll retire doing it. It keeps you sharp and healthy without killing your body. The history and adventure of it make it not so redundant. Always somewhere new. Or being a traveling surveyor like pipeline is also a good way to see the worst parts of the country while making bank.

Starting in March 2023, Fitbit will remove support for the Deezer and Pandora apps, and with it there will be no ability to listen to music offline on either device. I wonder if anyone has the knowledge to tweak the firmware so that the watches can play audio files again (like the Versa 2 model), since they have 4 gigs for music.

I hate my Fitbit Sense. It thinks I've woken up at 3 or 4 am and leaves a 2-4 he gap in my total hours slept and a crappy score. Went through customer service who told me it's a software glitch and they're "working" on it, what ever that means. They asked me stupid questions like was it charged? And had I cleaned the sensing back. Duh 🙄 They would not replace it. As far as I'm concerned they have terrible customer service and the Fitbit sense is a complete waste of money. Don't give this company your hard earned money! I give it a big fat ZERO.

Thanks for the generalized review. I've avoided smart watches because I tend to carry my phone anyway and don't want notifications constantly everywhere. I used to be a watch guy until I started using some of the older Fitbit trackers, though I missed having a real watch. I liked that this seemed more watch-like than the trackers. I did order a Sense because I had a discount (defective Charge 2 out of warranty, so they offered a discount on something else), but I haven't been too impressed with the reviews of it. I don't like that it is owned by Google and I recently switched from Android to iOS, and there appears to be some gray area on what will not work with Apple phones. I'm also not stoked about Fitbit pushing the Premium membership to use the features of something I already bought. I guess we'll see when it comes. If I don't like it, they have a 45 day return policy, and I'll apply that to an Apple watch (series 7 at the moment).

Honestly one of the most helpful reviews I’ve seen. I was gifted a Fitbit charge several years ago and it recently stopped working, so I was looking to update to either an Garmin Venue 2s or Fitbit sense, but with all the complex technological information and details about all these features included in one watch or the other that I would find online I was having a lot of trouble figuring out what would work for me. I would often also see comments/reviews saying the Fitbit sense wasn’t that precise in regards to heart rate where people would make it sound like it meant that it wouldn’t even be able to give me good general metrics, making me think it wasn’t worth buying even if it is at a price that fit my budget…but after seeing this review all the confusion has pretty much be solved and I’ve decided to get the Fitbit sense. Thanks again for the fantastic review!

Thank you, Ethan!😊 I have been waiting for my Fitbit sense to arrive. I did a ton of research before and still was unsettled about my decision to go with the sense, because of all the negative reviews and imperfections. I considered seriously the Fitbit Versa 3 too, because of a good sale price right now, but still wanted the the additional readings and more hardy build cuz I am hard on my watches. Still yet, I do not want something too complicated nor do I want to be looking at my watch all the time for my calls. I even considered the aura, except I really need an actual watch that tells me the time. I am that 3rd type of person like yourself that just wants my overall health and as much as I can know about it without being crazy complicated. I just need to start working out again and I want to know how much sleep I’m getting. Nothing else seems to strike a balance to actually get good sleep data, stress readings, & exercise plus the actual time. I got the weight scale too and I like that it’s going to interact somehow with the other data. You confirmed my decision about my order & finally I have peace about my Sense order. I just wish it came in more colors.😊

I'm actually the 1st person and Fitbit is the only watch that I have used and probably will use. All my text, calls app notifications can be displayed when they come through and I don't have to dig in my pocket to get my phone out to see something. I do like the health stuff that's on there too, but that's not why I get a Fitbit watch to be honest

Survey in Northern Ontario.. Typical day surveying in Northern Ontario in the dead of February 1.37m of snow. Need snowshoes to get around. Before setup shovel 1.2m hole around you then setup. After that every time you won't to shot a point you must dig hole to the ground then chip at the ground 5mins to possibly see the SIB take a shot. Then repeat that over again but now you must PLT SIB in the ground 1.65m frozen ground. You must snow shoes to all the points with 4 SIB on your shoulders 2 SSIB in your survey vest back pocket. But then you gotta go into the next concession line which is is 2.8 km away. Don't forget 1.37m of on the ground.

Not quite sure where I would fall into on this list, but this watch has been a constant aggravation to do literally anything useful. I swear the app and interface were engineered to give me an aneurism, and even talking to fitbit staff and forum members only seems to cause more frustration and confusion on if it can actually do half the things it says. "You have to install the SPo2 watchface before it will tell you any active SPo2 insformation!" "Oh but it only records that in your sleep, so it wont show up for three nights" "then whats the point of installing the watchface that tells you a constant spo2 number if it's always a night old?" "because it shows you a current reading!" "But that guy just said it wont?" "That guys wrong! Do you see the red led blinking" when you lift the watch?" "Yes?" "Then it's working!" "Why doesnt it show me the SPo2 on the SPo2 watchface?" "It should?"

    • @EthanDodd
      @EthanDodd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Ima Tron, I can see how that is a frustrating experience. It sounds like you fall more along the lines of a Type 2 person, Data Scientist, and want features to work in real time and be accurate, so that you can get a real-time sense of your health. You might consider a different watch with a better SPo2 sensor. Thank you for your comment, I'm sure someone else will be grateful for your insight, and be better equip to make an informed opinion.

Enjoyed how you broke down each watch. Last year I upgraded from Apple Watch 2 up to Apple Watch 5. One of main reasons was that it had “hard fall”. If there is a hard impact and there is no movement for a minute, it will call your emergency contacts and/or 911. It also has health data that’s accessible to emt/er/etc… Do any of the others have these features? I would like to gift one to a friend that has Samsung phone Thank you!

Now, I was hesitating if I should buy sense or versa 3 to replace my beloved Ionic which got recalled (couldn't resist 299$ and 40% discount). In my experience; the battery is still great (bought in 14/2-2019); GPS is great and I think it's accurate to my satisfaction and never disappoints me during these 3 years. My point is I'm afraid if Sense might disappoint me (especially about GPS which received a lot of complains), but your video helps me make up my mind somehow.
