When I'm staying with relatives, who are doing quite good financially, I will still supply the house with food and pay the maid extra, because she will be cooking extra and she does my laundry.

A lot of relatives don't understand if you come and give them money to stay. You are helping them out more than they are helping you out because they didn't have the money in the first place. And you basically stayed with them to give someone you knew the money and not a stranger. Because you wasn't going to go if you couldn't afford a hotel or apartment already. A lot of relatives ruin their blessings by trying to act like you need them and they get greedy.

No, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry for you should be because they are family, and they love you. Family should serve each other regardless of compensation or not. That is a huge difference that I have seen between the Philippines and America. American families just do stuff for each other without receiving anything in return. Filipinos want compensation for EVERY SINGLE TEENY TINY LITTLE thing they do. Even if they are family, they want money. IT is really not a good thing at all and it shows the lack of love that Filipinos have with each other. It is a plastic kind of a love that is just waiting to receive something for all of their "hard work."
If you love one another, serve one another without compensation. If it's really about love, don't take even one peso from your family member for something you do for them.

I understand your persfective and views, but I guess part of our culture, sharing is "a must," and many Filipino unfortunately misunderstood this point. Plus, Filipinos have a heart of giving and sharing regardless of the situation, but unfortunately, sometimes, or most of the time, it is being taken for granted 😕

@@TheQueenofControvercy Right of course it is a must, but you shouldn't get paid for loving each other. That's not real love. Appreciate your response
