What a revelation ..He was in a league of his own .. absolute natural / poetry in motion .. and like his family .. so grounded and straight up .. I never understand why people feel this need to rank players in sports and pick the "greatest of all time". It's impossible to say. You can look at a player and see greatness, but there is no way of knowing if someone else would perform better or worse in the same situation at that time. Different eras with different field conditions, different equipment, different training methods, and different teammates and opponents can not possibly all be taken into consideration to arrive at a ranking of who is the greatest. As for the man in the video, I can only say that I would not consider myself much of a soccer expert, but I am just mesmerized watching video clips of the great George Best. Far more than any other player. It seems that there was nothing he couldn't do and no one he couldn't beat one on one. I only wish that I hadn't been in grade school in America when he was in his prime. I missed something special.

I have always maintained that a great sportsman can only be as good as the era they compete in . George Best was a very good player and a great entertainer in the 1960s and early 70s . The negatives were his inconsistency on the park ( his brilliant displays were very infrequent , more infrequent than you might think ) and his ( lack of ) longevity at the very top . Do I think Pele , Maradona and Messi were better players than George Best , yes I do , but then , they probably took the game and the skills God handed them much more seriously than George did .
Not much knowledge about football here,George Best was easily the best player ever.He never had pitches like a bowling alley and never faked bad tackles.

the greatest sports man thats ever been. The lob over big pat jennings at 6.47 is just pure natural raw talent. No one else wouldv thought about doing that never mind being able to do it, then the next goal at 6.55 against gordon banks was brilliant, the defender tried to click his heels but george just rode the tackle but then some how in the same motion or movement he just side footed the ball into the roof of the net with force leaving every one saying "how did he do that there" lol he made a right fool of banks that day, again. And his second goal has banks rolling about the mud as best just walks past him after sending him the wrong way. If you look at banks he never faces the tv camera taking the ball out the net twice after best did make him look a bit daft. He walks into the net with his back to the camera

I was watching grandstand one staturday and then this old muddy pitch came on tv and i noticed big pat jennings strait away trying to punsh the balll clear becouse pat was still playing at age 38 and the ball fell to this guy with long black hair with a red strip on who then let it bounce onto his chest then drop to his foot and lobbed it over big pat and 2 or 3 spurs players on the line from 13 to 14 yards out and at an angle. I was mesmerised. I had never seen any player thinck about doing it never mind doing it. I said out loud "NO WAY NO WAY, who was that player" they 2 goals against gordon banks just makes me howl with laughter every time i see them. He made banks just look average, if that. Every time he played against him. After that maradona was the only player i admired after george best. R.I.P GEORGE and thancks !!!!!!!

He would be priceless today. We have a generation of fans who have only known Ronaldo or Messi. This guy was better than both of them . Remember he played during a time of bad pitches in the winter . Also the tackling then was sometimes brutal.

I have always maintained that a great sportsman can only be as good as the era they compete in . George Best was a very good player and a great entertainer in the 1960s and early 70s . The negatives were his inconsistency on the park ( his brilliant displays were very infrequent , more infrequent than you might think ) and his ( lack of ) longevity at the very top . Do I think Pele , Maradona and Messi were better players than George Best , yes I do , but then , they probably took the game and the skills God handed them much more seriously than George did .
Not much knowledge about football here,George Best was easily the best player ever.He never had pitches like a bowling alley and never faked bad tackles.

He would have been amazing under SAF. after 1968 champions league win, busby left , we bought shitty players that got us relegated in 1974. Which led to best leaving us at age 28!! After that he got addicted to drinking and ruined his career. Bad club management cost us a huge opportunity to catch real madrid is late 60s and early 70s. Best had the hunger and passion. He had the addiction for victory. But we couldn't give it to him. If only we had a great manager taking over after sir matt busby

the greatest sports man thats ever been. The lob over big pat jennings at 6.47 is just pure natural raw talent. No one else wouldv thought about doing that never mind being able to do it, then the next goal at 6.55 against gordon banks was brilliant, the defender tried to click his heels but george just rode the tackle but then some how in the same motion or movement he just side footed the ball into the roof of the net with force leaving every one saying "how did he do that there" lol he made a right fool of banks that day, again. And his second goal has banks rolling about the mud as best just walks past him after sending him the wrong way. If you look at banks he never faces the tv camera taking the ball out the net twice after best did make him look a bit daft. He walks into the net with his back to the camera

I was watching grandstand one staturday and then this old muddy pitch came on tv and i noticed big pat jennings strait away trying to punsh the balll clear becouse pat was still playing at age 38 and the ball fell to this guy with long black hair with a red strip on who then let it bounce onto his chest then drop to his foot and lobbed it over big pat and 2 or 3 spurs players on the line from 13 to 14 yards out and at an angle. I was mesmerised. I had never seen any player thinck about doing it never mind doing it. I said out loud "NO WAY NO WAY, who was that player" they 2 goals against gordon banks just makes me howl with laughter every time i see them. He made banks just look average, if that. Every time he played against him. After that maradona was the only player i admired after george best. R.I.P GEORGE and thancks !!!!!!!
