How to change the GPT partition style to NTFS in CMD?
To resolve the GPT NTFS error when installing Windows, you need to convert the GPT disk to MBR first and then, format the partition as NTFS. But how when the operating system hasn’t been installed? Here, you can use DiskPart, which is a Windows built-in utility for disk management. DiskPart is able to perform many operations including partition deletion, partition creation, GPT MBR conversion, and partition formatting once you input corresponding commands.
    1. When the GPT MBR error appears during Windows installation, press SHIFT+F10 simultaneously to bring up CMD.
    2. In the CMD windows, type “diskpart” and hit “ENTER”.
    3. Type “list” disk and hit “ENTER”.
    4. Type “select disk *” and hit “ENTER”. “*” represents the sequence number of the disk you want to convert.
    5. Type “clean” and hit “ENTER” to delete all existing partitions on the target disk.
    6. Now, type “convert mbr” and hit “ENTER” to change GPT to MBR.
    7. Type “CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=nn”. Here, nn is the size in MB, you can create any size based on your own requirement. Here, I create 60000MB.
    8. Type “FORMAT FS NTFS LABEL “SYSTEM” QUICK” and hit “ENTER” to format the partition as NTFS.
Wait a few minutes before a GPT disk and an NTFS partition get created.

Converting a computer from UEFI to Legacy (BIOS) mode can be a bit complex, and it often involves changing settings in the computer’s firmware (UEFI/BIOS) and reinstalling the operating system. Please note that this process may lead to data loss and should be approached with caution.
Here are the general steps to convert from UEFI to Legacy mode:
      1. Backup your data: Before making any changes, ensure you have a backup of your important data.
      2. Access UEFI/BIOS settings: Restart your computer and enter the UEFI/BIOS setup. The key to access the UEFI/BIOS varies (common keys include F2, Del, F12, or Esc). Consult your computer’s manual or manufacturer’s website for the exact key for your model.
      3. Change the boot mode: Look for an option related to “Boot Mode,” “Boot Priority,” or “UEFI/BIOS Boot Mode.” Change it from “UEFI” to “Legacy” or “Legacy First.”
      4. Save changes: Save the changes you made in the UEFI/BIOS and exit. Your computer will likely reboot.
      5. Install or reinstall the operating system: To fully switch to Legacy mode, you may need to reinstall your operating system. You can use a bootable installation media (DVD or USB) for this purpose.
      6. Follow the installation process: During the installation, make sure to select “Legacy” or “Legacy/CSM” as the boot mode. This option might be found in the boot settings during the installation process.
      7. Complete the installation: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the OS installation.
      8. Restore your data: After the OS is installed, you can restore your data from the backup you created in step 1.
Keep in mind that switching between UEFI and Legacy mode can be tricky, and not all systems support both modes simultaneously. Also, some software and drivers may not work correctly when you switch between these modes. Make sure you have a good reason to make this change, as UEFI is generally recommended for modern systems. Always back up your data and be prepared for a potentially time-consuming process.

I actually think I need to convert the GPT disk to EFI. I'm trying to install an image from Sccm it downloads the NBP file ok and won't go any further. I was able to image two old Dell desktops ok. I suspect that the image on our sccm server is still a legacy image. I've found some information on the Lenovo forums. I'm an IT Professionnel. It's really annoying I have to do this. My colleagues don't but I'm using a local sccm server that I think isn't configured for UEFI images.

It appears that you need to configure your local SCCM server to support UEFI images and ensure that the disk is GPT (GUID Partition Table) for UEFI boot mode. Here are the general steps to accomplish this:
Convert Disk to GPT: If your disk is currently using an MBR (Master Boot Record) partition style, you need to convert it to GPT to support UEFI. You can do this using the Windows built-in utility called "MBR2GPT." Here are the steps:
      a. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      b. Run the following command:
      Copy code: mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullOS
      c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the conversion.
Configure SCCM for UEFI: To support UEFI images in SCCM, you'll need to configure your SCCM environment for UEFI. Here are some key steps:
      a. Ensure that your boot images in SCCM are UEFI-compatible. You might need to create new boot images that support UEFI if you don't have them already.
      b. Update your task sequence to use the UEFI boot image and enable UEFI-specific settings.
      c. Check the distribution points to ensure that the UEFI boot images are distributed correctly.
      d. Make sure your distribution point settings are properly configured for PXE booting with UEFI.
      e. You may also need to review and update your SCCM policies to make sure they align with UEFI requirements.
Boot into UEFI Mode: After converting the disk to GPT and configuring SCCM for UEFI, make sure that your target machine is set to boot in UEFI mode. You can usually change this setting in the BIOS/UEFI firmware settings of the computer.
Deploy the UEFI Image: Deploy the UEFI-compatible image to the target machine using SCCM.
By following these steps, you should be able to deploy UEFI images from your local SCCM server to machines configured for UEFI boot. Ensure that your SCCM task sequence and deployment settings are properly configured for UEFI, and that your target machine's BIOS/UEFI settings are also set correctly.
