Making a canoe in the Ecuadorean Oriente

- Ahuano is a little town in the upper Amazon region of Ecuador, 20 km downstream from Misahuallí. We found a nice little house directly on the river bank - perfect for our plan to make a canoe.
It was not so easy to find the wood. For a really good Amazon canoe, you need three hard wood* planks of at least 7 metres length, 40 cm width, and 3 cm thickness. In practise, you look for someone with a chain saw and a piece of forest. You choose your tree, pay him 30 USD, and he will bring you the planks. But somehow, the thought of walking into pristine forest and cutting out the largest tree, hurt me.
We ended up buying some ordinary timber wood planks of 3 m length and joining them together with sheet metal and tar, as we had seen it from other canoes. This turned out to be more work: four days in total.
Our expenses:
8 planks: 20 USD
1,5 kg of nails: 9 USD
2 kg of tar: 8 USD

*Preferably a tree they call "cedro". It is a leaved tree and has nothing to do with cedar. The scientific name is Cedrela odorata.

LA EDUCACIÓN SISTEMÁTICA NO ES LO MEJOR, PERO PARA LA MAYORÍA DE LOS PEQUEÑOS ES LO ÚNICO QUE HAY, Y ESO ES MEJOR QUE NADA.

Los niños están aprendiendo directamente con la naturaleza, aprenden a adaptarse a diversos ambientes y climas, a cuidarse de los insectos y lo agreste del territorio...a, valerse por sí mismo...sin descuidar los juegos propios de niños... Mucho mejor que cualquier sistema educativo ...

Ellos no dan mucha informacion. Parece ser que son de Hungria pues en un ultimo video titulado Invierno en Hungria parecen estar alojados en la casa del padre de el.
Me parece raro que suban videos de sus aventuras pero ofrecen poca informacion. Obviamente la gente siente curiosidad al ver esos videos.

Yes, we were studying Yiddish at that time. I have a passion for Yiddish literature and music. It started ten years ago during a stay in Jerusalem. A friend took me to a stone pool outside the city. Some boys were taking religious baths in the water and when they had gone I discovered a memory stick they had left there. It contained a collection of music by Avraham Fried. That's how it began.

If you should decide on visiting our country, you should plan on a visit in the early Spring (February-March-April) when the weather here is the nicest and the fields are the greenest. The summer months here, in Israel, are unbearable and people mostly stay indoors, where it is air-conditioned. I live in a rural village (moshav) that is called "Neve Michael." The place reeks with ancient history, as does all of Israel.

A lo que vamos, no creo que la carrera universitaria les sirva de mucho, son más felices y están aprendiendo lo que no tienes idea, rodeados de la naturaleza, haciendo trabajos para la vida diaria.
Eso lo hace con sus padres vale más que la universidad
desarrollan al 100%el potencial de que es un ser humanos
