Zenobia, the Queen of Palmyra, gave the Emperors and Generals of Rome quite the challenge, as she pushed her way through their territories, growing her kingdom from a small Syrian vassal state to an empire that stretched from Northern Anatolia to Southern Egypt.

As a Syrian researcher and academician, at least I can say: "very good job!" I hoped though, that you gave more info about other strong theories about her origin and strong indications that Zanobia spoke spoke many languages including Aramaic Syriac, and befriended good reputed Syrian scholars like Longinus of Palmyra or known Cassius Longinus was a Syrian rhetorician and philosophical critic. Born in either Emesa (Syrian Homs now) or he studied at Alexandria (or Antioch) who theorized of the Sublime in Literature..!

When I received a puppy as a gift for my 10th liver transplant anniversary, I wanted to name her after a powerful woman from history. I called her "Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra," which has allowed me to tell the story of the historical Zenobia to friends and family who aren't aware of it. :)

It does sound like that's what I said. Actually, I was saying Moesian, because he was from Moesia, an ancient Thraco-Illyrian community in an area that includes modern day Serbia, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia. Here's a link to a wikipedia page with more infomation: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moesia

Great Story. Special the relationship between Cleopatra and the Tolomeyns descendants of Alexander the great. A warrior Queen . I would like to watch a movie about Queen Zenobia.

Ive read somewhere that she did get captured but later on escaped her prison in Rome with the help of the Christians in return for her to convert to their religion. I could definitely see value for both Christians and Zenobia joining forces against Rome as their common foe. But then again she probably wouldnt have disappeared from the history books completely after her capture.

I believe she died on her way to Rome. She was such a fiery spirit that it’s hard to believe she surrendered and lived in an estate when she was unsure of how her people were doing. Is there more evidence of either thing happening, though?
