I thought Reading & Northern had upgraded its lines with CTC. Several years ago, an article appeared in Trains magazine. I did not realize the segment was dark territory. Great video. Thank you for sharing. It is nostalgic to see the code-line poles on the NS line. In Texas, it is very rare to see any trace of code-line poles.

This ride is super nice, Jim Thorpe is a great area to visit for fall foliage too so its a 2fer1 deal! Cab Rides are surprisingly inexpensive as well! Thanks for the kind words!

    Nice video!
The engineer is a bit incorrect when it comes to his history though. That bike trail is former CNJ. The active tracks are all former Lehigh Valley except at the beginning of the video which is former CNJ. The Pennsy never entered the valley at all.

I have a suggestion where you should go to pittston and chase the PILE that runs at night

Are those last 2 cars on the train (In front of the caboose) former Lackawanna Cars?

is there certain measurements on blowing the whistle or horn which is why I'm hearing #5014,clear for 20,over the radio and are those radio cab announcements event for the freight railroads like Northfolk southern ? just asking, because i want to become Diesel Freight Train engineer one day, right now I'm working at Ability Solutions over in West Depford,N.J.

+Mark Cinque I believe the "Horn Measurement" is Two longs One Short One long, As the for the "Radio announcements yes they are a normal thing more specific to switching operations though. That is an awesome dream my friend, Best of luck to you!

where I'm at now at Ability Solutions over in WestDepford,N.J. compared to how hard i actually do work, some of my other co-worker's goof off and think it's a playground, but as for me I'm the opposite there i work my butt off and i get paid onece every 2 week's per pay period and i get paid around $100.00,$200.00 i want a real job as a train engineer and have my own own Train cab and only here the sounds of me operating the throttle and the brakes, the pressure gauges, blowing the horn/Whistle,sounding the bell and listening to the radio inside the cab ,not some stupid kiddie job at a wear house like Ability Solutions..
