This channel makes a huge service to the HD community imo. It is straightforward and honest, it has history, it is informative.
My 2 cents on the pricing. In Germany the 120th anniversary paint scheme costs you 6450$ with today's exchange rate. The Fat Boy is 27K instead of the 21K you mentioned for California. Prices here are insanely blown off. In some cases they are up 2K from the 22MY.
I love both bikes for what they are. Either the Deluxe or the Heritage should always remain in the catalogue as long as HD produces internal combustion motors. The design is the pinnacle of a period that many of us have grown to love through music, design, fashion, etc. When I see the Heritage I hear "Jailhouse Rock" in my mind. It is old school badass, and that comes from a 32 y.o.
As a side note, I think people living in rainy or snowy parts love the functionality and design of the fenders, because they save from collecting dirt on the radiator and other intricate parts to clean in the bike. Now if you live in sunny places that is not a worry, so a Heritage in, say, Michigan or Wisconsin, makes perfect sense to me. As we all know, the worse the weather is, the more saddle bag space / wind protection / better lighting you need.

You're right, out here in the Midwest the Heritage is still popular. I think it makes sense to have a lighter weight touring bike alternative. I do like the blacked-out version, but I think the Heritage really shines with the chrome option. And sense the Deluxe is gone (really miss that bike), they should offer white walls to go along with the laced wheels. Just a beautiful bike.

    • @MattLaidlaw

For reals. The only way they can remedy discontinuing the road king standard is either bring it back with the 114 or chrome out the RK Special.

Heritage is definitely my favourite of the HD lineup. I live in Sweden, mostly use my bike in the city and sometimes go for a longer trips. I like that you can remove the windshield and bags easily for a nicer look in my opinion, but still have them for the longer trips when needed. And the size and proportions look good.
Oh I should mention, I don't have a Harley but one day I will and it will be a Heritage from 2018 or newer (114) ;)

Heritage Softail is by far the " Old School " staple of Harley. It is the sleeper, it does everything. And it does it well. If Harley were to promote it more it would sell faster then anything Harley offers. One ride and it's " The Bike" to buy

Heritage classic best Swiss army knife Harley has to offer in my opinion. And the classic design is just what a Harley is supposed to look like. Love mine in that deadwood green. Thinking about stage 2 tourqe cam and a saddlemen seat. Then it's basically done. I love it light enough to throw around the turns or town and good enough to travel on. Style is old school and just love the nostalgic. Get comments all the time.

The Heritage and the Fat Boy define Harley Davidson. The Heritage is as close to a classic style motorcycle as you can get, reminiscent of those Harley's from the 30's and 40's. I've got a 2003 Anniversary Heritage and Sportster. I've taken my Heritage on 4 long distance trips and couldn't have been more comfortable and I was able to carry 50 pounds of luggage with me. The Fat Boy is just a great bike and my brother loves his. You can't say Harley Davidson and not thing Heritage or Fat Boy. I'm east coast and have seen plenty of both of these bikes out there. Can't speak to the mid-west. You west coast folks don't know what you're missing. I love this anniversary color scheme, classy.

  • @dRockOhio
    @dRockOhio ปีที่แล้ว +2

Ohio here. I think the heritage is still relevant. No bias because I own one (red iron denim). I sat on an ST to get it out of my system as that is much more my demo and it wasn’t as comfortable. I’m bought it because it’s a pickup truck. It has bags to throw my stuff, I can have a tall sissy bar for looks, or I can mount a tour pack. And in all black, it looks mean. My buddies all more wonder why I don’t have a touring bike, but I didn’t want to give up the nimble feel of my triumph when I traded it. The Heritage suits all my needs. I have all the tall guy mods done, and I do light touring but it’s just as fun to beat on around town.
You really do have the best HD content on TH-cam. Keep up the good work man!

  • @recklessrt

Man, I love the look of that anniversary Heritage Classic. That Anniversary Red is killer. If I were to buy another Harley, it would be that red Anniversary Heritage or a 2022 red and black Heritage. Then I'd do a stage III on it much like Jamie's in that previous Laidlaw video. I promised I'd stop at three bikes: a 2017 Red + Black CVO Street Glide, a red 2017 Roadster(love this bike), and an El Diablo. I put a deposit down on the El Diablo in Feb of 2022 based on a rumor. At that point in time, most of the sales staff had not heard about the El Diablo. Yes, Im single and retired. Lol. I try to stay away from the local dealership since it's a huge temptation, but then again, money spent at the dealer is money well spent helping to support the guys at that local dealership. I mean, HD is afterall an American icon, even if it is run by a German.

As a Harley touring owner I feel with the 2023 releases and pricing, including the 120 anniversary models, Harley has moved fully into being a fashion brand. Not surprising given the CEO’s background, but a tough time to be a HD dealer as from a customers perspective there is no value in a HD motorcycle except perhaps the Pan America. The pricing for the PanAm may be constrained by stronger market competitive factors and its the only HD model I will consider when I change my 2020 FLHXS. Sad, but true.

Prefer the Roadking to the heritage as the heritage is more of a highway bike as it doesn't corner like the Roadking. That is just my opinion as I'm in New Zealand we need to be able to corner. Our dealership A.M.P.S has a road glide with the 131 kit in it but has a black Chrome which is simply very classy. I do like the two tone red almost like an old barn colour so a little rustic but modern at the same time. Enjoying your channel thank you. Cruser's and Pan American $2000. All touring models, $2500. I was in there Saturday and checked the prices. An anniversary Heritage solftail is about $29,900 out the door. The CVO's for last year had a $5000 dealer markup on them.

They'll be sitting on those for a long time, unless new HD owners are that stupid to pay those prices.

Loved the satin chrome look. I had hoped at the time of the release that they'd expand it to offer it with other bikes. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I've always been a big fan of the Heritage model and I'm originally from Southern California, not far from you Matt. :) This anniversary model really nailed it. I love the color, love the ox-blood coloring on the seat and bags. I like it so much I'm kinda tempted to trade my 2020 Roadglide in for it. lol

Back in ‘13 I rode a Heritage for a year. Loved the style and I had an unusual color…root beer and burnt orange (that’s what I called them; don’t know the official color scheme). It was not comfortable on long rides which is my main style of riding. Traded it in for a UL, but to this day I do miss that bike. Nothing else says classic Harley like a Heritage.

Well it sounds like $23,500 tax title license included is a good deal? Plus shipping it 400 miles to me at no charge. That’s the offer I have on the table for a fat boy anniversary. What do you all think? Should I do it? I do struggle with the overpricing but the bike IMHO is absolutely beautiful. But I could buy a 2023 triumph rocket GT for less money hahaha. I know you can’t get two more opposite motorcycles but I love both of them

Love the Heritage (and the Deluxe..bring it back)..but Harley should really adopt more of the bag (and seat) styling they used on the 2024 Icons Heritage ..the present styling of the bags on the Heritage Classic doesn't compliment the bike like it does on the Icons model.

I have the Anniversary HSC 2023, got it mid Feb, have almost 400 miles on it. Just added some LED blinker lights, heated grips, luggage rack (gloss black), crash bars (gloss black). Everything else will remain stock. Paint scheme is incredible, Ride very smooth. Mine is #553/2000.

Keep the Heritage Classic. Harley wouldn't be the same if they stopped making them. That's the bike that got me into liking Harley-Davidson.

If the Karen's really need the Fatboy wheels to be vented make the opening not visible behind the disk and pulley.
The Fatboy looks better with the spotlights and front turn signals from the Heritage.
    Definitely the original chrome.
The original silver should always be a color option.
Keep the Heritage as many who can't afford all the bells and whistles should be looking at this bike.
Bring back the handle bar style of the original Fatboy.
And changing a Fatboy is crazy buy a softail if you want pipes, 16" bars etc

I bought the Heritage aniversary edition and for what i want it is perfect I am 6 foot 220 pounds and it fits me perfectly. To me it is everything a Harley should be. It is called a Classic for a reason. Mine is number 1533 of 2000

That’s right lower Harley Davidson just can’t afford one in for those who do you have a Harley or thinking about getting one you better know how to work on it because they charge upwards of $80-$100 an hour to work on your bike not cheap it’s like we’ll see you in about cocaine I wish man tired poor man’s dream

Nobody does paint like HD, these bikes are stunning and it and are works of art, when you look at the way the body lines ,paint, seat lines just flow into one another. No other manufacturer comes even close. I would say that the Heritage model is just as iconic as the Fatboy. Here in New England they are very popular. I have 2021 Heritage Classic Deadwood Green and wherever I go someone compliments the bike. One other thing, for this Anniversary model it seems reasonable for the 1500 dollar upcharge for the paint, badging, seat details etc, You would pay a hell of a lot more than that if you brought your basic black model to a paint shop to have it done to this level. Thanks for all the videos Matt! Keep em coming-

HD can put the heritage on hiatus on the Westcoast and bring back the Deluxe all black or black-chrome no red no yellow keep all those other models in the east coast Midwest. if a guy wants one they can special order

All new Harley-Davidson are to dear for the normal Joe blows. All new bikes are too dear. So the only bikes for us normal people. The used bike market. All new bike sellers will go broke until you lower your prices. So everyone let's look second hand. The only way to go.

Hey Matt thanks for the walk around on the fat boy it looks great with the new paint job but I'm sick of Harley's not willing to sell young people a bike if the credit isn't perfect and the attidude of people in the dealerships And the repair and maintenance prices are much too high So when is Harley going to change their attitudes or do they think they can get away with this forever?
