  • @kubamatuszczak5619
    @kubamatuszczak5619 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Probably someone mentioned it already but handy tip anayway: instead of toggling the stack (Contents>Group>Path etc.) for each layer in order to reveal the nested stopwatch next to Path property you can simply type "path" in the searchbar above the Layer stack and it will reveal the property for all layers at once :)) *bear in mind that regular Shape Layers paths need to be converted to Bezier Path in order to keyframe the path

    • @gareso
      @gareso  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I believe that drawing is just a matter of study and practice, and that everyone can draw. If you want to have that skill I would recommend taking the time to study and practice a little bit every day, and be patient. Meanwhile, you can always learn cut-out animation and character rigging, which will be invaluable to you anyway. But once again, don't let a preconception (I can't draw) limit what you want to achieve 😉

    • @gareso
      @gareso  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! This only works for paths (shape layers or masks), not bitmaps. If you have a vector file (an illustrator file for example) you'd need to covert it to a shape layer before being able to edit the points like that. (Right click the layer and select "create shapes from vector file")

      That's true man, it's not easy for anyone if you are always striving to stretch your habilities :) In the end, It doesn't really matter which program you are using. With the amount of information available at the tip of our fingers, one can improve very quickly by putting in the effort and by knowing that the foundations are the most important thing to learn before (or at least at the same time) of any software or cool technique. But your workflow videos have shown how powerful of a tool it is for staging an animation.
    How important do you think it is to study traditional animation techniques for this kind of workflow?

      Well, I think I could have done everything, except for the last shot (where the character leaves) completely in After Effects. As the animation for these shots is simpler, it could have been made using shape layers only. But when the frame by frame gets more complex I don't think After effects can handle it very well. It lacks flexibility and simple tools like onion skinning, which makes the work a lot harder. I mean, you can definitely find a way to do it in Ae, I just think it would be a nightmare :P I think we should always use the best of each software in our advantage.

    Did you used some kind of reference for the walk cycle? Or what did you did to make it look so smooth, because I struggle a lot with the walk cycles

      No refence for the walk cycle. Have you tried getting the book the Animator's Survival kit? There are some great tips on walkcycles in that book.

    instead of dropping down each thing to show the path to set a keyframe, you can just search "path" in the search bar and set all keyframes that way!

    • @gareso
      @gareso  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True! I figured that out later. Way easier! I was waiting for someone to point that out :P
