Still doesnt work. Ive updated and reinstalled the drivers. I bought a new mic and still nothing. The PC says the mic is in use but wont detect any audio input. Ive done EVERYTHING, checked the levels, mic privacy settings EVERYTHING. Why wont it work? It started right after using sleep mode. Dell XPS 8940, what a piece of crap!!!! Someone please help me I cant talk to my teammates.

@@MrExdous69 What happened to me was, I had checked the little box that says "Dont show this again" after making my headset selection, since I had selected the wrong set option I was stuck with the headphones with no mic option and couldnt get the dialog box to reappear when I unplugged the headset and plugged it back in. Reinstalling Windows reset that and I was able to make the correction. Maybe I just needed to locate the file and manually open it but I didnt think of that till after I reinstalled Win10. Mine is called WaveMaxx Audio.
I was just about to delete and reinstall a bunch of my apps to see if that fixed settings. Your instructions helped me solve my problem in 2 minutes! Thanks
Hey, I’ve discovered a solution for this issue. It turns out that some PCs lack a combined microphone and headphone jack (TRSS). If your PC has separate mic and headphone jacks (TRS), the fix is straightforward: just grab a TRSS to TRS converter, and voilà-it’ll work seamlessly!, Thank me later

oh. my. god. you saved me. twice! i fixed the issue by updating the driver on my old pc and now on my new one...this was literally THE ONLY SOURCE i found with suggestion to update driver to high definition audio and it worked(otherwise the sound was VERY quiet with all settings maxed)
idk how i disabled my mic but i did and this is the only thing that helped me get to where i needed to go to figure out how to re-enable it..thank you so much lol

My mic is JBL cslm20, it was working, but just because of changing some settings like turning on off stereo mix or something and repluging another device stopped its driver. It's pathetic how can this driver be gone for strange reasons and stop working for recording.
@@Easyclassestech sorry it again stopped working the next day. It had worked on one restart at night but next day stopped. So i again reinstalled the realtek motherboard driver, and removed and inserted the mic plug, it worked like before. My theory is that the mic wire was touching another wire of the usb phone port, i separated the two wires and perhaps that was causing the problem, it's working now two PC restart. Perhaps it will stop again and perhaps theres some problem in this JBL lavalier mic, i dnt know. I will inform u if its permanently working. When I update the driver directly from the popup of divice manager realtek mic option, then the realtek mic vanishes from the audio ports in the device manager, so we have to install it properly from the setup file itself. There is no conflict with the VirtualMeter banana. And I guess there was no problem my old generic realtek driver also, bec it would never have worked if it was bad for my pc, but since it worked for sometime for the mic means it was compatible for my motherboard.
@@Easyclassestech now i got it i think. I reinstalled the motherboard, but now i disabled the Exclusive mode in the microphone properties advance options. The mic stopped working bec perhaps another device, like midi piano etc was exclusively hijacking it. Just my assumption. Now its working.
Ok, thanks for video but I still got a problem. Thing is - I can see my mic plugged in and even when I select the "listen to this device" or something, I can hear myself from my own speakers but no one else cant hear me. This mic was working fine until it just randomly stopped working. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello. I tried method 2 and intalled a driver, however the driver showing up on me was different so i downloaded a different one than yours. But after that my microphone disappeared from devices :(
Alr i don't know if this will work for others but im on windows 11 and when you got to privacy then microphone then scroll down there is a off and on mode where desktop apps access your microphone you need it enable so on and it should work

Useless. Mine just keeps reverting back to only picking up on buzzing sounds and not on my voice whenever I restart my computer, and I'm sick and tired to have to plug in ang unplug to fix this. I require a permanent solution, because my microphone is working, but my PC won't initialise it properly.
